Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Great Rescue, Please Don’t Do It Again

”Big brother, you really do dislike girls, don’t you? You didn’t even invite Ino?”

Kano appeared behind the group that was ready to set off, and Shikamaru spoke without even turning his head.

”You have the nerve to say that about me? Didn’t you also leave out the boys on your last mission? We’re both in the same boat.”

”Fine, fine. Take this; there’s a three-star fan inside.”

Kano tossed over a scroll. Shikamaru looked bewildered; what use was this to him? He couldn’t even use this ninja tool.

”If you can’t beat an enemy in a one-on-one fight, take this out. Someone will come to save you.”

She was acting like a riddler again. Shikamaru hated it when his sister spoke like this; it was really taxing to figure out.

”Naruto!”

”Kano-chan! Don’t worry, I will definitely bring Sasuke back!”

Naruto gave a thumbs-up and promised Kano.

”Mhm, I believe you. Then this will count as the request for the bet you lost to me; you must come back safely.”

Kano knew Naruto wouldn’t be able to bring him back, and she didn’t actually expect him to. She was just using it to give him a boost.

”Also, you must listen to my brother. He’s very smart. No matter what he does, you must trust him. There must be a reason for his actions, just like how you trust me and I trust you.”

Shikamaru hadn’t expected his sister to speak up for him. Given Naruto’s fondness for Kano-chan, this troublemaker would likely be much more obedient, which was a huge help.

”I understand, Kano-chan. We’re heading out then.”

”Safe travels! I’ll treat you all to a meal when you return!”

After bidding everyone farewell, Kano put on her Virtual Idol Skin and donned the Akatsuki red cloud robe (a secret imitation she’d made earlier), preparing to head out and stir up some trouble.

The Sound Five would all die in battle; that was inevitable, as those who played with Cursed Seals didn’t live long. Moreover, it would be better for them to be brought back via Edo Tensei. The combat power of these five was decent, especially that fat guy’s Earth Release, which seemed very convenient.

Additionally, her friends would be seriously injured, so Kano could go and save them. She wanted her friends to grow, but she didn’t want them to be in real danger.

Kano dressed this way specifically to avoid being recognized.

Afterward, Kano followed them all the way.

”System, I won’t be able to finish today’s task. Cancel it for me. I probably won’t be back tomorrow either, so can you arrange a task for tomorrow that’s moderately difficult and doesn’t require singing or dancing?”

[Wow, host, you have so many requests. It’s so troublesome to set things up this way o(′^｀)o]

”Just tell me if you can do it or not.”

[It’s possible (′-ι_-｀), but doing this might delay things a lot, and I’ll have to work overtime for a long time ??o·(? ??????????? )?o·?]

”I’ve been diligently singing and dancing as an Idol for so long, which has delayed my cultivation for ages. Can’t you help me out? Besides, I’m not even asking for a specific reward.”

[You said it! Then I’ll swap your reward for some truly useless junk (?`~′?). It just so happens there’s a trashy system being despised by its host; I feel like we’re in the same boat and want to help it out (?˙▽˙?)]

”What? You sound very dissatisfied with me as your host. I’ve been singing and dancing just for your performance metrics. Since you’re not satisfied with me, I won’t do the tasks anymore.”

[No, no, no Σ(?д?|||)?? host is the best! How could I be dissatisfied with you? You’re the most reliable host (*’ε`*). The tasks must continue (ˊ?ˋ*)?]
