Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

After dismissing Lin Tianxue, who overestimated herself, the sky gradually turned darker. Wen Yu noticed this and instructed the servant to decline visitors for today, then returned to the bedroom.

However, Wen Yu’s popularity far exceeded Wen Yu’s own expectations.

Just as Wen Yu lay down in the bedroom, the sound of knocking echoed again.

”Didn’t I say no more visitors for today?”

Wen Yu spoke to the servant outside the door in a calm tone, showing no signs of anger—Wen Yu wouldn’t vent his bad mood on the servant...

The servant still appeared humble and obedient, yet his words made Wen Yu frown.

”Sir, it is Lord Demigod visiting...”

”Demigod... the new Protector God of Yanjing...”

Thinking of this, Wen Yu got out of bed, put on his shoes, and said to the servant, ”Bring him to the reception hall; I’ll be there shortly.”

...

Having already decided to decline visitors, Wen Yu returned to the reception hall once more.

To say he was agitated, he was definitely agitated, but having arrived in Yanjing, two people coming to visit were ones Wen Yu had to meet—one being Lin Haifeng, the other being the Demigod...

People like Xiao Xue, Kasu, and Walter are ones you can see or not see, but the Demigod is different, or rather, the Protector God of Yanjing is different...

In Yanjing, the land of hope for the Human Race, the Protector God of Yanjing is the nominal Protector God of the Human Race, although essentially, he’s just a high-level guardian, which essentially makes Wen Yu the ultimate guardian of this world—no difference...

Yet this visit from the Demigod piqued Wen Yu’s curiosity.

Wen Yu and the Demigod truly had no friendship—the two hadn’t even spoken before...

It’s just unknown what purpose the Demigod has for coming this time.

As Wen Yu pondered the purpose of the Demigod’s visit, he soon heard footsteps.

The sound approached from afar, and within the range of perception, that immense blood energy shot skyward like smoke—far superior in comparison to Kasu, Qin Tian, and others; the Demigod’s strength indeed surpasses them by a wide margin...

Hmm, physique probably comparable to Star.

Yet besides the blood energy, Wen Yu couldn’t perceive any Soul Fluctuation within the Demigod.

”Human Creations, capable of such strength, the Demigod project sure seems worthwhile.”

Being an artificial creation, the Demigod naturally possesses no soul or anything of the sort, but the Demigod’s uniqueness allows for growth far beyond normal professionists. From a certain perspective, the Demigod has advantages over professionists.

”Lord Wen Yu.”

With a deep voice ringing, Wen Yu lifted his head and saw the Demigod standing at the doorway, wearing an iron mask.

...

Currently, the Demigod was in a military uniform, standing straight and tall, with an iron mask obscuring his features, though presumably the face beneath the mask should be quite charismatic.

Since the Demigod’s inception, Wen Yu rarely visited Yanjing and didn’t see the Demigod frequently. Back at the Demigod’s enthronement ceremony, he caught a glimpse from afar but left no lasting impression—as Tang Hao Fei Zhuyu precedes him, it seems no matter who succeeds as the Protector God, they wouldn’t leave an impression on Wen Yu.

The close proximity this time was indeed a first, and looking at the Demigod’s figure, Wen Yu felt he’d seen this guy somewhere before...

Hmm, tall, strong, imposing...

He might be some passerby with a distinctive aura.

The familiar feeling flickered and vanished; Wen Yu didn’t bother to probe deeper but merely nodded in acknowledgment for the Demigod to sit.

The servant poured tea, and once the attendants withdrew, Wen Yu slowly began speaking, ”I’m curious what you want from me this time?”

Direct inquiry stems from Wen Yu’s impatience and his lack of friendship with the Demigod. Given the Demigod’s status and Yanjing’s understanding of Wen Yu, the Demigod surely wouldn’t come at night just for pleasantries, so there must be important matters to discuss...

...

Hearing Wen Yu’s calm voice and facing his ”mortal enemy,” Kuangliu’s eyes hazed...

”So straightforward, still unchanged...”

A sigh rose in his heart, and Kuangliu lowered his voice, cleanly stating the purpose of his visit.

”Lord Wen Yu, I would like a drop of your blood.”

...

”Lord Wen Yu, I would like a drop of your blood.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Wen Yu’s breath hitched. He initially thought a drop of blood was inconsequential, yet suddenly recalled the role of the Demigod Nurturing Vessel introduced by Lin Haifeng and the Demigod’s enhancement methods.

The Demigod absorbs the genes of organisms, extracting skills, strengthening the physique, and acquiring species innate talent from genes... Overall similar to the Faceless, yet the Demigod’s growth method, while not as direct as Perfect Duplication, is permanent.

Thus...

”No problem, it’s no big deal” swiftly transformed into another response.

”No.”

Simple words, yet under Wen Yu’s deliberately weighted tone, they appeared exceptionally resolute.

Wen Yu refused to provide his blood... Wen Yu couldn’t possibly provide his blood to the Demigod!

The high-end Spirit Skill System, yet since even the Faceless could replicate Wen Yu’s powers entirely, there’s no guarantee the Demigod couldn’t either. Not to mention, if the Demigod does acquire Wen Yu’s Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, it would create a competitor out of thin air! Wen Yu had no reason to agree to this!

This anticipated response did not display any emotion from the Demigod.

”Is that so...”

He merely spoke calmly, delivering that brief sentence, then stood and said to Wen Yu.

”In that case, Lord Wen Yu, I’ll take my leave.”

”Travel safely, I won’t see you off.”

A simple exchange concluded the conversation.

...

The Demigod, now leaving the courtyard, had furrowed brows beneath the mask.

Wen Yu’s response wasn’t surprising to the Demigod, for in peaceful times, requesting a drop of blood was simple—look at how many people donate blood annually.

Yet in the end times, the professionist system brings diverse abilities, and sometimes a drop of blood can be leveraged for many purposes. Due to the Demigod’s special nature and military significance, Lin Haifeng occasionally imagined requesting a drop of blood from Wen Yu, but he never acted on it—for he knew Wen Yu would likely refuse.

”So, this path is blocked...”

The Demigod sighed inwardly, then lifted his head, gazing at the location of the Eternal Sky City above.

A peculiar smile lifted at the corner of his mouth, and the Demigod Kuangliu’s eyes gradually brightened...

He stepped forward, his figure fading into the night.
