Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The box is simple and unadorned, covered in dust. Wen Yu glanced at Bai’s sincere eyes, then at the box beside him, and after a moment, he slowly stepped forward.

”Number One?”

As he cautiously scrutinized the box containing Number One, Wen Yu still couldn’t comprehend Bai’s actions. Since it was the most important treasure here, Bai could have just taken it himself. After all, Wen Yu hadn’t even noticed the hidden Number One earlier. But now...

Someone was offering a treasure voluntarily, and not just any treasure, but a supreme treasure. Wen Yu couldn’t bring himself to believe such good fortune.

Seeing Wen Yu’s guarded expression, Bai smiled wryly and shook his head, then directly opened the box.

In an instant, Wen Yu felt the world around him light up!

...

It was as if he were standing in the galaxy, surrounded by brilliant spots of light. For a moment, Wen Yu only saw dazzling light and shadows in front of him, the magnificent scene leaving him momentarily stunned.

The next moment, Wen Yu quickly regained his senses and turned his head to the side. Beside him, Bai still stood where he was, and in the distance was still the wall of the secret treasury.

Turning his head back to the box again, the previous scene had vanished without a trace, leaving only an entity emitting a hazy glow of energy.

The energy entity was about the size of a fist, filled with flowing light inside. From such a close distance, Wen Yu could perceive the nature of the energy contained within the energy body. He had seen this kind of energy nature before...

”World Heart Shards?”

Wen Yu couldn’t help but ask.

The little thing in front of him was so similar to the World Heart Shards he had once obtained in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes! Even though they looked different, their essence was actually the same—at least in Wen Yu’s perception, their energy nature was the same.

”It’s not... Well, there’s no difference in the energy nature. This thing does indeed contain a large amount of Origin Energy.”

Bai’s voice came from the side, and under the radiating energy influence of Number One, Bai’s voice carried a dreamy and hazy feel.

”What? Not going to take a closer look?”

At this point, Bai’s voice seemed to have an unknown magic, drawing Wen Yu closer to this so-called Number One. However, Wen Yu’s Soul Strength was terrifyingly powerful. Looking at Number One ahead, Wen Yu slowly squinted his eyes, then ”bang,” he firmly closed the open box lid!

”Something wicked, and by the way, were you trying to hypnotize me just now?”

Once the box blocked the dispersing energy flow from Number One, everything returned to normal. Wen Yu immediately turned his head to question Bai, only to be met with Bai’s wry smile.

”There was no hypnosis, just a normal reaction next to Number One...”

Saying this, Bai opened the box once again. This time, he actively grabbed Number One from inside, holding it in his hands like he was holding a small sun. Bai stared fervently at Number One in his hands, his eyes flashing with a complex light of desire and urgency. Afterwards, he barely suppressed all reactions and looked at Wen Yu.

A hazy voice emerged.

”This thing is indeed composed of Origin Energy, but I assure you, it’s unlike any other items containing Origin Energy you have ever seen!”

After speaking, Bai gently stroked Number One in his hand, looking at it as if it were his own child. The complex gaze made Wen Yu’s skin crawl with goosebumps...

Until Bai’s voice rose once again.

”This is the World Heart... a complete, albeit unformed World Heart!”

...

”A complete, albeit unformed World Heart?”

Upon hearing Bai’s explanation, Wen Yu frowned, thinking carefully, but still didn’t understand what Bai meant—regarding all sorts of odd secrets, this old monster Bai indeed knew much more than Wen Yu!

”Have you ever seen a World Heart?”

Hearing Bai’s inquiry, Wen Yu thought for a moment and nodded gently.

When the Origin Extraction Device descended, Wen Yu chased the Demon Spirit’s backhand all the way to the Earth’s nucleus and saw the origin of the Earth’s nucleus there. That should have been the World Heart.

”A World Heart could also be called a World Will. It’s like the amalgamated willpower entity of all life since the birth of life. In other words, the so-called World Heart is the soul of a world in simple terms.”

”But a World Heart is like a person, from a child to a youth, to a mature entity. The growth and expansion of a World Heart are ultimately a process. If you find a World Heart in the early stages of World Will cohesion and then excavate and properly preserve it...”

At this point, Bai stopped, but Wen Yu had already understood what the so-called Number One actually was.

This was a newborn world!

”The cultivation system of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes is incredibly powerful. Throughout history, the most powerful experts have either been Level 11 or very close to it. Such powerful experts can naturally break free from the constraints of their planets and soar into the vast cosmos. Actually, with your current power, you could do the same, but...”

Saying this, Bai pouted and pointed upwards.

No more words were needed—the atmosphere was sealed. No matter how strong you were, you were still a pig within the Dominator’s pigpen...

”This was the supreme treasure obtained by our predecessors in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, handed down through antiquity. We never found a way to use this thing. Once the Exchange Stone Pillar appeared, this item was given attributes by the Dominator... Do you want to see?”

After Bai spoke, he handed Number One over to Wen Yu. Wen Yu slowly extended a finger, gently touching Number One in Bai’s hand. Subsequently, a prompt sounded in his mind.

Number One (???): Named by the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, its essence is the World Heart of a newly born life-form world, function unknown.

”Such a perfunctory prompt...”

Originally filled with hope, after reading the prompt for Number One, Wen Yu was suddenly bewildered.

From this prompt, nothing useful could be discerned, no wonder the powerful experts of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes couldn’t find a way to utilize it...

Slowly withdrawing his finger from Number One, Wen Yu felt significantly deflated, and his gaze towards Number One was no longer as attentive and expectant.

Wen Yu never considered himself a clever person. A newly born World Heart with an unknown function, when the Universe of Immortals and Heroes failed to figure something out after countless epochs, Wen Yu didn’t believe his research abilities exceeded those of the powerful experts of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, nor that his luck could rival their eons of efforts.

In other words, this thing, from Wen Yu’s current perspective, was a useless ornament...

And for things that are useless... Wen Yu didn’t really have a collecting hobby...

”Alright, are you sure you want to give this to me?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s now calm tone, Bai understood Wen Yu’s thoughts with a turn of his mind. Placing Number One back into the box, Bai looked at Wen Yu and smiled, ”Of course, it’s for you.”
