You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

42: Section 42General Manager Ma’s words instantly stunned everyone again.

“I just received the latest news: Junzi Group has even secretly set up its own self-operated logistics and warehouses, which will be launched alongside Pinduoduo.”

General Manager Ma put down his phone.

“This person isn’t joking.”

“Everyone here should be very clear about how high the costs of self-operated logistics and warehouses are. It’s possible that all the profits from Douyin’s IPO were invested into Pinduoduo by this person.”

Listening to General Manager Ma’s words,

many business tycoons couldn’t help but look at each other.

“This person is truly a lunatic.”

“He’s sitting on Douyin, which brings in at least tens of billions in revenue annually, yet he still wants to take on Taobao.”

“Does this person have a vendetta against money?”

“The money-burning rate of shopping software is not comparable to a short video application.”

Among those present, several had previously launched shopping software hoping to compete with Taobao, but in the end, they were all beaten by Taobao to the point of having no power to fight back.

It was precisely because they knew how immense the pressure of competing with Taobao was that they found Wang Mo’s move so reckless.

Even General Manager Ma felt that he might have overestimated Wang Mo earlier.

Penguin Group had never shaken Taobao’s position, yet a small Junzi Group was thinking of confronting Taobao.

Could it be that the other party had genuinely gained confidence from their competition with Penguin Group?

At this moment, someone else’s voice rang out.

“Then I’ll congratulate General Manager Ma here first. It looks like it won’t be long before you can acquire another self-operated logistics and warehouse line at a low price.”

Someone raised a toast to General Manager Ma, congratulating him.

In his opinion,

Pinduoduo’s outcome would be similar to JD.com, only serving to benefit Taobao.

After all, in this world, JD.com was eventually acquired by Taobao.

General Manager Ma also smiled and clinked glasses.

“The cost of direct logistics and warehouses is extremely high; not many groups can sustain this expenditure.”

“Half a year.”

“Within half a year, I will make this Pinduoduo delist directly.”

“I will make them understand how ridiculous the idea of challenging Taobao’s position is.”

General Manager Ma was also quite confident in his Taobao.

After all, over so many years, Taobao had faced not dozens but at least a dozen challengers.

But without exception, all these challengers were defeated by Taobao.

Therefore, General Manager Ma didn’t even put this new challenger in his eyes.

At this time,

not just General Manager Ma,

almost no one among all the tycoons in the room was optimistic about Pinduoduo’s prospects.

The impending launch of Pinduoduo, a minor interlude, did not affect their gathering in any way.

Besides them,

hardly anyone outside was looking forward to Pinduoduo’s future, as if Pinduoduo’s sudden demise was only a matter of time.

After all, this time it wasn’t a short video field that no one had ever ventured into.

Under these circumstances,

a week later,

Pinduoduo quietly appeared in the application stores of various mobile phones!

Chapter 44: Pinduoduo Launches, Low-Price Strategy Impacts the Market!

After Pinduoduo was listed, it did not attract much attention at first, and there were not even any trending searches.

Wang Mo also did not promote Pinduoduo much.

In his opinion,

Pinduoduo had not yet reached the stage of aggressive promotion.

However, even so,

he still placed some Pinduoduo advertisements on Douyin.

Because currently, Douyin has as many as 45 million active users.

So within a few days,

Douyin quickly brought hundreds of thousands of basic users to Pinduoduo.

These users were attracted by Pinduoduo’s advertisements for low prices and good value.

This was also the promotional strategy Wang Mo had prepared from the beginning.

Before the Hundred Billion Subsidy was launched, he wanted the words “low price and good value” to become synonymous with Pinduoduo.

And these first batch of Pinduoduo users quickly discovered that this shopping software called Pinduoduo was somewhat different from other shopping software.

The biggest difference was that Pinduoduo’s purchasing method had an added option called “group buying.”

If a group purchase was successful, the price of the item purchased would be cheaper than the original price by a certain amount; even if the group purchase was not successful, it could still be purchased at the original price.

To increase the success rate of group purchases, many users would subconsciously pull their friends around them to join the group purchase with them, instead of waiting for others to join.

This group buying strategy was a key strategy that allowed Pinduoduo to persist in its early stages.

...

In a university dormitory in Modu.

The third roommate, who was just browsing videos on Douyin, stumbled upon a Pinduoduo advertisement.

This advertisement didn’t just recommend Pinduoduo; it displayed various low-priced items within Pinduoduo.

When a user clicked on a low-priced item, intending to buy it, they would then discover that they needed to download another application.

After seeing this advertisement, the third roommate initially didn’t plan to download Pinduoduo, as he already had Taobao on his phone.

But in this Pinduoduo advertisement on Douyin, he saw a pair of shoes he had wanted to buy for a long time.

And these shoes were fifty to sixty yuan cheaper than on Taobao.

“It can’t be that cheap, can it?”

The third roommate muttered, and although he found it hard to believe, he still placed his finger on the download button.

These shoes originally cost six to seven hundred yuan and had never been on sale. He had always wanted to buy them but felt they were a bit expensive.

Not long after,

Pinduoduo finished downloading.

The third roommate eagerly clicked it open, then began searching for the shoes he wanted.

When the price appeared, it truly stunned him.

“It really is more than fifty yuan cheaper, and it’s genuine.”

“But what’s this group buying all about?”

“If six people successfully form a group, there’s an additional fifty yuan off!”

Looking at the price of the shoes on Pinduoduo, the third roommate abruptly sat up from his bed.

The price after a successful group purchase was indeed too tempting for him.

Thinking of this,

the third roommate jumped directly off his bed.

“Boss, fourth, quickly help me group buy something!”

“Won’t it be cool if everyone in our dorm has a pair?”

“What, not interested?”

“Then I’ll go find others.”

After saying that, the third roommate ran out of the dorm to find people in other rooms of the dormitory to form a group.

A few hours later,
