Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 146: Chapter 146: The Sasuke Retrieval Arc Begins

The next day, Kakashi left the Village alone to take on a mission. He didn’t dare stay, unsure what kind of mess the idle Kano might cause next.

Tsunade also felt that Kano being too idle wasn’t a good thing, so she wanted to assign her some missions. But for some reason, Kano was constantly singing and dancing (doing System missions), and if she were actually sent out, the Villagers wouldn’t be happy.

Having finished her mission today, Kano casually tossed the Candy Beans rewarded by the System into her mouth and chewed them up.

Suddenly, four figures appeared and knelt on one knee before her.

These four people were the Otogakure Four, and their purpose for this trip should be Sasuke.

”Your purpose for this trip is Sasuke, right!”

Kano wore an expression that suggested everything was under control, looking at the four people kneeling before her.

”Ah? We are not here for Sasuke. We wish to request that you continue treating Lord Orochimaru’s arm.”

Kidōmaru, the leader, respectfully explained to Kano. It turned out that Orochimaru wanted to study Kano’s Genjutsu, but in the process of researching it, he ended up dispelling the illusion. His hands immediately became unusable again, and he started screaming in pain.

Kano, having guessed incorrectly, felt a bit awkward, and her small face flushed. But she didn’t want to admit she was wrong, so she stubbornly insisted:

”If I say you are here for Sasuke, then you are here for Sasuke!”

”Yes, that’s right, we are here for Sasuke. Please give us your next instruction, Lady Kano.”

Kidōmaru was extremely respectful because Orochimaru had instructed them to treat Kano like his own grandmother and not neglect her in any way.

”Mhm, yes, that’s exactly right. How could my plan possibly go wrong?”

After clarifying Orochimaru’s current situation, Kano finally understood the whole story. She had been wondering why Sasuke hadn’t defected from Konoha yet. It turned out that Kano’s previous words had scared Orochimaru, making him afraid to lay a hand on Sasuke, lest he be killed by the Reaper Death Seal.

Although Orochimaru had long prepared a plan to capture Sasuke, because of Kano, he could only settle for using that Fūma Clan body for the time being.

If it weren’t for Kano’s scare tactic, Sasuke would have been taken away by Otogakure long ago, and wouldn’t be playing everyday games with them.

”I see. Then take Sasuke back with you. As for Orochimaru’s condition, I will go visit him personally later.”

”Yes.”

Kano figured that Orochimaru was still Sasuke’s opportunity; Naruto had Master Jiraiya, she had Master Tsunade, so Sasuke shouldn’t lose his ”Orochi-son.”

”Wait a moment, I have one more instruction. After taking Sasuke, Orochimaru can research whatever he wants, but he must absolutely not think about taking over Sasuke’s body. Furthermore, try to avoid those heinous human experiments as much as possible.

Otherwise, he will die. I mean it.”

”Yes, we will certainly pass on the message.”

After giving her instructions, Kano sighed.

Is Team 7 about to split up? They actually got along quite well. She was also a little reluctant to see Sasuke go, and if possible, she hoped he could stay. But if Sasuke stayed, he would lose a lot of power.

So Kano could only make arrangements for him so that he wouldn’t be in danger even when he reached Orochimaru’s place... Time came to night, and Kano walked alone through Konoha Village.

Rather than walking, she was waiting for someone.

”Are you leaving?”

Sasuke, carrying a bag, stopped beside Kano. Was this the opportunity Kano had mentioned? It seemed she had known all along. Sasuke also knew that he might gain more power from Orochimaru.

”Do you want me to leave?”

”I don’t want you to leave, but I support your leaving. Orochimaru’s side will make you stronger; learn more skills from him. I wish you success in your revenge.”

”Thank you, then goodbye.”

”Once your revenge succeeds, no matter what others tell you, or whatever truth you hear, I hope you will first return to Konoha Village. I will be waiting for you here, and Naruto will be waiting for you here too.”

”I understand.”
