Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Half an hour ago, the Tenth Floor of the Heavenly Palace, secret treasury of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance.

”Around 20 pieces of Esoteric Level items or skill scrolls, each with different functionalities, countless other low-level items with special effects, all of them are good things. Now, would you like me to give you a detailed introduction to the treasures inside?”

Bai said so.

”That would be proper!”

Wen Yu responded with a smile.

”This one.”

Bai casually pulled out a scroll-like item from the shelf beside him, glanced at it twice, and then tossed it to Wen Yu.

”SSS-Class skill upgrade scroll, you might need it.”

Wen Yu took the scroll, briefly evaluated it, and placed it in his space ring.

”Very nice, but I don’t need it anymore.”

”Oh? Reached the limit, huh...”

Bai rubbed his chin, his gaze ominously scanning Wen Yu, then gently shook his head.

”Really underestimated you, thirty-six skills all SSS-Class, tsk tsk, you’ve done quite a job these past few years.”

”It’s alright.”

Wen Yu replied moderately. With the world’s resources supporting one person, to say that they can’t come up with dozens of SSS-Class skill upgrade scrolls is quite a joke.

”Then you probably don’t need these.”

Bai casually picked out several scrolls and handed them to Wen Yu, all were skill scrolls below SSS-Class, then ignored Wen Yu’s contemplative gaze and walked towards the shelf on the side.

”Is the most of this secret treasury filled with skill upgrade scrolls?”

After scanning several shelves, Wen Yu asked as he looked at the handful of skill upgrade scrolls.

”Yes, mostly. This sort of thing is rare strategic resource, which you should also understand, as professionist levels increase, skill systems become more complete, finding a suitable skill scroll becomes increasingly difficult. Compared to changing skills or even altering skill systems, skill upgrade scrolls effectively address the issue of skill level insufficiency.”

These are all facts Wen Yu had experienced; actually, now at the Sequence-class powerful expert level, situations of changing skills are rare, and for a completed skill system, a suitable SS-Class skill may not be inferior to an SSS-Class skill.

”These are strategic reserve materials plundered by the Immortal Emperor, in the late Universe of Immortals and Heroes, a skill upgrade scroll equated to an upgrade scroll of a higher level skill, so while much of this you won’t be able to use, its overall worth is fairly decent.”

Wen Yu quickly estimated, then nodded. The skill upgrade scrolls himself obtained were not just pretty good in overall value; the total was almost equivalent to Star of Africa’s transaction amount for three months. Once Wen Yu sells these, the Soul Crystal stone and Demon Beast Corpses he could trade back will be enough to significantly boost his strength.

Thus Bai slowly walked and scanned, until most skill upgrade scrolls had been divided between Wen Yu and Bai by the time they reached the final three shelves.

”You eight, me two, check if the early distribution is problematic?”

”No issue.”

Wen Yu quickly calculated and agreed with Bai’s distribution scheme.

”Well then, here you go.”

After Bai finished speaking, he casually tossed all his skill upgrade scrolls to Wen Yu, facing Wen Yu’s puzzled gaze, Bai smiled picking up a wooden box from the shelf beside him.

”Exchanging these skill upgrade scrolls for this item doesn’t count towards our collective distribution plan. The skill upgrade scrolls are of no use to me, but you, on the other hand, have sales channels. I exchange these for an Esoteric Level item, you don’t lose out.”

”Not losing out indeed...”

Wen Yu smiled, stored the space ring filled with skill upgrade scrolls handed by Bai, and reached out again pointing to the wooden box Bai held.

”But I want to see what you’re taking first.”

The total value of items Bai gave to Wen Yu was very high, far exceeding that of any single Esoteric Level item—several thousand skill upgrade scrolls of different levels, once sold would bring Wen Yu loads of profit. Wen Yu, who owned the Star of Africa, quickly estimated and came to the conclusion that the total value of these items was about equal to ten Esoteric Level skill scrolls.

However, price isn’t calculated this way, regardless of how many low-level items there are, they can’t compare to Esoteric Level treasures that can improve Wen Yu’s strength even by a fraction. Wen Yu’s logic is simple: with Star of Africa in possession, and magic crystals aplenty, but suitable Esoteric Level items are truly a one-time opportunity.

Bai didn’t say anything else, just casually threw the item in his hand to Wen Yu. Wen Yu opened the wooden box; inside was a palm-sized mirror.

The mirror was round, of an antique style, its bronze frame adorned with beautifully intricate carvings, which didn’t form any structure, like a child’s random drawings, yet filled with an unsettling sense of eerie illusion.

”Cluck~~ cluck cluck cluck~~ Big brother come play with us...”

”You pat one... I pat one...”

”One... two... three... wood man...”

As soon as the mirror was in hand, an eerie, noisy child’s laughter seeped in without barriers into Wen Yu’s mind, a terrifying spiritual attack surged swiftly against Wen Yu’s mental faculties, but was entirely suppressed by Wen Yu’s substantial Soul Energy! Until the child’s laughter gradually became somber, then vanished without trace, a notification sounded in Wen Yu’s mind.

Mirror Demon (Species-specific Esoteric Level item): A cursed device made by sealing countless resentful spirits, imbued with psychic attacks, not to be touched by anyone lesser than a powerful expert. The Mirror Demon was crafted by a supreme expert of the Demon Path in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes using dark arts; specific functions are to be self-discovered.

”Did you make this?”

Seeing the description on the Mirror Demon, Wen Yu shook the mirror, asking Bai.

Bai shrugged ambiguously, then swiftly snatched the Mirror Demon from Wen Yu’s hand after saying, ”You best not mess it up,” while taking the Mirror Demon back to his embrace.

”Alright, it seems this goes back to its rightful owner.”

Wen Yu acknowledged Bai’s trading approach.

Such eerie things, although Wen Yu was tempted, he thought about it and felt he had little use for it, the most annoying part being the ”specific functions are to be self-discovered” in the description. It was known items with such descriptions have remarkable effects, yet Wen Yu really did not lack such an item, nor had the time to explore any ”specific functions.” With that time, why not study the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill? Maybe Wen Yu might someday craft his own Esoteric Level items...

Bai took another box from the shelf beside him, opened it, briefly looked it over, then gave it to Wen Yu.

Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll (Species-specific Esoteric Level item): Upgrades an SSS-Class skill to Species-specific Esoteric Level skill.

”This one’s mine.”

Wen Yu took the scroll without hesitation.

For this alone, the trip was worth it.
