One-Eyed Monster

”I am on my way back to Luona,” Hustace replied.

”Back, back to Luona?” Perkins was surprised, what’s going on, could it be that the governor’s son went out to carry out a mission?

After rubbing their sore legs, Nakasha and the other League Guards all stood up. Naturally, they stood by Hustace’s side. Their duty was to protect Young Master Hustace on his return. Right now, it didn’t matter who this person in front of them was; until confirmed, they couldn’t let their guard down, even though they were just thoroughly fooled by that guy.

That’s their duty; they never forget their responsibilities.

Not only Nakasha and the others, but even Stan Sol maintained a certain level of vigilance against this Perkins. After all, it’s baffling for someone who suddenly appeared claiming to know Hustace.

Perkins could also sense some clues from the way these people positioned themselves. Indeed, he would do the same in their position. It’s abnormal for an unfamiliar person to suddenly show such enthusiasm towards someone they protect.

However, Perkins didn’t mind. Perhaps not many people knew about his relationship with Hustace. It’s natural; after all, when he left, Luona wasn’t as it is now. In a decade, things have changed significantly.

”You don’t need to do this.” Hustace spoke, feeling uncomfortable being surrounded, especially when it was Perkins whom they were cautious of.

”Young master, we must be careful,” Nakasha said, still holding a grudge over the earlier incident, harboring no good feelings towards the owner of this carriage.

”Careful?” Hustace found it a bit strange, why be cautious of Perkins?

At this moment, Stan Sol stepped forward, pointed at Igor, and Igor understood immediately, quickly said to Hustace, ”It’s better to verify anyway, considering your special identity and the fact that he hasn’t shown any credibility.”

”Credible... I know him!”

”Memories can become fuzzy,” Igor continued to echo Stan Sol’s words.

”Alright, alright, Hustace, they’re not wrong,” Perkins said. He wasn’t surprised by the current situation.

”But...”

”No buts, I think it’s very normal; it’s a straightforward matter. I do need to prove my identity.”

”Uh...” Hustace felt very frustrated, having to prove the identity of someone he knows in front of these people was truly absurd.

”Let me tell you, I’ve been through many things, so strange that you wouldn’t even believe them, really, bizarre.”

Igor’s ears perked up immediately, intrigued by such bizarre tales.

”You just mentioned that memories might be unclear, but do you know that sometimes even appearances can be false?” Perkins spoke mysteriously, leaving everyone present baffled.

These words prompted Nakasha and the others to unconsciously tighten their circle around Young Master Hustace.

”My name is Perkins Austin Glass; I’m a world traveler, been traveling for a bit too long, recently felt homesick, wished to return, and I’m on my journey home today.”

Nakasha and the others exchanged glances. The surname Glass signified the person had no status—typically either an orphan or an illegitimate child. But Young Master Hustace called this guy brother, what on earth was going on?

”If it weren’t for you bumping into my carriage earlier, I wouldn’t be here chattering away with you. The most crucial thing is that I still need to prove my identity, which is very troublesome, I tell you,” Perkins continued in a loquacious manner, a constant chatterbox.

”He is my brother, make way for me,” Hustace was a bit angry, unable to understand why these League Guards were always in his way.

”Young master, caution is advised!” Nakasha said, showing no signs of backing down.

”Don’t trouble them, Hustace, I can prove it; though proving is troublesome, I’m quite confident I can prove that I am indeed the real Perkins.”

In fact, this matter was not only troublesome but also difficult. Except for Hustace, no one else recognized him, making proving himself a huge problem.

”How will you prove it?” Igor scratched his head, finding the task too challenging, seemingly impossible to solve.

”Because I am Perkins, you can ask me anything, and I will certainly answer,” Perkins exuded immense confidence.

”Uh...” Igor was momentarily speechless, wondering what to ask, knowing nothing about Perkins.

”Well, take your time thinking, I’ll be here, but I have other things to attend to.” Perkins then returned to the carriage, shortly bringing out a semicircular pair of glasses, a small broom, and dustpan.

Perkins put on the semicircular glasses, then knelt down, squinting with one eye, glancing left and right, then picking up the small broom and sweeping incessantly, appearing like a madman, given there was nothing on the ground.

Hustace sighed, knowing this person was Perkins because only Perkins would do such seemingly meaningless things.

”Let me tell you, it’s fine if you don’t question me, but you need to solve a problem: you crashed into my carriage, and that’s all right, though my head still hurts, but scaring away my hired driver is troublesome. I can’t drive; you have to resolve this issue somehow.”

Perkins chattered away while busy, and after all that transpired, no one dared to make a move against him...

Nakasha was thinking, Hustace called this person brother, could he be a distant relative of Governor Rostov? Why hadn’t they heard of such a thing? They’d never heard of Governor Rostov having other offspring; it was well-known that Young Master Hustace was Governor Rostov’s only son. So, who exactly was this guy...

”Let me tell you, if you have no questions, then help me solve the problem, don’t just stand here! You may not be in a hurry, but I am eager to get back,” Perkins continued his complaints.

”Uh, well,” Igor couldn’t hold back, being the kind of person who couldn’t conceal his curiosity, ”Are you Hustace’s brother?”

”Hehe, someone finally asked a question, huh.” Perkins raised his head, put away the small broom, then put the contents of the dustpan into a bag on his person.

”How should I say, I am his brother, yet not his brother.”

”Are you or aren’t you?”

”His father is my adoptive father, that’s the relationship.”

Upon hearing this, everyone was shocked. Could it be that this person was also a returning nobleman?
