This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Ping had already forgotten about disciplining Du Heng. He looked just like a child who sees their favorite toy, his eyes sparkling.

He circled the car and wanted to reach out to touch it, but then saw the callouses on his hand and silently retracted it. ”Tell me honestly, how much did this car cost?”

”HEH HEH, don’t judge the car by its size, it actually didn’t cost too much.”

Du Ping glared at Du Heng. ”Don’t treat me like a fool. A car like this would be all over the streets if it didn’t cost a fortune. Tell me, did it really cost five hundred thousand yuan as Tingting just mentioned?”

Du Heng still had an apologetic smile. ”Five hundred thousand yuan isn’t much, and I can afford it now. Let’s not dwell on the price, just tell me if you like it or not?”

When Du Ping heard the price of five hundred thousand yuan, he became so angry that he wanted to hit Du Heng, but he sighed midway and withdrew his hand.

Du Heng was prepared to take a slap, his neck already retracted, but he didn’t expect his Big Brother to put his hand down. He quickly tried to please him, ”Brother, why don’t you try driving it for a spin?”

Du Ping was a bit tempted but then said, ”Never mind, I might scratch it with my skills. Let’s just go back.”

He turned around and walked towards home, grumbling as he went, ”Such a big car, it must consume a lot of gas. Five hundred thousand yuan for an iron lump, and it’s a gas guzzler. What a waste, a profligate.”

Seeing that the matter was settled, Du Heng chuckled, quickly caught up, and once again put his arm around his brother. ”Brother, if you don’t want to drive this car, you can take my old one. You know how to drive, and not having a car at home is inconvenient.”

This proposal obviously tempted Du Ping, but he still hesitated. ”Why don’t you just sell it? I won’t use it much at home, and the tricycle is usable too. Selling it can help cover your expenses too.”

Du Heng pretended to be annoyed. ”Sell? To whom? If I sold the car again, it would be a third-hand car. If someone offered 20,000 yuan for it, they would be overpaying.”

”It would only sell for 20,000 yuan?” Du Ping exclaimed in astonishment, as this price was far below his expectations. ”The car cost you 70,000 to 80,000 yuan last year. How did it become only 20,000 yuan in a year?”

”That’s just the market. There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s so cheap there’s no point in selling it. It’s better to leave it for you. It’ll be more convenient for you and Sister-in-law when going out, wouldn’t it?”

Du Ping hesitated for a moment. ”Alright, I’ll drive it for a few days then?”

Seeing Du Ping’s hesitation, Du Heng laughed, knowing that his Big Brother was finally tempted. ”Okay, you can drive it as much as you want.”

Du Ping’s attitude began to waver, making the probability of keeping the old car close to one hundred percent. For Du Heng, this actually fulfilled one of his wishes.

His Big Brother had started raising him before he was even twenty. He himself had finally grown up after so much effort, only for Du Xuejing to follow. And no need to look further; Du Yi, that little brat, was already lining up.

Although Du Heng’s ability could now solve the family’s financial problems, Du Ping was a traditional, old-fashioned person. He would give unconditionally to his younger brother, only hoping that his brother would stand out.

On the other hand, he didn’t mind spending his younger brother’s money or using his brother’s discarded items, and he actually felt happy about it. However, he wouldn’t buy anything new, especially if it involved a large sum of money he wasn’t accustomed to; that would be almost like taking the flesh off his bones.

He was the kind of person who would be extremely frugal with himself, yet incredibly generous with those closest to him.

Du Heng knew his Big Brother too well, so using a little trick would make him succumb.

So, was the old car really that old?

Of course not!

Up until now, the car had only been driven for two years and had not even reached 50,000 kilometers. The farthest it had ever gone was when they visited Wang Shuqiu’s house.

Although Du Ping had accepted the fact deep down, he couldn’t stop nagging when he entered the house. This gave Du Xuejing’s ”wounded soul” a bit of comfort, as she made a smug face at Du Heng.

「The next morning,」 when Du Heng and Du Xuejing were preparing for work, Du Ping had already fed the sheep early, put on his presentable clothes, and even had his Sister-in-law style his hair for him, looking formal and grand.

Du Heng didn’t dare to say anything more to provoke his Big Brother, but Du Xuejing didn’t care and snubbed her father all the way.

He had been as fierce last night when he scolded Du Heng as he was happy today to pick up the car.

Watching his Big Brother drive away happily, Du Heng felt a great sense of relief. Seeing that Du Xuejing was about to leave, he waved for her to come to his office.

”Tingting, don’t go to work today. Your Little Uncle has a task for you.”

”What is it?”

”Today, accompany Liu Amei to the city. Help her buy some clothes and daily necessities. Change everything from head to toe. When Liu Amei is discharged from the hospital tomorrow, I want her to have no connection with her past, not even a single hairpin.”

That kowtow yesterday had deeply shaken him. He felt that he should do something more for Liu Amei.

When Du Xuejing heard that Liu Amei could be discharged from the hospital, she was so overjoyed she almost jumped with happiness. She sincerely felt happy for Liu Amei.

However, her happiness lasted for less than two seconds. Her eyes darted around, and she immediately looked pitifully at Du Heng, ”But I don’t have any money. Last time we went to the city, I only treated A mei to a bowl of beef noodles and two sticks of barbecue.”
