Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Kakashi’s Test

The Three Little Ones all retreated at once and hid themselves, preparing for their next move.

For a Ninja, the most basic skill is hiding one’s presence.

”Not bad, everyone is hiding well.”

Kano hid directly with Sasuke. As for Naruto... ”Ah, let’s have a fair and square showdown!”

Kakashi was stunned; what kind of fool is this?

Sasuke, hiding in a tree, couldn’t help but curse.

”That super idiot.”

”We’ll gather information on Kakashi-sensei while Naruto intentionally exposes himself; this will be more beneficial for our next move.” Kano took the opportunity to discuss tactics with Sasuke. ”You’re the best among the three of us, so after Naruto is subdued, I’ll go out to distract Kakashi. You take the chance to grab the bells.”

”Okay.”

Sasuke had a good impression of Kano; after all, she wasn’t noisy like other girls and didn’t cause trouble like Naruto. She was a very useful person.

”Hey, you, is there something wrong with you?”

”It’s your aesthetic sense for hair that has a problem!”

Kakashi and Naruto began to fight. Unsurprisingly, Naruto was dominated by Kakashi with one hand. He was sent flying by One Thousand Years of Death, beaten up by his own Shadow Clones, and then stepped into a trap and was hung up.

”A Ninja must see through a plot within a plot...”

Just as Kakashi was lecturing Naruto, Sasuke moved.

”Good chance!”

Sasuke instantly threw several shuriken!

”Hm!”

Kano also seized the opportunity, revealing herself near Kakashi. The moment Kakashi was hit by the shuriken, she swung her hunting flute and smashed it down heavily.

The hunting flute immediately emitted a low echo.

Naruto was stunned; Sasuke and Kano were going for the kill!

”Whoa, he’s dead, he’s dead! You didn’t have to be so ruthless!”

Then, the Kakashi who had been pierced by shuriken and smashed by the hunting flute turned into a log.

Kano, of course, knew Kakashi would use the Substitution Jutsu. Her goals were first to cooperate with Sasuke in a sneak attack, and second to save Naruto!

Stepping on the handle of the hunting flute, she jumped and used a Kunai to cut the rope, then picked up Naruto and ducked into the bushes.

Knowing there was a second trap on the ground, Kano didn’t even touch the floor; otherwise, there would be two people hanging from the tree now.

”3Q, Kano-chan, saved by you again.”

”Kakashi-sensei used the Substitution Jutsu, so he must have found us. We won’t escape if we run together, let’s split up.”

”Yeah!”

The two immediately fled in opposite directions. Sasuke, having exposed his position, was also escaping quickly.

With all three running, Kakashi could only chase one for the moment.

”Is it saving a teammate on the way, or launching a surprise attack...”

Kakashi was currently very satisfied with Kano; she was cautious when saving someone, and the second trap he set hadn’t even been triggered.

This surprise attack was clearly a collaboration between Kano and Sasuke, and a quite good one at that.

If it had been any other Chunin in that position just now, they would be dead as dead can be.

”Then I’ll test Kano first.”

Kakashi chased directly in the direction Kano had left.

Kano wasn’t just running; she was also confirming Naruto and Kakashi’s positions. When she couldn’t find Kakashi at all...

”Is he really chasing me after all?”

In the original work, he chased Sakura here and took her down first.

Kano simply stopped running; she couldn’t outrun Kakashi anyway. Instead, she found an open space and stopped.

”Not running anymore?”

Just as she stopped, Kakashi arrived, meaning Kano had actually been caught long ago.

”I’m not running. Next, it’s my turn to deal with you, Kakashi-sensei.”

Then she summoned her hunting flute and slammed it into the ground. A giant conch was stuck on top of the staff, and the staff was driven into the soil.

Kano steadied the hunting flute with her arm and began to form hand seals clumsily.

”Is this your weapon?”

Kakashi looked at this cumbersome weapon; it didn’t suit a small Ninja like Kano at all. So, he didn’t take it to heart, not thinking it could pose any threat to him.

”No, this is my musical instrument!”

”Musical instrument?”

”Hmph, next I’m going to cast Genjutsu!”

”Oh, let me see your Genjutsu.”

Kakashi was confident he wouldn’t be affected by a Genin’s Genjutsu, not to mention he had the Sharingan to easily break it. However, there was no need to use the Sharingan against a child.

”Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!”

Kano took a deep breath and blew hard into the pipe next to the hunting flute’s handle.

Although she hadn’t learned Wind Release: Great Breakthrough well enough to use it for attack, increasing the blowing force slightly to play the hunting flute should be fine.

What followed was an ethereal melody like ocean waves; the beautiful melody spread through the entire forest like waves.

”A sound-based Genjutsu? I’ll see what the effect of this Genjutsu is.”

Kakashi stood there quietly, waiting for Kano to perform.

Strength aside, it actually sounded quite good.

As the performance ended, the forest became quiet again.

[Task Completion Reward: Basic Musical Appeal, Qiaole Sheet Music, Marching Score, Lullaby Score, Tear Music Score, Requiem Music Score]

With the rewards received, the task was considered complete.

”Huh? Kakashi-sensei, why didn’t you fall for it?”

”Your Genjutsu is way too weak.”

Kakashi was speechless about Kano’s Genjutsu. He hadn’t felt even a hint of Chakra fluctuation from it. To put it bluntly, it was just playing music, not even close to Genjutsu.

In reality, Kano was just playing music; she didn’t know Genjutsu.

”Let me teach you real Genjutsu.”

Kakashi formed hand seals, a flurry of leaves passed by, and Kano’s eyes went dull as she immediately fell into a Genjutsu, standing still on the spot.

”Falling for it so easily, sigh... Ninja Tactical Lesson Two: Genjutsu.”

Kakashi paused mid-sentence.

”Got him!”

Sasuke launched a sneak attack with shuriken from behind again. This was the tactic he and Kano had agreed upon: as soon as he heard music, it meant Kakashi was with her, and she would use the music to stall him.

During this time, Sasuke would rush over, but he wouldn’t act in a hurry; he had to seize the right moment.

When Kakashi made a move on her, that would be his opening!

As usual, Kakashi dodged using the Substitution Jutsu, but Sasuke had anticipated it and threw shuriken again.

Kakashi had to backflip to dodge, barely avoiding the attack.

”Tsk, still didn’t hit him?”

Just then, Naruto appeared.

”Ah! Kakashi! Take this!”

He had been drawn by the mysterious music, and as soon as he arrived, he ran right into Kakashi. Without a second’s hesitation, he threw a punch of revenge.

”Waa!”

But Kakashi propped himself up with one hand and, unable to hold back his strength, kicked Naruto away.

Sasuke also seized the opportunity and quickly formed hand seals.

”Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!”

A Genin can use this kind of Ninjutsu?!

Kakashi was startled and immediately used Earth Release to dive underground and hide.

”He’s gone! Behind me? No, above? Where is he?”

”Below you!” A hand reached out from the earth and grabbed Sasuke’s ankle. ”Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique!”

With a scream, Sasuke was buried in the ground.

”Ninja Tactical Lesson Three: Ninjutsu. Well? You can’t move now, can you?”

Kakashi squatted down and mocked Sasuke.

Sasuke, with only his head showing, smirked and mocked Kakashi back.

”Hehe, you can’t move either, can you?”

The next second.

”Ninja Art: Shadow Binding Technique!”
