Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Standing in the crowd doing nothing in particular, Wen Yu watched as the Sea King located him, and even pointed Fran his way; at that point, there really wasn’t much need to keep hiding in the crowd to watch the show.

Black Light surged over his body, the dark power dislimned Wen Yu’s figure, and in the blink of an eye, Wen Yu appeared at Fran’s side.

The onlookers around saw a figure suddenly appear next to Fran, but had no idea who this person was—Wen Yu had long since used his dark power to obscure his face to avoid trouble.

Seeing Wen Yu show up, Fran let out a heavy sigh of relief. ”I thought you weren’t planning on coming. When I came out, I was really afraid you’d stand me up...”

”How could I? I, Wen Yu, always do what I say.”

Wen Yu’s expression stayed flat—no way was he going to admit that he really had considered standing up the military...

”Since you’re here, let’s go then.”

Fran gave Wen Yu a heads-up, then turned his head to look at the Sea King and his group.

”His Majesty the Sea King happens to be here as well, why don’t we all go together?”

Taking one guest or two was all the same; for this kind of informal reception, everyone just did whatever was convenient.

The Sea King was currently studying the Wen Yu wrapped in black mist with great interest; hearing this, he immediately nodded.

”I have long heard of Lord Wen Yu’s name. To be able to travel together with Lord Wen Yu on this trip is truly an honor.”

More of this flowery talk... Wen Yu instantly felt the whole tone of the scene shift, his skin breaking out in goosebumps. However, although the Sea King’s appearance was ferocious, his manner was friendly. Wen Yu really couldn’t bring himself to reward him with a big slap, so he could only nod lightly and agree to travel together.

Seeing this, the Sea King led his guards down from the turtle-cart, came to Wen Yu’s side, and then, under Fran’s guidance and with the military opening the way, the group walked toward the main gate of the Yanjing Assembly Site.

...

Fran walked in the very front, while Wen Yu and the Sea King’s group followed behind him, with military personnel on both sides. These soldiers separated the Sea King’s party from the rubbernecking crowd, but even so, Wen Yu still felt very uncomfortable.

It was like being a gorilla on display for others to gawk at... If he’d known, he would’ve just slipped into Yanjing quietly by himself...

That was Wen Yu’s thought, but leaving him outside the city for Fran to pick up had been something Lin Haifeng had specifically emphasized—he needed the Foreign races to know that Wen Yu had already arrived in Yanjing, in order to deter certain petty villains who wanted to stir up trouble.

There were many races on Earth, and relations between races were far from harmonious. The number of races hostile to the Human Race was not small—during peacetime, the number of creatures eaten by Humans until they became endangered was beyond counting. For mutant beasts that had gained intelligence, it wasn’t strange for them to harbor resentment toward Humans—if they had a good impression, that would be what was strange...

This was also Lin Haifeng’s main reason for needing Wen Yu to sit in on the All Races Conference.

Wen Yu understood these things perfectly. Although he looked down on the combat power of mutant creatures, Lin Haifeng’s intention in holding the All Races Conference was ultimately a good one, and Wen Yu was happy to lend the Human Race a hand in matters of such importance.

The group did not walk slowly; before long, they passed through the main gate of the Yanjing Assembly Site and officially entered the inside of Yanjing.

The number of onlookers gradually decreased, while military security gradually increased. At this moment, the Sea King at Wen Yu’s side finally opened up.

”I heard that the Star of Africa founded by Lord Wen Yu has developed quite well in recent years?”

Walking together with Wen Yu might have been a coincidence, but as the leader of a tribe, what the Sea King was best at was finding opportunities in ”coincidences.” Now that Wen Yu was right beside him, if he didn’t use this time to get acquainted, then when would he?

As for Wen Yu, he naturally knew the extent of his own influence. He knew full well that walking side by side with the Sea King, this guy would definitely try to find some topic to chat with him about. Besides, after the storms of the past five years, if there was one thing Wen Yu had seen plenty of, it was situations like this; dealing with such occasions was something he was more than familiar with.

Wen Yu nodded. ”The development of the Star of Africa is indeed pretty good, and I also have a large group of mutant beast subordinates in Africa. The Sea King Tribe is rarely seen though. If there’s an opportunity, Honorable Sea King can come visit the Star of Africa; I’ll of course give you a very warm reception.”

Who doesn’t know how to blow a bit of business smoke? Toss out a couple of platitudes and it’s not like he’d lose a piece of flesh. Besides, given the Sea King’s status and IQ, there was no way he’d take Wen Yu’s ”warm reception” at face value.

Sure enough, while the Sea King said, ”I’ll definitely go take a look when I get the chance,” he immediately moved past that topic and instead inquired about something else.

”I heard that Lord Wen Yu has the ability to replace skills for mutant creatures. I wonder if that’s true or not.”

Mutant beasts were still mutant beasts; even if their intellect was no worse than ordinary people, their scheming was still shallow. They’d barely exchanged a few words before he went straight to the point.

As for replacing skills for mutant creatures, Wen Yu was of course extremely practiced at it—start the Soul Battlefield, tear the skill apart by hand, then use the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill to extract the skill from a skill scroll and set it on a Soul Body. This was a special service of the Million Victories Arena; Wen Yu only provided it to powerful mutant creatures with fifty consecutive victories or more.

Of course, when facing the Sea King, Wen Yu didn’t need to make things so troublesome—this guy was a rich man, after all. Although he was Lin Haifeng’s Zang, his power was definitely a cut above the Yanjing Assembly Site, and the resources he had on hand were absolutely beyond imagination.

Premium client...

Wen Yu slapped that label on the Sea King in his mind, then nodded. ”Replacing skills for mutant creatures is a very simple matter for me.”

”Oh? Then I wonder, what conditions does Lord Wen Yu require to make a move?”

The Sea King was straightforward enough, directly asking for the price, and Wen Yu liked straightforward guys the most!

”Demon Beast Corpses, or Soul Crystal stones. Soul Crystal stones are available right here in Yanjing. Of course, if you want me to personally take action, you’ll need a lot, a whole lot of these things—but I imagine that’s not really a problem for the Sea King Tribe. Also, you’ll need to prepare your own skill scrolls. If you can bring out any rare treasures, then the price will have to be recalculated.”

Wen Yu very bluntly laid out his price—compared to a super powerhouse who could bully the entire world, he currently looked more like a shady profiteer.

The Sea King did some quick mental calculations, then smiled at Wen Yu. ”If there’s a chance, I’ll personally visit Lord Wen Yu at the Star of Africa.”

This sentence sounded a lot more sincere than before; it should be that the Sea King had accepted Wen Yu’s ”price.”

With the deal struck, Wen Yu felt a bit of excitement in his heart—business from the Sea Clan should be quite substantial...

After they finished talking about this, the Sea King chatted with Wen Yu about some other pointless topics, and Wen Yu just casually humored him. Before long, the group entered the inner city zone of Yanjing.

Once there, special personnel came to escort the Sea King to the reception area and arrange his accommodations, while Fran naturally led Wen Yu to the place the military had prepared for him to stay—the Sea King mentioned again that he would visit Wen Yu after the conference ended, and then parted ways with Wen Yu.
