This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Glancing at Wu Buwei, Du Heng continued slowly, ”Most of the medicinal ingredients in this prescription are for harmonizing stomach qi. If you treat lesser yang instead of yangming, it will damage the stomach qi. At that time, the pernicious influence of lesser yang would lead the pernicious influences from the other two meridians to conceal themselves in the yin meridians. This would immediately transform the condition from a three-yang pattern to a three-yin pattern.

By then, what was merely a common cold would be aggravated into a severe illness by that single prescription.”

Hearing Du Heng’s last words, Wu Buwei fell silent.

Du Heng stood up, preparing to leave. ”Actually, if you don’t overthink it and just focus on treating yangming with modifications to the White Tiger Decoction, the effect might be slower, but the final outcome wouldn’t be much different.”

After saying this, he got up and walked out. As he reached the door, he suddenly added, ”Oh, remember to quickly enter the prescription into the system. Don’t let it slip your mind.” Then, without looking back, he returned to his office in the rear courtyard.

Once Du Heng’s figure disappeared and his footsteps could no longer be heard, the newcomer heaved a heavy sigh of relief.

The pressure Du Heng had exuded just now was immense; so much so that the newcomer hadn’t dared to look up during the latter part of the explanation.

Looking at the now-empty doorway, the newcomer said with relief, ”Dr. Wu, it’s terrifying when the Dean asks questions! I almost couldn’t remain standing.”

Wu Buwei gave the prescription a little shake, then looked back at the visibly relaxed young man. ”You’re stating the obvious. The Dean is a Deputy Chief Physician who made a name for himself and established his position at a Grade 3A hospital like the Provincial First Hospital.”

The newcomer clicked his tongue, a sound conveying both fear and admiration, as he recalled Du Heng’s earlier demeanor.

This sound, however, irked Wu Buwei. The young man hadn’t shown him an iota of respect earlier.

”Let me ask you, what exactly did you learn at your school? How can you not even know about Six Meridian Differentiation?” Wu Buwei frowned and asked.

The young man was troubled by this question. He felt he had studied well in school, so it was strange that he had no recollection of this.

Could it be that the school hadn’t taught it?

Wu Buwei didn’t bother to investigate the reason. He directly told the young man, ”Alright, stop thinking about it. Starting today, begin studying the *Treatise on Febrile Diseases* diligently.”

”Why?” the young man asked Wu Buwei, surprised.

Wu Buwei smiled mysteriously. ”Just listen to me. If I tell you to study it, then study it.”

Seeing Wu Buwei’s smile, the newcomer’s curiosity intensified. He pressed, ”Dr. Wu, please tell me why.”

”Alright, I’ll give you a hint.”

”Go on, I’m listening.”

”The Dean was very unhappy with how both of us reacted today.”

The Dean wasn’t happy?

What did his unhappiness have to do with me having to study the *Treatise on Febrile Diseases*? Before he could ask further, Wu Buwei had already walked to the computer with the prescription, remaining silent as he began typing.

Back in his office, Du Heng sat behind his desk, lost in thought for a long time before turning his attention to Wu Shengnan’s treatment.

In the afternoon, Du Xuejing returned with Liu Amei. Seeing the smiles on their faces, Du Heng knew they had enjoyed themselves today.

However, noticing they were empty-handed, Du Heng realized he had made a significant mistake today.

Liu Amei had no money on her, and the card used for payments was still at the registration office. Du Xuejing probably didn’t have much money either.

So, the two of them had likely just wandered around, perhaps eaten some snacks, and then returned.

”Tingting, what have you two been up to today?” Du Heng called Du Xuejing over.

Du Xuejing was overjoyed and launched into an enthusiastic account for Du Heng.

But from what Du Heng gathered, it was much as he had guessed: they had mostly just strolled around and hadn’t bought or eaten much.

”Don’t you have any money? I remember you went to your uncle’s house the day before yesterday, and he gave you five hundred yuan, which you proudly showed off to me,” Du Heng asked Du Xuejing curiously.

Du Xuejing pouted. ”My mom took it all. She said she’ll give it to me for living expenses when I go to school.”

This answer left Du Heng exasperated. ”Since you didn’t have money, why didn’t you call me? I could have transferred you some. Look at you two, finally getting a break and you only spent fifty yuan.”

”Oh, I was so happy I forgot.” Du Xuejing grabbed Du Heng’s arm. ”Little Uncle, can A mei and I go again tomorrow?”

”Dream on,” Du Heng said, mercilessly shaking off Du Xuejing’s hand. ”Pack up; we’re going home.”

”Don’t you have to be on duty tonight?”

”No, Wu Buwei is on duty tonight.”

After packing their things, the two of them drove home.

However, the snow on the road was thick. The second-hand sedan Du Heng had bought didn’t handle well, and on many stretches of road, he had to make several attempts to push through.

By the time they finally made it home, Du Heng, who had been driving the whole way, was drenched in sweat.

Getting out of the car, Du Heng glanced at the second-hand vehicle that had served him for nearly a year. He felt it was time for it to become a third-hand car; he was finally determined to buy a new one.

His bank account balance had reached seven figures. He wasn’t planning to buy a house, so why not get a better car?

Otherwise, what was all this money for?

Was it to have a son?

As he stepped through the door of his big brother’s house, he heard voices from inside and knew they had guests.
