You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

2: Section 2Chapter 2: The Unfavored Short Video App – Begin Development! (First day, requesting everything!)

”A software primarily focused on short videos.”

Zhang Fan scratched his head and said.

”Boss, it’s not that I’m saying anything, but how could anyone like watching videos that are only a dozen seconds long? Maybe it’s interesting if you occasionally see one, but the software we’re planning to build is primarily based on short videos. It won’t attract users.”

”Besides,”

”The user numbers for the three major video software have already hit their ceiling; the video software market is saturated.”

Hearing this, Wang Mo shook his head.

”Douyin is a short video app; don’t define it using ordinary video software.”

”Anyway, I’ve made up my mind. You decide whether you want to stay or leave.”

The three exchanged glances. Although hesitation flickered in their eyes, no one spoke up to say they wanted to leave.

After all, they also had considerable affection for this company.

Apart from Zhang Fan, the other two members of the trio were named Qin Haisheng and Zhao Ming.

At this moment,

Zhang Fan also patted Wang Mo on the shoulder.

”Alright, Boss, no one can stop your decisions anyway. I’ll take one last gamble with you.”

After Zhang Fan finished speaking,

Qin Haisheng, on the other side, couldn’t help but ask,

”But Boss, even if we stick with you, the future of this short video software isn’t clear.”

”Take Penguin Video as an example; it has to constantly invest large amounts of capital to shoot new film and television works to maintain user activity.”

”Every new film and television work can extend users’ online time.”

”And these types of long-form film and television videos are typically several, or even more than a dozen, hours long.”

”If our software only has short videos of a dozen seconds, then it means we must have a large quantity of short videos to retain users.”

”But for a small company like ours, we simply don’t have the energy or funds to produce that many short videos.”

Hearing this,

Wang Mo smiled and shook his head.

”You’re wrong about that.”

”We don’t need to produce the video content within the software.”

The three were somewhat confused.

”Isn’t the content of video software always produced by the company behind it? Why don’t we need to? So where will the short videos in Douyin come from?”

Wang Mo took a deep breath.

”Users.”

”Users?” Zhang Fan asked, puzzled.

Wang Mo nodded.

”That’s right.”

”It’s the users.”

”Within our software, users are both consumers and producers.”

”Users themselves create and upload videos to share, and most of the short video content they see is also videos uploaded by other users.”

After hearing Wang Mo’s explanation, Qin Haisheng was even more confused.

He quickly said,

”Will short videos made by users themselves be appealing?”

Wang Mo smiled.

”You don’t need to worry about that.”

”You just need to trust me.”

With that, Wang Mo looked around at everyone.

”Come to my office for a meeting in an hour. In the meantime, you can finish up your current work.”

”For the time that follows, I need you to devote all your energy to the development of Douyin.”

”This software will be our first step to fame.”

Then, Wang Mo walked back to his office.

Currently,

He indeed had a very crucial task to do.

In his previous life, there were actually quite a large number of short video software.

After all, the code for a short video software is not complicated; any software company can create its own short video software.

Even the software companies in this world have this capability; it’s just that no company has discovered the potential of short videos yet.

And the reason Douyin was ultimately able to emerge victorious was a crucial one.

That was Douyin’s Big Data promotion.

It would allow different people to see the short video content they liked and wanted to see.

If someone liked watching beautiful women, then nine out of ten videos he scrolled through would be of that type.

If someone liked watching technology, the videos he scrolled through would basically be of that kind.

And this,

Was a key factor in Douyin’s explosion in popularity.

Even if he developed Douyin at this time, without the blessing of Big Data promotion, the software would probably end up being mediocre, and companies like Penguin would quickly release competing products.

In his previous life, he was not only a programmer and a technical expert, but he had also studied the Douyin founder’s books on Big Data.

They contained a detailed explanation of Douyin’s Big Data.

And now,

He was preparing to fully replicate it!

In this world, where Big Data currently doesn’t exist at all, this would be a decisive move.

Thinking of this,

Wang Mo immediately opened his computer, preparing to build the simple framework of Douyin’s Big Data while his memories of his previous life were still clear.

An hour later, Zhang Fan and the other two also entered the office.

After a half-day meeting to decide on various details,

Wang Mo assigned the initial development tasks for Douyin to Zhang Fan and the other two.

The capabilities of these three were sufficient to initially create the framework and content of a short video software; Wang Mo only needed to perform various improvements, optimizations, and refinements at the final stage.

And now, Wang Mo was focusing on building Douyin’s Big Data.

As the software officially entered the development phase, Douyin’s launch also entered its countdown.

Chapter 3: Development Completed, Officially Launched! (First day, requesting everything!)

Since the development difficulty of this software was not high, a complete framework was already in place within a few days, thanks to everyone’s full-throttle development.

After that,

The time was spent on perfecting and adjusting this framework.

Since Zhang Fan and the other two regarded this software as Wang Mo’s final act, they also put in their utmost effort, spending almost twenty-four hours a day, excluding eating, drinking, and sleeping, on developing the software.

During this time, Wang Mo also completely built Douyin’s Big Data.

However, this Big Data was currently just a framework. Although it was integrated into Douyin, it still needed subsequent user data for training and final refinement to function effectively.

Of course,

This step could only be carried out and achieved after the software was launched.

And as time continued to pass,

Half a month later,

Douyin was finally successfully developed.

Wang Mo also performed subsequent updates, optimizations, and improvements on the short video software created by the three.
