One-Eyed Monster

The Spirit Book is now slowly uncovering those things that were once hidden.

Often, people don’t understand why the predecessors hid certain things. Everyone feels they have the right to know the truth. Why should it be concealed? Everyone believes the truth should be made public, not hidden away, as hiding it is seen as disrespect and unfair to all.

In fact, this view is unjust and biased.

Why should the hard-earned discoveries and insights of others be shared with you? Because you’re handsome or tall? The truth naturally contains certain biases, and some truths are not as you think.

Doing nothing and only thinking of acquiring is a very bad behavior, which will only lead oneself into the abyss.

The Spirit Book doesn’t understand why Lord Soron wants to hide these things. In its eyes, these are symbols, each representing various forms. It feels that letting everyone understand these forms isn’t necessarily a bad thing, so deep down, it rejects this act of hiding.

Now what it does is slowly reveal these hidden things.

Perhaps the monsters will be astonished again, but always hiding them may prevent many from understanding how important free development is.

”You don’t know, in the early stages of the Wizard Robe System, there were many standards. Initially, it was just a stone that could measure a person’s attributes. This stone was later dismantled by Ennis and then incorporated into other materials through spellcraft, gradually forming a tool for testing levels.”

The details recounted by the Spirit Book were lengthy, yet everyone listened with great interest.

In the beginning, Lord Soron thought this tool for testing levels could motivate apprentices to develop more diligently. This kind of motivation was necessary at the time. But later, he discovered that Ennis had changed this tool.

Ennis changed it to the form of a wizard robe, which was flashy and had a strong Ennis flair, overly focused on appearance and the opinions of outsiders.

At that time, Lord Soron didn’t oppose it much. Some liked this flamboyant way, some didn’t, and there was nothing wrong with that. As long as the tool could serve its purpose, Lord Soron didn’t care about other appearances.

But over time, Lord Soron found that Ennis had removed all the other attribute tests from the tool.

Lord Soron was puzzled and went to ask Ennis. Ennis replied simply, without much emotion.

Ennis merely said, in the current situation, they had to make choices, and becoming strong quickly was the way to solve problems.

Soron said nothing. He knew his words didn’t hold weight. In that situation, only power had a voice.

The right of choice wasn’t in his hands. He could only silently accept this reality and then hide these things again.

Rapid development requires giving up many things. In the face of interests, Soron’s approach simply doesn’t work. No one would care if a young man can become a wizard, only how strong that young wizard can be.

So Lord Soron’s ideas of free development couldn’t work at that time.

Sometimes, people have to give up something. The reason Lord Soron could become a great wizard was because he gave up many things for the bigger picture.

He didn’t care if future generations would spread stories of his low wizard rank, nor did he mind others saying his achievements were lesser than Ennis’s. His contributions to the Empire were behind the scenes, not on the surface, and this sacrifice was great.

They hid these things because they believed that publishing all these fragmented things would affect the entire operation of the Wizard Robe System. The result they wanted was single, and such diversity would only hinder this single outcome from developing.

Lord Soron was conflicted inside, but in the end, freedom prevailed in his heart. He chose to withdraw, and withdrew in a way that opposed it. Although he opposed, he didn’t obstruct it.

This is one of his greatnesses.

The final result might not be as he wished, but he knew that only under the stable situation of the Empire could free development be brought up for discussion.

So, hiding was only to allow future generations to stabilize the situation quickly. He always knew secrets couldn’t be hidden forever, and one day successors would discover the mysteries within, bringing free development back to people’s sight.

Choice and forfeiture were perfectly embodied in Lord Soron.

This is what makes him different from others.

The Spirit Book rambled on with a lot, and these details left the monsters present dumbfounded.

They could never have imagined how much was sacrificed for the strength of the Wizard Alliance. It seems absurd to say, yet it’s real.

The Great Witch Biggs, too, inadvertently tore apart this hidden curtain.

Previously, she had given up her career, prepared to become a divination witch in Gaga County. This surrender completely freed her, and she didn’t know that this freedom granted her another chance.

Igor’s arrival disrupted the original rhythm of Gaga County. Everything here changed, even the hunchbacked Great Witch had to climb the mountain to find monsters. Ultimately, these chaotic events contributed to the Great Witch’s advancement, which was entirely in a free manner.

Unlike the framework of the Wizard Alliance, her advancement had no constraints, did not follow a pattern for development, and was completely free.

This free development caused the wizard robe to change. This change was, in fact, a message to others that a wizard can take another form, not just be a person full of combat power.

The Spirit Book’s narrative finally came to an end. It was satisfied to see Igor’s astonished face. It could have criticized this master a few more times, but realizing its current lack of strength, it could only choose to give up.

Sentiments followed suit. Clearly, in such a significant matter, the monsters could not help but be emotional.

Even the frenzied Great Witch became quiet at this moment.

She had also grasped bits and pieces about the wizard robe earlier, which made her once frantic heart suddenly quiet down.

Only then did she realize that many things were not as she imagined.

Her prior panic was evidently somewhat unnecessary.
