One-Eyed Monster

Nakasha couldn’t calm down, even though the tavern was silent now, the previous clamor suddenly vanished.

He looked around, feeling something was amiss, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

The guard named Goding continued to weep uncontrollably; who knows how this guy lost his mind, utterly disgraceful for the entire Administrative League Guards.

He glanced at the Court Chief of the Liuli City Court of Guards, that guy seemed quite relaxed. After all, the real murderer of the Liuli City Mayor had been identified, and the culprit was already dead, so this case was considered closed, leaving nothing to be entangled by. This credit would surely be attributed to the Court Chief, who naturally felt at ease.

He pinched his nose to relieve the fatigue in his eyes, then turned his gaze to the subordinates he had brought.

Those fellows were still relatively calm, without much reaction, neither helpless nor schadenfreude, fully in a standby state.

He was quite gratified by this, given that he selected these people himself, they treated him with respect.

Of course, many people treated him with respect—the governor of Gaga County was good at flattering, yet this Politician was slightly different from others; he saw no ambition in the Politician, but rather, greed was most apparent.

This somewhat surprised him, for here Politicians, despite their skill at hiding emotions, wouldn’t hide their ambition, or in other words, without ambition, what’s the point of being a Politician?

Nakasha’s thoughts drifted, primarily due to the chaos, now, regardless of how chaotic it was, he needed to report up immediately; nowadays, the speed of information signifies everything. Only by understanding the relevant circumstances can strategies be crafted accordingly. Other external conditions hinge upon this framework.

Now with the Mail Bird System, message transmission is somewhat simple, but a simple process doesn’t mean the message is simple. Given the current situation, Nakasha felt quite troubled.

He knew the information he held was significant, but was unsure where to start; everything seemed crucial yet difficult to articulate.

This was an awkward situation, causing Nakasha a considerable headache.

”Sir, the mail bird has been prepared as requested, shall we start now?” Elder Rostellum approached. All he could do now was cooperate with these high-ranking people. Yet, what he really wanted was for these individuals to leave soon, feeling he had lost too many gold coins during this period. He couldn’t understand why they were so interested in Guru Mountain or why they hesitated; this couldn’t generate gold coins. Without people, where would coins come from? These folks scare people away.

Elder Rostellum just wanted to wrap things up quickly and replan Guru Mountain. The place was no longer the same; the old ways certainly won’t work.

Thus he needed to assist these high-ranking people, ensuring they report their work, so as soon as their reporting was done, they could leave.

”Hmm, let me think, how to express it.” Nakasha knew time was precious; he must report all the information he gathered upwards, enabling the Administrative Office to promptly react, especially since the Alchemy Workshop had also passed through here, which was crucial.

Bear in mind that the enmity between Governor of Luona and the Alchemy Workshop wasn’t just a recent matter; both contended for the King’s favor, relying entirely on skill. Now, with the Alchemy Workshop here taking swift action, they might have uncovered some secrets, thus gaining new leverage.

In this era, access to the King’s resources is essential. Hence, whoever gains newfound power will have a valuable bargaining chip.

Nakasha felt the need to inform Lord Governor about this, yet on second thought, passing Hustace’s message on to him seemed more pertinent as Lord Governor cared considerably for his son.

”Here’s what we’ll do: I’ll dictate, you record, and have the mail bird transmit it.” Nakasha said. This kind of reporting was a first for him, hence he wasn’t adept; previously, he conveyed cryptic orders and explored messages, reporting now was challenging.

This involved language organization, something these League Guards weren’t particularly skilled at.

They were adept at combat, intelligence gathering, and protection... but not this.

”Sir, you need only instruct, though this place is simple, the Mail Bird System is quite comprehensive, ensuring the message’s immediate delivery.” Elder Rostellum replied, filled with concerns but unable to act, given their hierarchical differences. He had to prioritize these high-ranking matters before considering his own agenda.

”Alright, you begin writing, Lord Governor.”

Per Nakasha’s directives, Elder Rostellum recorded ”Lord Governor” accurately.

”Lord Governor, the young gentleman is safe and sound!” Nakasha realized stating so wasn’t appropriate, for directly declaring the young gentleman’s well-being meant their mission lacked purpose.

Having arrived and done nothing but obtain information; they didn’t ascend the mountain, yet the Alchemy Workshop already disclosed what transpired there. Nor did they locate the young gentleman, Hustace simply showed up at the tavern.

Thus Nakasha hastily retracted his previous statement: ”No, no, not that way; write ’Lord Governor, the situation is exceedingly complex,’ but perhaps not, as this may imply we’re overly...”

Elder Rostellum was already bewildered by the happenings here; watching the esteemed guest hesitate over a report caused greater distress—something straightforward being complicated by this Wizard.

”Um, Sir, how about this: I draft it for your review; if satisfactory, we’ll dispatch the mail bird to Lord Governor, sound okay?”

Being unable to tolerate any longer, Elder Rostellum felt obliged to assist this Wizard.

Nakasha was frustrated; now finding a Politician willing to help made him quite relieved.

”Let’s proceed as suggested, you draft it for me to see, but swiftly, we mustn’t delay.”

”Rest assured, I’m aware; how could I defer something meant for Lord Governor, time is money!” Elder Rostellum replied while gesturing. He had long wished to proceed but lacked the chance.

To expedite these dignitaries’ departure, he’d do anything.
