This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

A hint of confusion appeared in Wu Shengnan’s eyes. ”What kind of consequences can this injury cause? Will it make me limp like after losing a toe?”

Du Heng shook his head gently. ”That definitely won’t happen. If it were to make you limp, I wouldn’t bother with this. As for the consequences, the skin on your foot will become very unsightly. Also, even with the treatment, your toes might not necessarily be saved.”

Du Heng’s words left Wu Shengnan in silence.

It was clear that if nothing was done, she would definitely lose her toes. But if she underwent the treatment, she might still lose her toes, and the entire surface of her foot would become unsightly.

So, was this a difficult choice? Not at all. Between beauty and freedom to walk, one would definitely choose the freedom to walk. And this beauty was only on the surface of the foot. Who could see it when wearing shoes? Would anyone really strip off their shoes and socks to look?

It took less than three seconds for Wu Shengnan to make up her mind.

However, her sister-in-law suddenly asked, ”What if Nannan’s toes can’t be saved, and the surface of her foot is damaged, causing further injury?”

Regarding this question, Du Heng didn’t say much. Instead, he turned his gaze to Wu Shengnan’s mother.

Wu Shengnan’s mother glanced at her daughter-in-law, then said quietly to Du Heng, ”Xiao Du, just treat her according to your plan; don’t worry about us. Nannan’s current condition is already very good. As for the rest, let’s leave it to her fate.”

As Wu Shengnan’s mother spoke, Wu Shengnan’s elder brother reached out and gently pulled his wife.

With the consent of the patient and her family, Du Heng took out his tools and the ointments he had prepared.

Since Wu Shengnan had just undergone acupuncture treatment, it was not suitable to directly perform guasha. So, Du Heng smeared ointment all over his hands and began massaging Wu Shengnan’s foot.

At the same time, Du Heng took the opportunity to carefully feel the elasticity and toughness of the skin on her foot, preparing for the subsequent treatment.

From the ankle to the dorsum of the foot, Du Heng worked meticulously, ensuring every inch of skin absorbed the medicinal power to the maximum extent and was thoroughly loosened.

This process lasted for nearly twenty minutes.

If it weren’t for her foot being black and swollen, Wu Shengnan might have thought Du Heng had some peculiar fetish.

However, at this moment, Wu Shengnan’s gaze towards Du Heng had started to become strange.

Du Heng didn’t know what Wu Shengnan was thinking. He just continued the massage at his own pace. When the ointment on her foot became dry, Du Heng began to formally test his idea.

There are many contraindications for guasha; one is not to use it on swollen areas, and another is not to use it on ulcerated areas.

Currently, Wu Shengnan’s ulcerated area was on her lower leg, which wasn’t a major issue. However, the surface of her foot was swollen, which was definitely among the contraindications.

After reapplying ointment to her ankle and the dorsum of her foot, Du Heng took a deep breath and picked up the guasha board.

Now was the time to test his skills and ideas.

Too gentle, and it would be useless, no better than a hand massage. Too much pressure, and if the skin broke, it would be game over—all treatment would stop, and amputation would be necessary.

During this process, Du Heng was extremely careful, using all his strength to administer the treatment.

But his skills proved to be excellent. After the treatment, Wu Shengnan’s foot showed no signs of tearing. Moreover, on the swollen and tight surface of her foot, a distinctly visible color appeared, contrasting with that of her lower leg.

More accurately, the texture of the skin on her leg and foot surface had changed.

Previously, her entire leg and foot surface had a comprehensively swollen, explosive, and chaotic appearance. But now, from her ankle to her toes, a clear, downward-trending, and very regular pattern of lines had formed.

Du Heng felt the dampness on his back. When he stood up, the front of his shirt, now stuck to his chest, felt cold, making him shiver. Only then did he realize that his body was soaked in sweat.

Li Jianwei had been uneasy about Du Heng performing guasha on Wu Shengnan. He felt that at this stage, Du Heng really didn’t need to take such risks.

From potentially needing to amputate the lower limb to now only risking a few toes, this was already a significant victory.

There was really no need to put himself in a dangerous situation for just a few toes.

But he was not Du Heng, and he couldn’t make decisions for him.

He was so worried that he went directly to find a doctor from the Department of Health Care who specialized in guasha. He hoped this senior doctor could advise Du Heng during the procedure to prevent mistakes and, if necessary, stop him in time.

But when he brought the man to the scene, and they saw Du Heng performing guasha on a swollen foot, the senior doctor’s mouth fell open.

As time went on and the lines on the foot surface became increasingly distinct, his mouth remained agape.

Why were there clear lines? Du Heng had managed to scrape away the edema, dispersing the fluid that had seeped out of the blood vessels and caused the swelling.

With this skill alone, Du Heng could already establish his own school of practice.

Many guasha therapists, when performing it on a normal person’s body, would either break the skin or fail to produce any effect, often only succeeding in causing the patient pain all over.

In a situation like this, their legs would tremble just looking at the foot, let alone attempting to achieve results while ensuring the patient’s skin remained undamaged.

If one were to use the realms from Wuxia novels as a comparison, the senior doctor felt he was, at best, a second-rate practitioner aspiring to be first-rate. Yet, even at that level, he believed he was capable of carrying the banner in the field of guasha. But Du Heng? He was a grandmaster, beyond first-rate—someone he couldn’t hope to catch even if he were on horseback. To put it bluntly, even if it meant losing face, he felt he would have to kneel to watch such skill, just to show proper respect for this level of mastery.

Du Heng tugged at his uncomfortable, sweat-drenched clothes, then looked at his masterpiece with satisfaction.

Before he started, he had a thousand worries. But once he actually began, the tactile sensitivity awarded to him by orthopedics helped immensely. More importantly, however, it was a profound integration of his knowledge of skin, bone, muscle, tendons, meridians, and even blood vessels, leading to a deeper understanding of surgery. After finishing this procedure, Du Heng felt he could now perform a surgical operation with his eyes closed. However, this lofty idea flashed through his mind, and he immediately returned to reality; he was still that ’coward’ who would feel nauseous at the sight of everted muscle.

After another satisfied look at his masterpiece, Du Heng turned to Wu Shengnan’s mother and said, ”Auntie, there’s no more treatment for today, and please don’t give her any massages or anything similar. Periodically, apply a warm, damp towel to the surface of her foot. Tonight, take out the blood activating ointment I gave you and gently apply it to the surface of her foot.”

”Remember,” Du Heng deliberately emphasized, ”apply it very gently. Absolutely no rubbing motions.”

Wu Shengnan’s mother didn’t know if Du Heng’s treatment this time would be effective. However, seeing Du Heng’s expression and the still-agape mouth of the senior doctor who had come in, she felt this treatment must have had some effect.

After making these arrangements, Du Heng and Li Jianwei returned to the office together.

It was only then that Du Heng’s entire body began to tense up, and he even felt his hands and feet trembling slightly.

Recalling that state of complete mind-body unity, where nothing else existed, Du Heng found it incredible.

The senior doctor who had accompanied Li Jianwei was also deeply stirred by Du Heng’s performance. He opened his mouth several times, as if wanting to say something.

But being an older man, he ultimately swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue. He returned to his own office, lips pursed, his expression one of suppressed excitement.

Super God Technique! That was his only thought at the moment.

Once Du Heng had recovered his composure, he began to consider Wu Shengnan’s current prescription.

After three days of medication, while the condition of her foot had only been barely controlled from worsening, her lower leg had already begun to show significant improvement.

At this stage, continuing with the first prescription, which focused solely on reducing inflammation and promoting blood generation, was no longer sufficient.

A moment later, Du Heng had written the second prescription and handed it to Li Jianwei beside him. ”Teacher, this is the revised prescription for Wu Shengnan. Please take a look and see if there’s anything unsuitable.”
