Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Wen Yu carefully read the description of Soul Strike and nodded satisfied after a while.

The new Soul Strike is more potent, in addition to ignoring soul defense skills below the Esoteric Level, the most significant change is the addition of three new special effects.

These three special effects enhance Soul Intimidation’s lethality against weaker opponents, although Wen Yu’s own ability to clear the field is already quite good, the effect of Soul Intimidation seems optional, however, combined with Soul Weakening and Soul Deprivation, the three form a perfect positive cycle.

When facing an enemy with a stronger Soul Strength than Wen Yu, as Soul Strike continuously takes effect, the enemy’s Soul Strength becomes weaker while their own gets stronger, until the strong become weak, and Soul Intimidation starts to work, finishing the battle faster.

This was already a trump card capable of turning the tables.

The new Soul Strike leaves Wen Yu quite satisfied, not wasting the Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll, he examined his skills once more, noticing the Pitch-dark Dominator (SSS-class, Passive Skill) standing out somewhat glaringly...

This damn thing, if it weren’t for the potential of Pitch-dark Divine Light, Wen Yu would’ve tossed it far away long ago.

It’s a bit embarrassing to admit, originally Wen Yu planned to research how to cancel the prerequisites of Pitch-dark Divine Light, however, up until now, Wen Yu hasn’t even managed to create an Esoteric Level skill scroll, this research naturally stalled.

Too much talk brings tears, we can only say the road ahead is long...

Thinking this way, Wen Yu absorbed the Soul Crystal Stone, while light blossomed from his right hand.

Whatever, leisure is still leisure, might as well create a couple of skill scrolls now, there’s a big gap in high-end goods at next month’s Star of Africa auction...

...

Lately, Yanjing has been somewhat busy.

As a massive assembly site with 2 billion inhabitants, Yanjing is always bustling, however, today is different from the past, once bustling with human voices, now the hubbub is the buzzing of all creatures.

In recent days, the residents of Yanjing Assembly Site have witnessed some strange sights—numerous terrifying creatures with clear and bright eyes being led by the military into Yanjing Assembly Site, disappearing within the inner city zone.

People new to Yanjing might be struck by its prosperity—see, even those beasts with awakened intelligence come to stroll in Yanjing, perhaps with some luck, one might witness a divine beast on the market.

However, the old residents of Yanjing Assembly Site understand, year after year, at this time when all beasts come to court, it signifies the beginning of the annual World Conference...

The World Conference, initiated by Lin Haifeng three years ago, he even called Wen Yu to personally preside over it, under the deterrent of Sequence Number 2, no race dared refuse the invitation, as for determining the location of the World Conference, after much thought, Lin Haifeng decided to host it in Yanjing.

On one hand, it’s due to human pride and racial strength—without question, the terrifying upright apes have ruled the planet for thousands of years, they were once the masters of Earth and remain so now, and it’s imaginable that they will continue to be. Compared to the natural evolution of mutant beasts, the superiority of the professionist system is evident. On the other hand, Lin Haifeng harbored a little plan—residents of Yanjing, see, even other races come to Yanjing to attend this conference, what does this suggest? We are the greatest, Yanjing is the most superb, hurry up and contribute to the development and construction of Yanjing...

This kind of centripetal force always subtly influences human perception.

...

Standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows in the command center, Lin Haifeng presently appeared calm, his eyes clear and shining with brilliance, exuding a majestic aura with not a hint of being affected by family affairs.

Fran stood just behind Lin Haifeng, looking at the man in front, recalling yesterday’s Nth argument between Lin Haifeng and Lin Tianxue in the office, reflecting on how even the seemingly omnipotent Lin Haifeng struggles with certain things, yet simultaneously admiring Lin Haifeng’s psychological resilience.

Family affairs are complex and troublesome, however, with the World Conference approaching, trivial family matters cannot afford to distract Lin Haifeng—not even a night later, Lin Haifeng had already disentangled himself from the chaos, resuming handling complex business affairs.

”Knock, knock, knock...”

There was a knock on the door, which was then opened, revealing Fang Bai’s figure at the entrance.

”Commander Lin, Simba from the Lion Clan has arrived, with his fierce lion aides.”

”Ah, Simba... you say why do all these lions like to call themselves Simba? I remember Yanjing also has a divine beast lion species belonging to Vermilion Bird War God called Simba.”

This is all assuming Wen Yu wasn’t present here, if Wen Yu was here, he would certainly complain about once encountering a ”Simba”...

”Who knows.”

Fran chimed in from beside, of course, despite the digressions, official matters must not be delayed.

”I recall seeing Simba last year, that fellow had already broken through limits, how’s his strength now?”

Momentarily pondering, confirmedly stating: ”Slightly weaker than me, physical fitness probably around 80,000.”

Mutant beasts, after all, aren’t like professionists, normal mutant creatures can’t freely allocate skills, even if they’re divine beast species, may awaken trash skills regrettably, hence, professionists of the same level generally surpass mutant beasts considerably.

With Simba’s level of strength, even within mutant beasts, it’s enough to rule and expand territories—indeed, Lion Clan is a major clan, Simba’s power places him among the top of the divine beast species.

”Settle them in the beast park to rest, oh, and separate them from those Tiger Tribe fellows, save these guys from always fighting.”

Lin Haifeng casually instructed, Fang Bai took his orders and left, moments later, as if recalling something, Lin Haifeng spoke to Fran beside him: ”By the way, what about the Insect Tribe and Sea Clan? Have they arrived?”

”They haven’t yet, but Skyray and Sea King are confirmed to attend the World Conference.”

The Insect Tribe and Sea Clan, their collective strength closely trailing behind the Human Race, undoubtedly they are giant clans of the era—truthfully without those two individuals, Sequence Number 1 and Sequence Number 2, with the size of the Insect Tribe and Sea Clan, they could easily destroy the Human Race multiple times!

”And what about Wen Yu?”

Upon hearing mention of Wen Yu, Fran sighed: ”That guy said he would definitely come, I told him the first time 29 days ago, the second time 26 days ago, and yesterday for the third time, Wen Yu fully committed each time, however... who knows what he’s actually thinking, maybe he suddenly finds inspiration for creating an Esoteric Level skill scroll and defers the World Conference instead...”

Wen Yu’s approach, well, can’t be described as casual, only such a shitty World Conference, Wen Yu doesn’t really have much concern...

A batch of incompetent chickens fighting and squabbling, to Wen Yu it’s truly boring beyond measure...

As for Lin Haifeng’s talk of uniting worldwide organisms against the demon plague... Wen Yu privately mocked many times: ”Old man, you sure overestimate them here...”

In truth, defending against the demon plague... with Wen Yu alone it’s enough—Wen Yu is now somewhat understanding the original thoughts of Tang Two, in an era where individual power crushes group power, more people, doesn’t equate to greater strength, instead might hinder progress.

Hearing Fran’s words, Lin Haifeng also smiled wryly: ”If he doesn’t come, even the Demigod can’t hold the scene...”

As it turns out, inspiration is truly not easily found, no sooner than three minutes passed, Fran took a communication and easily breathed a sigh of relief.

”Wen Yu arrived, right outside the city gates.”
