One-Eyed Monster

The discussion resumed.

The discussion about Biggs’ wizard robe began anew amidst this sense of sentimentality.

This surprised the Spirit Book; it didn’t expect the storm to be so mundane.

Luckily, their topic didn’t change, still revolving around the wizard robe.

The Spirit Book wasn’t very fond of this Wizard Robe System. After all, it was Lord Soron’s book, and it naturally held opposing views on a system it once opposed. It’s human nature to like something along with its owner, so hating something would follow the same logic.

The Spirit Book couldn’t get a word in edgewise for the time being, nor was it keen on participating in this discussion about wizard robes. It was still puzzled—such a cumbersome thing, killing freedom, yet being talked about extensively—it’s truly bizarre.

This shows that these people are indeed eccentric, engaging in such absurd activities.

The Spirit Book contemptuously looked down on them, its sense of superiority quite evident.

Really can’t fathom what these people are up to, but let them discuss away. It can take a break for now. Just piecing together Lord Soron’s fragments took quite a bit of its Spirit Power, so now it truly needs a good rest.

Sleepiness struck, and the Spirit Book yawned, wanting to close its eyes for a good nap...

Snap—a brute force slammed the Spirit Book shut, the force was so great that the book trembled all over, as if its entire ’head’ had been knocked senseless, oh, it’s just a book, no actual head...

”What the hell—” The Spirit Book almost blurted out a curse but choked it back, because it sensed a familiar presence in that force.

That familiar presence carried a bit of savageness, a bit of arrogance, overall a domineering aura.

Most importantly, the Spirit Book had zero tolerance for even a bit of this overbearing nature.

Because this person was Igor, its master, it had no choice but to accept.

”Master, what are you doing, I was just yawning...”

”Look at you, confessing without being asked, knowing what I was going to say, so you explained it was just a yawn?” Igor spoke lightly, knowing this Spirit Book too well.

”I...” The Spirit Book found it hard to argue.

”I knew you were going to nap, always unreliable at critical moments, consistently unreliable!” Igor’s tone carried a hint of helplessness, as if he were used to the Spirit Book’s behavior but also felt a bit disappointed, a touch of frustration.

”Master, I...”

”Stop with ’I-I-I,’ quickly check, see if there’s any record about the wizard robes.”

”Huh?” The Spirit Book was bewildered, what’s this all about, what do you want me to do. It felt that it had already said everything just now, and that was a picture it painstakingly pieced together, so why make it search again now...

Is this repetition really necessary?

Is tormenting like this really good?

Did anyone even listen carefully to the talk just now?

The Spirit Book was internally churning, but it could only churn inside, since facing Igor, it was quite cowardly.

So it could only timidly ask, ”Do I have to repeat what I just said?”

”Repeat? What are you talking about, what are you doing, is your brain addled, oh, I forgot you’re a book, that saying doesn’t apply...” Igor was puzzled about what the Spirit Book was up to, whether it hadn’t listened properly or if he hadn’t expressed himself clearly. It seemed like they were talking past each other...

The Spirit Book felt the same way.

Though this scene was comical, the discussing group of monsters didn’t notice at all, just like before, seemingly uninterested in these things.

It’s not that they weren’t interested, but rather it was ineffective. The problem they were discussing, with Igor and the Spirit Book squabbling, didn’t help at all...

This is why they didn’t care about Igor and the Spirit Book’s tussle, each remained focused on their own discussion.

Igor and the Spirit Book were at an impasse there, a result entirely due to poor communication, as Igor assumed the Spirit Book knew, and the Spirit Book assumed Igor knew, both thinking the other understood, but they didn’t...

In reality, they weren’t on the same wavelength at all.

This led to Igor believing the Spirit Book wasn’t paying attention, while the Spirit Book thought Igor hadn’t listened to its previous narrative.

So the two were stuck there, each believing their own, not even attempting communication.

The key to resolving differences is through communication.

When communication flows smoothly, even major differences can be resolved. Who knows if Igor and this Spirit Book realize this.

”Master, what exactly do you want me to find then? I’ve already listed all the opinions about the wizard robes!” The Spirit Book was still reluctant to repeat the facts it just stated.

”You’re talking about the entire Wizard Robe System!” came Igor’s sudden realization, their conversations weren’t even about the same thing before, no wonder the Spirit Book felt obliged to repeat...

”Then Master, what are you referring to...” even the Spirit Book was confused.

”Well, it’s the wizard robe on the Great Witch, can’t you see there’s something unusual about it?” Having found the root of the misunderstanding, Igor switched to a guiding approach with the Spirit Book.

”Oh?” The Spirit Book then began perceiving the wizard robe on the Great Witch, marking its second time observing this robe.

The first time it perceived it, it immediately recalled Lord Soron’s opposition to the Wizard Robe System, leading to the previous lengthy narrative about that system...

Now as the Spirit Book again began sensing the wizard robe on the Great Witch, would it once more unravel another long and complex story?

This kept Igor filled with anticipation.

For Igor’s attitude toward this Spirit Book started to change again now.

Although the Spirit Book often appeared unreliable, the things it unraveled from this unreliability often exceeded Igor’s imagination, as if opening another door for him.

”This wizard robe is quite special!” the Spirit Book remarked, clearly sensing the flickering colors atop the robe.

”Right, quickly check, see if there’s any related record, hurry up, everyone is eagerly waiting,” Igor frankly expressed, with an openly expectant expression.

”Uh...” the Spirit Book felt slightly at a loss, as Igor had never been this urgent before...
