Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Fran, it’s up to you!”

Lin Haifeng, entangled with the Sea King and Skyray, kicked them both away with his feet and shouted to Fran.

Then, Lin Haifeng’s figure flickered, and in just an instant, he darted behind Fran.

Fran, who had been observing for over ten minutes, organized his thoughts, and upon seeing Lin Haifeng shake off both the Sea King and Skyray, he took out a delicate pistol from the space ring while asking Lin Haifeng.

”Something happened in Yanjing?”

”Tang Haofei has emerged and is currently altering the control permissions of the Eternal Sky City.”

With a simple sentence, Fran broke out in goosebumps.

”Tang Haofei...”

It’s no exaggeration to say that as long as Tang Haofei awakens, there is no means to reseal him—whether Wen Yu can fight Tang Haofei, Fran is unclear, but someone who’s been sealed once won’t lose all their wits; they can surely run away, can’t they? And if Tang Haofei wants to run, who can stop him?

”And the Eternal Sky City, that’s the real point...”

Lin Haifeng sat down heavily on the ground, his right hand on his chest. With a surge of golden light, at this moment, Lin Haifeng could clearly sense the contingency he left in the Eternal Sky City.

With Lin Haifeng’s reminder, Fran also reacted. Looking at the Sea King and Skyray rushing towards him with bared fangs and brandished claws, Fran froze their time, turning them into immobile wooden sticks while shooting, and simultaneously communicated with Lin Haifeng.

”We can’t lose the Eternal Sky City, with this thing, Wen Yu can step in to protect Yanjing.”

Lin Haifeng nodded seriously, and Fran understood well the significance of the Eternal Sky City to Yanjing.

The Eternal Sky City is fully functional. By now, it’s far from just a flying city—it’s more than a residence; it’s Yanjing’s mightiest weapon and the world’s transit hub. Even the Human Race’s various high-tech R&D bases and the most advanced military manufacturing facilities have all been arranged by Lin Haifeng in the Eternal Sky City.

This is one aspect, but what’s more important is Wen Yu himself—with the transport channels of the Eternal Sky City, Wen Yu can reap the world at an extremely fast pace, thus becoming stronger. From a certain angle, the Eternal Sky City serves as a link between the Yanjing Assembly Site and Wen Yu. As long as the Eternal Sky City is in Lin Haifeng’s hands, Wen Yu wouldn’t just watch Yanjing being attacked and destroyed. Once the control of the Eternal Sky City changes hands, why would Wen Yu care who Lin Haifeng is? For Wen Yu himself, without the Eternal Sky City, Yanjing has no value...

Then it wouldn’t matter how prosperous or ruined you are to me!

And for Lin Haifeng, the problem lies here—although over the five years he indeed wanted to solve the issue of the cost of power for Tang Haofei, yearning to awaken Tang One, the progress of this matter was not optimistic. Now, Lin Haifeng is not sure if what’s waking will be Tang One or Tang Two. To Lin Haifeng, Tang Two seems more probable. In Lin Haifeng’s thinking, since he has already offended Tang Haofei, there’s no way he can let Wen Yu escape. In a contest between two powers, Yanjing might have a chance of surviving in between. But if Yanjing becomes dispensable to Wen Yu, then Tang Haofei seeking revenge against Lin Haifeng would leave Wen Yu no reason to bother.

Even scarier, if the Eternal Sky City comes under Tang Haofei’s control, Tang Two could easily reconcile with Wen Yu by offering to reopen the Eternal Sky City’s transport channels, inviting Wen Yu to together destroy Yanjing and get rid of Lin Haifeng. What Wen Yu would do in such a situation, Lin Haifeng can imagine with just his toes.

Yanjing isn’t equal to the Human Race, nor is it the world’s center. To ordinary people, Yanjing might seem very important, but in the eyes of these monsters Tang Haofei and Wen Yu, what is Yanjing?

Nothing. Yanjing is just an assembly site. Without Yanjing, I could build a Quejing Assembly Site. As long as you have strength, find a few people good at internal affairs, and creating a super assembly site to people like Tang Haofei and Wen Yu is really nothing.

No exaggeration, Wen Yu right now could, as long as he ropes in someone like Fran, construct the Star of Africa into a super assembly site within three years, not inferior to the Yanjing Assembly Site. For Wen Yu, assembly sites are just burdens, mere by-products of great power, having no substantial use.

Therefore, in Lin Haifeng’s view, Tang Haofei’s awakening isn’t important because Wen Yu now has the strength to counterbalance Tang Haofei! What’s important is that he can use certain things to gain Wen Yu’s support... No, to gain support from Tang Haofei or Wen Yu—it’s true, even Tang Two is something Lin Haifeng thinks can be swayed, albeit with greater difficulty and stricter demands.

This is the precondition for Yanjing’s existence! Like the former Yanjing, why could it grow smoothly to this level? The fundamental issue wasn’t Lin Haifeng’s intelligence or methods but that he could continually gain support from Tang Haofei or Wen Yu, either one or both!

Initially, there was Tang Haofei, which is why when Lin Haifeng played Wen Yu, Wen Yu wouldn’t destroy Yanjing out of anger—at that time Wen Yu knew he couldn’t beat Tang Haofei. If Yanjing were disturbed, Tang Haofei would rebel first, and Wen Yu wouldn’t risk being killed just to vent. After Tang Haofei was sealed, Wen Yu was there, which allowed Lin Haifeng to make the All Races take the Human Race as the head, solidifying the Human Race’s dominance on Earth, and making Yanjing the nominal world center. Lin Haifeng used ideals and racial righteousness to bind Tang Haofei, then later swayed Wen Yu with benefits, this is the fundamental reason for Yanjing’s existence! Or rather, it’s the fundamental reason why Wen Yu or Tang Haofei allow Yanjing to exist and even support its growth. Without a powerful figure to back Yanjing, it would just be a fat piece of meat to some people...

At this moment, Lin Haifeng’s mind is tranquil, unconcerned about the battle between Fran and the Sea King ahead. Golden light blossoms from his right hand, harmonizing with the light on his chest.

”Eternal Sky City central control system is at your service, welcome back, master.”

A cold mechanical voice sounded, and in an instant, Lin Haifeng’s mind connected with the Eternal Sky City.

Perceiving the original struggle and counterattack of the Eternal Sky City’s control system, an inexplicable mocking smile appeared on Lin Haifeng’s lips.
