This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Wu Buwei arrived quite quickly. When he reached his destination, he saw Du Heng pacing back and forth in front of a big Benz, his eyes brimming with joy.

Wu Buwei walked over and joked, ”Senior Brother, if you like it so much, why don’t you buy one?”

Du Heng grinned, flashing the keys in his hand. ”Bought it.”

Wu Buwei’s eyes lit up instantly. He swiftly walked over to Du Heng, snatched the car keys from his hand, then aimed them at the car and pressed a button.

When he actually heard the car respond with its beeping sound, he became even more excited than Du Heng. ”Senior Brother, did you really buy it?”

While talking, he started caressing the car’s body, looking utterly infatuated.

Without waiting for Du Heng’s answer, he said, ”Senior Brother, let me drive it! Let me have some fun! I’ve wanted to buy this car for a long time, but My Dad never agreed.”

Du Heng pulled another set of keys from his pocket and tossed them to Wu Buwei. ”In your dreams. I haven’t even had a proper drive yet. Here, drive my old car back.”

Looking at the keys in his hand, Wu Buwei’s face fell. ”Senior Brother, you called me here just to be your chauffeur! You get the new car, and I get the old one? That’s too cruel!”

Du Heng pulled open the car door, sat in the new Benz, looked around, and chuckled at Wu Buwei outside, ”If I didn’t need a driver, would I have invited you over for a banquet or something?”

As he spoke, he started the car. ”I’ll take it for a spin first. When I get back, I’ll let you drive it for a couple of days to scratch that itch. How about that?”

Hearing this, Wu Buwei finally looked a bit happier. He couldn’t help but touch the car’s hood and body again. ”This car just looks so imposing.”

”Hehe, I like how big it is too.”

Wu Buwei clicked his tongue in admiration a few times, then suddenly said, ”Senior Brother, isn’t driving this car a bit too high-profile? People might start talking.”

Du Heng looked indifferent. ”Let them talk if they want to. They’ve got mouths, haven’t they? They can say whatever they like. It’s not like I can sew their mouths shut, can I?”

As he spoke, Du Heng lightly tapped the accelerator, feeling the slight tremor of the car body, and eagerly steadied the steering wheel. ”Alright, let’s head back. See you back at the Health Clinic.”

As his voice fell, the brand-new car slowly pulled out of the parking spot, leaving behind the vehicle that was about to become third-hand.

Wu Buwei walked over to the old car with its keys, patted the roof, and sighed, ”See that? Your owner is abandoning you.”

Sentimentality aside, the moment he thought about driving that big Benz himself, Wu Buwei grinned from ear to ear, quickly jumped into the old car, and floored it to chase after Du Heng.

Upon returning to the Health Clinic, Du Heng’s new car immediately attracted a crowd, especially the men, who generally had little resistance to such large, imposing vehicles.

However, since it was the Dean’s new car, they didn’t dare make any rash comments. After a while of admiring and envying it, they quickly returned to their workstations.

They’d heard some scuttlebutt that the Health Clinic was going to conduct spot-check assessments, and anyone who failed would have their bonuses docked.

Their current bonuses weren’t huge, but they definitely weren’t small either, ranging from five or six hundred to one or two thousand yuan a month. For medical care staff with average monthly salaries of only four or five thousand yuan, or even medical assistants earning just over two thousand, if their bonuses were really docked, it would be no different from carving flesh from their bones.

Although no official notices or documents had been issued yet, the rumor had already spread with convincing detail, and those who might have been involved in the discussions hadn’t come out to deny it. So, it was basically considered true.

In the span of a single morning, Du Heng, once respected, had suddenly found himself the subject of widespread disapproval.

Du Heng was oblivious to what everyone was thinking, still immersed in the joy of his new car.

That commanding, expansive field of vision was simply incomparable to what his old second-hand sedan could offer.

However, after a short rest, he quickly refocused, no longer indulging in his fondness for the new car. Instead, he asked for Liu Amei’s examination report.

He had a good grasp of the treatment for her ovarian tumor and her body’s recovery; he just hadn’t seen the examination report, which would offer a more direct, objective view.

So, these issues weren’t his primary concerns.

His main concern now was whether Liu Amei had retained her fertility, even if there was just the slightest chance. For Du Heng, this would mean his treatment during this period had been successful, and Liu Amei’s suffering had been worthwhile.

To perform these checks, they had to go to a Big Hospital and use their professional equipment to get the results.

Once he knew the results, if Liu Amei’s fertility was indeed preserved, even if there was just a tiny glimmer of hope, Du Heng had ways to preserve and build upon this positive outcome with his expertise in traditional Chinese medicine.

But without such equipment, even though Du Heng was now an expert in the Gynecology Department, he couldn’t, while the patient was still recovering from a major illness, directly determine if her ovaries and uterus were still capable of reproduction.

By the time Liu Amei’s body recovered to a normal level, and traditional Chinese medicine methods could be used to diagnose whether Liu Amei still possessed reproductive capabilities, it was also possible that, by missing the optimal treatment window, all their efforts would be for naught.
