Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Shadow Monarch’s Monarch Has Been Optimized

”Sleep~ sleep~ my dear baby... Ah! The baby peed on me!”

”Shh! idiot, don’t shout! What if you wake the baby up...!”

Sasuke took the small infant from Naruto’s hands and skillfully changed the diaper, while Naruto took the opportunity to change his clothes.

”Kano’s lullaby is really amazing; the little baby didn’t even wake up. It looks like today’s mission will be easily completed too.”

Kakashi, who was idly reading an adult novel on the side, remarked.

Kano held a melodica, playing a soothing lullaby; anyone who heard the tune would feel inner peace and grow drowsy.

”Aren’t there any missions with more of a sense of urgency?!”

”Shh! Keep it down...!”

Kano, on the other hand, felt that this mundane daily life was quite nice; at least there was plenty of free time to cultivate during the daily missions.

She could also grind missions along the way.

[An Idol’s performance is a sharing of love. To give love to others is to give love to oneself, and love knows no bounds of gender or age! Please perform for an elderly person over 70 or a child under 3 and receive their recognition (*^ω^*). Reward for completion: Basic Dance Skills.]

Over these past few days, she had taken the opportunity during missions to grind many simple tasks.

She obtained rewards that didn’t significantly affect combat power, such as dance styles, voice-changing techniques, musical instrument mastery, Melatonin (Whitening Potion), Hair Conditioner (Silky Hair), Oral Perfume (Orchid Body Fragrance Pill)... This was mainly to help the system grind tasks for commissions, making it easier to exchange for other rewards. Additionally, she was grinding popularity points to save up for powerful Forbidden Jutsu.

She had already saved up 72 popularity points, but as for the Forbidden Jutsu... it was still a long way off.

[It’s because the host is only playing around. If you just held a concert, wouldn’t you have saved enough by now? (~0~)]

”It’s not that easy! Who in this Konoha Village would be bored enough to just come and listen to me sing?”

Not to mention anything else, the popularity points gained from just daily singing, if all used to increase Chakra capacity, would be much faster than regular cultivation.

This leisurely pace of missions was very suitable for Kano’s cultivation. Now she had already learned several Water Release techniques, and even the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, though her Chakra wasn’t enough to use it properly.

She hadn’t learned Ninjutsu of other attributes yet, only Wind Release: Great Breakthrough.

After all, there are two ways to play the hunting flute: one is by swinging it, playing through the air currents generated by the movement; the other is by simply blowing into it.

For swinging, Kano was still young, and her strength wasn’t enough even with training. For blowing, her lung capacity was also insufficient, but she could use Wind Release: Great Breakthrough to blow into it. Using the Ninjutsu this way helped her become proficient with it.

At this moment, Naruto was completely losing his patience.

”Don’t give us missions like this anymore!”

After handing in the mission, Naruto protested to the Third Hokage, who was issuing new tasks.

”I want to carry out more impressive missions! Give me something else.”

Kano didn’t mind, thinking the daily routine was fine. But Sasuke was also getting a bit impatient; though he didn’t say it, he strongly agreed with Naruto.

Kakashi had long anticipated this outcome.

”Bakayaro! You’re just greenhorns! Everyone starts by accumulating experience with simple missions!”

Seeing Naruto being so disrespectful to Hokage-sama, Iruka stood up and scolded him.

”But, but, all the missions lately have been so boring!”

Actually, the missions over the past few days were easy for Kano. For simple physical labor like weeding or plowing, Naruto solved it directly with Shadow Clones, while Kano stood by singing and cheering him and Sasuke on.

For slightly harder tasks like driving away wild boars or catching cats, Sasuke finished them easily on his own. Kano at most helped plan the routes.

Then there was handling neighborhood disputes or babysitting. With Naruto’s Talk no Jutsu and Kano’s accompaniment, these were also completed effortlessly.

Kano gained quite a few popularity points, but Naruto and Sasuke gained nothing, so they were more anxious.

”Enough is enough, you brat.”

Kakashi knocked Naruto down with a punch. The Third Hokage took the opportunity to explain the mission ranking system.

”I had tonkotsu ramen for lunch yesterday; let’s have miso today.”

”Listen!”

Seeing that Team Kakashi wasn’t listening at all and was chatting among themselves, the Third Hokage finally snapped.

”I-I’m so sorry.”

Even Kakashi had been led astray by Naruto.

Then, after a burst of Talk no Jutsu from Naruto, the Third Hokage compromised and gave them a C-rank mission.

Kano, of course, knew exactly what was happening; this was the Land of Waves Arc.

It was better to participate in this mission.

”Why is it nothing but brats!”

A drunken old man wobbled into the mission hall.

”Especially the second shortest one, who looks super stupid. Are you really a Ninja?”

”Ahaha, who are you talking about? The second smallest, the one who looks the most dazed...”

Then Naruto saw Kano, who was shorter than him, and Sasuke, who was taller.

”I’m going to kill you!”

Kano also recognized this person. Although she had forgotten his name, she remembered after hearing his self-introduction—Tazuna.

Tazuna was a bridge-building expert from the Land of Waves. To make the Land of Waves great again, he worked hard to build a bridge, but this touched the interests of capitalists. Someone paid to have him killed, so he came to Konoha to find bodyguards.

But he didn’t have enough money, so he had to hide information, which caused an A-rank mission to be disguised as a C-rank mission.
