Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Nothing happened that night.

When daylight brightened the next day, Wen Yu got out of bed. A servant brought breakfast; he had just eaten half when Fran came knocking.

Fran pushed the door open with a smile on his face, and as soon as he saw Wen Yu, he couldn’t resist teasing, ”You got worked to death yesterday, huh?”

Wen Yu rolled his eyes. ”I’m telling you, you guys really need to clean up the unhealthy trends in Yanjing. What was all that crap yesterday? Bootlickers, people trying to send their daughters to me, and even one bringing a high-end massage club VIP card. It’s only because my willpower is strong, or else, tsk tsk, I would’ve long since been corrupted by this colorful world...”

Wen Yu grumbled as he ate, while Fran just stood by with a smile, waiting until Wen Yu finished breakfast before bringing up business.

”Right, Lin Tianxue came to see me yesterday.”

”As expected.”

Fran’s face remained calm. After all, Yanjing was ultimately Lin Haifeng’s turf. With Lin Tianxue doing things under Lin Haifeng’s nose, there was no way Lin Haifeng wouldn’t notice.

”She asked me to support her son. I agreed to...”

”Heh heh.”

Fran chuckled, his eyes burning as he looked at Wen Yu.

”Alright, I knew I couldn’t hide it from you old foxes. I did slap her in the face. So, while the All Races Conference hasn’t started yet, we might as well take a trip to Eternal Sky City. I need to reinforce Tang Haofei’s seal.”

Although in theory Lin Tianxue had absolutely no motive to wake Tang Haofei, one still had to guard against all possibilities. Wen Yu didn’t want to, and wouldn’t, touch Lin Tianxue, but adding an extra layer to Tang Haofei’s seal was something he could at least do.

Not to be polite about it, with Wen Yu’s current strength, a Pitch-dark Barrier he sets up cannot be broken without at least 5,000,000 physique points; and 5,000,000—sorry—excluding Wen Yu himself, Wen Yu’s soul pets, and Wen Yu’s Soul Puppet, there simply shouldn’t be any existence of that level in the whole world.

”Alright!”

Wen Yu’s proposal was something Fran agreed to immediately—compared to Wen Yu, the military was actually even more afraid of Tang Haofei being awakened...

The two acted as soon as they decided. They got up and left the residence, heading toward the nearest Exchange Stone Pillar. Halfway there, as if remembering something, Wen Yu spoke to Fran again.

”The Demigod came to see me yesterday. He wanted my blood; I turned him down. Was that Lin Haifeng’s idea?”

Fran’s eyes narrowed... After a moment, he lightly shook his head. ”Maybe yes, maybe no. Lin Haifeng does indeed want to use your blood to enhance the Demigod’s strength. Mm, in the best case, to get the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill. But we figured you wouldn’t agree, so we didn’t even bring it up to you. As for the Demigod coming to your door this time... he might’ve just wanted to give it a try on his own.”

Fran had no need to fool Wen Yu, and his words didn’t hide the military’s desire for the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill at all.

Hearing Fran’s words, Wen Yu nodded slightly—the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill was, without a doubt, the most important of all Wen Yu’s skills. It didn’t directly boost combat power, but its auxiliary effect was just too strong! Just imagine Soul Puppets spread all over the world, then think about the strength of Mountain Kui and Corpse puppets, and you’d know the tactical potential of this skill...

There was no way the military wouldn’t covet the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, and there was no way Wen Yu would hand it over—Lin Haifeng’s judgment was correct. Looked at this way, the Demigod had actually been a bit rash.

Wen Yu didn’t dwell on this matter, and Fran didn’t suspect anything else. The two went straight to the Exchange Stone Pillar, chose teleportation to Eternal Sky City, and then hurried all the way. Before long, they arrived at the central control tower of Eternal Sky City.

...

After passing through dozens of layers of security checks and encountering more than twenty Patrol teams along the way, they finally reached the top floor of the central control tower, where Wen Yu immediately spotted the familiar figure of Kasu.

Sunlight poured down through the skylight, falling on Kasu and giving rise to waves of radiance—the Pure Light Realm, Kasu’s Limit Breaking Ability.

Right now, Kasu no longer held any formal position. He was only responsible for guarding the place where Tang Haofei was sealed, and this area had been remodeled by Lin Haifeng into an environment suitable for Kasu’s cultivation. Overall, it could be seen that Lin Haifeng was unusually attentive to this place.

”Lord Wen Yu, Lord Fran.”

”Lord Kasu.”

Fran and Kasu exchanged greetings. Wen Yu only gave Kasu a nod—on paper rank, Fran and Kasu were on the same level, but given the difference in abilities, their actual authority was far from equal.

”Wen Yu is here this time to reinforce Tang Haofei’s seal. Open the door.”

Fran gave a simple explanation, and Kasu entered the matter into his personal computer, sending it to Lin Haifeng’s personal computer terminal. In no time, a message came back from Lin Haifeng: ”Approved.”

Without Lin Haifeng’s approval, no one could open this door—unless they forced it open...

”Beep, beep, beep...”

Kasu moved his fingers. As the indicator light above the door changed from red to green, the door silently swung open. Standing outside, Wen Yu only needed one glance to see Tang Haofei in the Crystal Coffin.

He was exactly the same as five years ago. Even the bloodstains on his face from the battle at the Origin Extraction Device had been preserved. The blood had long since Withered, turning into a blurry dark Shadow.

Tang Haofei... the Protector God of Yanjing... and a god among men...

Even in slumber, Tang Haofei’s entire body still radiated a ferocious killing intent. His time seemed to have frozen at the moment he was seized by Faceless. Just looking at Tang Haofei’s blood-smeared face was enough to make Fran and Kasu beside him involuntarily swallow.

Wen Yu, however, just smiled. ”What’s there to be afraid of...”

There really wasn’t anything to fear. If Wen Yu had been able to take him down once, he could take him down a second time. What’s more, in these five years, one man had been looting resources from all over the world and growing at a breakneck pace, while the other had been lying here for a full five years and four months.

The gap in strength... might already have reversed...

Dark power surged out from Wen Yu’s hand, and in the blink of an eye, it filled the entire room. The darkness grew deeper and denser until it turned into a black light curtain that completely wrapped Tang Haofei’s Crystal Coffin—as if forming a huge cocoon.

This kind of seal—put nicely, it was called a seal; bluntly, it was nothing more than energy released with a wave of Wen Yu’s hand. Under Wen Yu’s Control, this energy could exist outside his body for a very long time, and its strength was decent too—it took 5,000,000 physique points to break it.

To awaken Tang Haofei, one had to first shatter this seal before there was any chance of touching Tang Haofei’s body. It couldn’t be called absolutely foolproof, but for now, it was a strong and reliable layer of security—at the very least, the Demigod, who was Yanjing’s most powerful expert on the surface, absolutely could not break this seal.

”Alright, let’s go.”

After one last look at Tang Haofei, Wen Yu turned and left.
