One-Eyed Monster

Young Master Hustace was a bit low on energy; during this trip up the mountain, he encountered many things beyond his understanding, which had greatly shocked both his mind and body. So at this moment, his fatigue was not just physical but more psychological.

Hustace looked at the League Guards of the City Administrative Office at Lubin Tavern and shook his head. He didn’t want to be protected all the time, but his identity made it so that he was constantly surrounded by people. During this trip to Guru Mountain, he also realized his own shortcomings, the biggest being his survival skills. Without the people from the City Administrative Office, he could hardly do anything, and if not for encountering Igor on the mountain, he could have frozen to death, or even starved to death...

With a sigh, Hustace acknowledged that he was a noble fish in a pond. This adventure had given him a very clear goal and also made him aware of what he should strive for.

He was destined not to become an Adventurer like Igor. Even if he shamelessly pestered Igor, it would only cause trouble for others...

He looked at Goding, who was crying like a child because of him, and also at Bunan and Pifu, all of whom suffered because of him...

Moreover, Bunan was even accused of being a murderer...

But now, that’s been cleared of suspicion.

”They’re all my friends and are coming back to the Imperial Capital with me. Please arrange some rooms for them,” Hustace naturally commanded the people from the City Administrative Office, something he was quite skilled at.

The subordinates of the City Administrative Office quickly made the arrangements; facing the orders of the young heir of Governor Rostov, none dared to be negligent.

Hustace lay quietly on the bed; though this wooden bed was a bit hard compared to the one at home, it was much more comfortable than those stones on the mountain.

He hadn’t slept so comfortably in a long time. While in Luona, even the large bed at home felt intolerable; now, in retrospect, that soft large bed seemed like paradise.

Hustace closed his eyes and fell asleep within moments.

He was truly exhausted.

The others were much the same, though Stan Sol remained as cautious as ever. Even though Igor assured him that Hustace would solve his problems, he maintained his usual attitude, an unchanging habit developed from years of traveling this continent alone.

Great Witch Biggs, however, was not so at ease. As a member of Gaga County, she naturally had to assist the City Administrative people in solving the case.

Even Elder Rostellum, the county chief of Gaga County, didn’t recognize this woman as Great Witch Biggs until she presented her evidence, at which point he tugged at his goatee and admitted it.

Lubin Tavern had never been quiet; now, because of Young Master Hustace’s arrival, it has quieted down instead.

Though there were many topics to discuss, no one dared disturb the rest of the young heir of Governor Rostov.

Now they were all scratching their heads; the cause of the mayor of Liuli City’s death was still unresolved, and the secrets of Guru Mountain were yet undiscovered. They were in complete disarray.

In Lubin Tavern, Elder Rostellum and Aliusan were sidelined because both the Court Chief of the Liuli City Court of Guards and the Guards of Luona were of higher rank and status.

This time, the Guards of Luona were not of the same caliber as Goding.

A White Robe Wizard led a group of High Rank Fighters and High Rank Hunters; though few in number, their combat strength was formidable.

Needless to say, even that White Robe Wizard alone could give many people a hard time.

Their mission was twofold; the first was to retrieve Young Master Hustace, and the second was to explore the secrets of Guru Mountain.

Nakasha was that White Robe Wizard, and the Governor had instructed him to fulfill his tasks at all costs.

But now, he was a bit confused...

He didn’t have the speed of a Holy Robe, so it took a lot of time to get here, and by the time he arrived, this place was as silent as a ghost town, like a village that had just been ravaged by war.

But later, he came into contact with personnel from the Administrative Office and learned that many unusual things had happened here.

Upon hearing these bizarre stories, he felt quite excited, thinking he should quickly head up the mountain and make a significant impact. However, before he could even finalize his plans, a large group of people came grandly down from Guru Mountain.

What made him feel helpless was that this group consisted of people from the Alchemy Workshop.

Anyone could recognize the insignia of the Alchemy Workshop, and he could also discern that the leaders had extraordinary skills. Wisely, he didn’t act rashly.

He then learned from that man with the goatee that the person was the chief of the Alchemy Workshop.

At that moment, he felt utterly defeated.

What could possibly be left on a mountain after the Alchemy Workshop’s main force had swept through it?

It seemed the Governor’s task for him would be unfulfilled.

The Alchemy Workshop didn’t stay long at the foot of the mountain; the leader, the Alchemical Chief, gave a few instructions and then left with the main force. The message they left behind was quite valuable, at least indicating that the mountain’s secrets had already been taken...

But the value of this information was counterproductive for Nakasha; at that moment, he realized that of the two tasks he had, only one remained.

That was to retrieve Young Master Hustace here.

But just a moment ago, he had failed his second task as well.

Because Young Master Hustace returned on his own...

This quite surprised him. How did this nobleman manage to come back by himself? How could he account for this when he reported back? Coming all the way to Guru Mountain and saying he achieved nothing? That would greatly disappoint Lord Governor.

Nakasha now had a headache, but he was the leader here, for his rank was the highest among everyone, and everyone was awaiting his instructions.

But he was at a complete loss.

Should he just return like this?

The expectant eyes of those Politicians below made him uncomfortable. He should have brought a Politician along initially; he was truly unskilled at handling this sort of matter.

Nakasha didn’t know what to do, and in his anxiety, he could only pace back and forth, appearing more like an experienced Politician.

This peculiar place, Guru Mountain—even though it wasn’t as cold as the extreme winter, it made one feel stifled as if something was constantly oppressing them.

Now there seemed to be nothing overly important left here, but on closer inspection, every detail required attention, and he was totally confused.

It needed sorting, and then he had to report to Lord Governor. The Mail Bird was ready long ago.

But amidst this chaos, where should he begin?
