One-Eyed Monster

The Spirit Book fell silent.

It could sense the intense and incredulous gazes from everyone, with Igor’s gaze being the most distinct.

At this moment, it didn’t have the heart to think about taking revenge on Igor or anything. After all, Lord Soron’s last wisp of residual thought had just appeared. Although it was brief, it meant that Lord Soron’s final vision was also realized on this continent.

It, a Spirit Book, as the embodiment of Lord Soron’s Spirit Power, felt obligated to explain what had just happened to everyone here.

So, without waiting for anyone to ask, it naturally knew what to say.

”Ahem,” it cleared its throat before speaking; indeed, it was a bit tired. That moment of being possessed by Lord Soron’s residual thought was indeed exhausting.

”What on earth happened?” Igor was already impatient.

The Spirit Book thought to itself, young one, you can’t hold your horses, unlike the others who aren’t as eager as you.

However, the Spirit Book didn’t say this because it really didn’t have the energy anymore. After this, it would definitely fall into a deep sleep for a long, long time.

”She, that Wizard,” the Spirit Book naturally referred to the Great Witch, ”finally broke the boundary and became the first to realize what Lord Soron had hidden, so Lord Soron appeared.”

The Spirit Book’s explanation was simple, but the listeners were puzzled; they didn’t understand what this hidden thing was.

”Didn’t you notice? She, that Wizard, threw away the wizard robe!”

The others had noticed this early on, but they thought the Great Witch threw the robe because she was overwhelmed with grief and was venting her emotions. Why would they think in any other direction?

”This action can explain many things. What can you infer from it?” At this point, only Igor dared to question further, while the others harbored their own concerns. The Spirit Book’s tone seemed to say, how could you not see something so obvious? You must not be taking this matter seriously enough.

Reflecting on it now, they really felt ashamed of themselves.

Not just a little ashamed.

”Well, standing from my perspective, I think her behavior only means one thing,” the Spirit Book didn’t argue further, mainly because it was too tired.

”What exactly does it mean?” Igor almost lost his patience again.

”The reason I threw the wizard robe aside is that I feel I no longer need the robe to measure myself,” the person in question interjected.

Rather than having the Spirit Book slowly reveal the key point, it was better for the person involved to explain. The Great Witch was much more at ease now, as if she had transformed into a different person.

Earlier, when she advanced from a black robe to a gray robe, she changed, and now, having discarded the wizard robe, she changed once more!

Compared to her previous hunched-over appearance, she was now confident and full of vitality.

”Do you mean you no longer want to be a Wizard?” Igor pursued relentlessly. He didn’t quite understand what the Great Witch’s decision was.

”No, I’m still a Wizard, but I don’t need a wizard robe to prove what kind of Wizard I am anymore.”

”This...”

Could this be Lord Soron’s intention, to find someone who could discard the wizard robe, a kindred spirit like him?

This confused the creatures of Guru Mountain; what was the point of this?

”You might think the wizard robe represents our identity, but you don’t know that I’ve always been constrained by this robe!” This was the first time someone spoke of the wizard robe in this way; if a Wizard said such things in the Wizard Alliance, they would surely be slapped...

”Why do you feel constrained by it...” the Great Mentor asked.

”I’m someone who loves vegetation. I don’t like developing spells, especially those that can be used in battles. Over the years, I’ve discovered many new medicinal plants. Next to my divination tent are many new types of plants; they are all cultivated by myself. Although they can’t be used in battle, they have significant value.”

The Great Witch began to speak; Igor couldn’t discern the connection, but the Great Mentor and the others could, because they knew clearly what this Wizard was talking about.

The essence of being a Wizard is to explore nature, and initially, the Wizard Alliance also served the purpose of rescue. However, after the advent of the Wizard Robe System, these things changed. Most Wizards leaned towards combat specialization, even those responsible for rescue work needed to make breakthroughs in combat, leading to a decline in rescue Wizards, entirely upheld by the older generations.

Indeed, the Wizard Robe System overlooked this aspect.

What the Great Witch had said essentially pointed out that she was a traditional rescue Wizard...

”Releasing this constraint, I can be free. I will choose to become the kind of Wizard I want to be, not the kind that the wizard robe wants me to be.”

”Do you mean the wizard robe has some kind of compulsion?” Igor voiced whatever came to mind.

”Yes, the wizard robe draws you towards combat attributes. In those years when I first returned to Gaga County, I suffered so much; I didn’t want to lean towards that direction at all, but the wizard robe kept urging me to do so...”

Previously, the Great Witch thought this was a psychological effect, but now she realized it was a spell attached to the wizard robe, naturally a gift from Lord Ennis.

”But during those years of abandonment, I gained something else, which is freedom. If I had been in the Wizard Alliance, I don’t think I could have wasted my life like this; there would be daily supervision pushing me towards combat attributes.”

”You’re right. To a certain extent, the Wizard Alliance monitors the diligence of its apprentices...” Yuga said. He used to be in the upper echelons of the Wizard Alliance and was quite knowledgeable about certain secrets.

”These are all the reasons I threw away the wizard robe.”

”But, but everyone knows that this way you won’t be able to advance anymore!” Igor felt it was a pity.

”Advance? I don’t need that anymore,” the Great Witch continued.

”Well...”

”Indeed, since you can’t advance to become a White Robe, the lack of a wizard robe isn’t that important for a Gray Robe Wizard!” Igor thought for a bit and said.

”She still has a chance to advance to a Sacred Robe!” the Spirit Book suddenly retorted Igor, and this time it was spontaneous and not part of its revenge plan.

”What?” Igor was in disbelief.
