Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Zabuza’s Attack

”By the way, Tazuna-san...”

At the same time, it was Kakashi’s interrogation time. He questioned why he hid the information, and after interrogating the captured Hidden Mist Village Chunin, he finished them off along the way.

Third Shadow Ninja get!

Because Tazuna had hidden the information, Kakashi asked everyone for their opinion on whether they should continue the mission.

Naruto and Kano insisted on doing it. Sasuke had no opinion.

Afterward, everyone set off again to continue the mission.

Seeing that everyone was a bit tense, Kano played half a lullaby to calm their nerves. The reason she didn’t play the whole song was for fear that they would stop being tense and just fall asleep.

It was only when it was time to take the ferry that Kano put away her guitar and spoke in a low voice.

After that, they went ashore and entered the Land of Waves. None of them felt the joy of entering a foreign country for the first time; they all remained vigilant and advanced carefully. Except for Kano, who was still swinging her feet leisurely.

”If we encounter an attack, I’m afraid it will be at least a Chunin, if not a Jonin. Good grief.”

Kakashi observed the surroundings vigilantly and muttered to himself.

Then, Naruto suddenly had an episode!

”Over there!”

A Kunai flew from his hand! It flew straight into the bushes! Then he struck a very pretentious pose.

”Aha, what, it was just a mouse.”

”You idiot, don’t throw Kunai recklessly, it’s dangerous!”

”Hey, brat, don’t do things that cause misunderstandings over there!”

”Sorry, sorry.”

Naruto apologized with a laugh.

”There seems to be a shadow there—no, is it this way? Right here!”

Naruto, having learned nothing, threw another Kunai.

This time, even Sasuke wanted to scold him, but he noticed that Kano had started putting on her shoes.

Last time, Kano had also started putting on her shoes before encountering danger. Could there be danger this time as well?

He hadn’t discovered the danger, but he had discovered Kano, who had discovered the danger.

Then Kakashi went forward to check and found it was just a rabbit. But then he realized the rabbit’s fur color was wrong; this didn’t look like a rabbit grown naturally in the wild, but more like one used for a substitution!

”Everyone, get down!”

Kano pushed Naruto’s head down, and Sasuke also pulled Tazuna to the ground. Immediately after, the kubikiribōchō flew over everyone’s heads, and the Shadow Deer carrying Kano’s luggage and the one she was riding were both decapitated.

The great sword embedded itself into a tree without resistance, and a masked man with a bare chest and bandages stood on the handle, his back to the crowd.

Is this Zabuza Momochi? He’s much scarier than in the anime. Looking at the terrifying figure on the tree, Kano could hardly resist summoning the Shadow Ninja.

Naruto, that fool, didn’t know the danger and was itching for action.

”Yo, isn’t this the Hidden Mist rogue ninja—Zabuza Momochi?”

Kakashi stepped forward to greet him, shielding the others behind him.

Naruto didn’t know what a rogue ninja was, and he wasn’t about to let Sasuke steal the spotlight, so he dashed forward.

Seeing the idiot rushing to his death, Kano grabbed Naruto’s clothes.

”If you rush out, you idiot, who’s going to protect me...!”

”Ah, right, sorry, sorry.”

Naruto scratched his head and retreated in front of Kano.

Sasuke was already prepared for battle, ready to launch an attack at any moment.

”You guys get back. This enemy can’t be compared to the last two at all. If the opponent is this guy, it might be a bit of a struggle.”

Kakashi adjusted his headband, ready to open his eye at any moment.

”It seems you are Sharingan Kakashi.”
