Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Forbidden Jutsu-Level Mission

Although this mission seemed simple, it actually held hidden complexities. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it was just a sleeping mission; there were quite a few traps hidden within.

First was the timing issue, limited to before nine o’clock. For Kano, who was habitually used to staying up late, falling asleep by nine was no easy feat.

Moreover, there was a condition to sleep through until dawn. In other words, if she woke up in the middle of the night, the mission might be directly interrupted... [Um... actually, it’s not that strict. You can complete the mission just by going to bed early and having a sleep ヽ(?＿?;)ノ...]

The system defended itself in a small voice.

Just as Kano was scratching her head, thinking about how to fall asleep quickly, the Ninja Academy’s bell rang to end class.

Shikamaru also came out from the back door to check on his ”worthless” younger sister.

Seeing her looking absent-minded, Shikamaru walked up and patted her head.

”Stop sleeping and go play for a while. You’ll never make friends if you’re always sleeping during the day and training at night.”

”Leave me alone, you lazy pig.”

Even her parents didn’t know about Kano’s secret training behavior; the only person in the entire Konoha who knew was her older brother, Shikamaru. As twin siblings who spent a lot of time together, secrets naturally couldn’t be kept from him.

Shikamaru didn’t know what his silly sister was thinking. She was clearly excellent, possessing talent, wisdom, and perseverance.

Yet she always showed weakness in front of others, even in front of their parents.

Shikamaru didn’t bother to care about it since it didn’t affect him. He didn’t want to cause trouble for himself, so he simply let his sister fool around.

Kano didn’t want to play with this group of little brats. Although she was a child, her inner self was an adult. Maybe they could play together once they were a bit older.

There was a little over a year left until graduation from the Ninja Academy. Before then, she had to strive to reach the Chunin level. According to the training plan Kano had originally set, it would have been difficult to reach the Chunin level before graduation.

Relying on the system, she should be able to get stronger quickly, right? A system cheat surely wouldn’t be slower than Kano’s own training, would it?

So, Kano clenched her fists with great determination, preparing to honestly do the system missions, starting with the novice mission.

To ensure she could sleep perfectly, Kano went home and asked her father, Shikaku Nara, for some sleeping pills to treat insomnia.

Fortunately, the Nara Clan was a family associated with medicine, so getting some pills was easy, but she was still lectured by her father.

”Insomnia? I think you’re sleeping too much during the day and can’t sleep at night! If I hear news of you sleeping in class again, I’ll use family discipline. Don’t think that just because you’re a girl and your mother protects you, I won’t dare to hit you. Shikamaru, don’t laugh, you too!”

Kano didn’t take this to heart. It wasn’t the first time her father had threatened to hit her while she pretended to be useless since childhood, but every time he was stopped by her mother.

”A girl without talent doesn’t necessarily have to be a ninja. When Kano grows up, she can just find a good family to marry into; there’s no need to suffer so much.”

Although Kano was moved by her mother’s protection, she was still a bit resistant to the idea of being married off. After all, her previous life was as a man; marrying someone was impossible—at least, marrying a man was impossible. If it were a beautiful girl, she might consider it.

Kano returned to her room, locked the doors and windows, drew the curtains, lit sleeping incense, and stuffed a handful of sleeping pills into her mouth.

After all, at nine o’clock, she simply couldn’t fall asleep. Instead of tossing and turning excitedly in bed, it was better to take the drugs and pass out immediately!

It wasn’t until the next morning that her old father broke down the door and dragged Kano out of the room.

[Novice Mission Complete: Obtained ninjutsu fusion scroll x1, Beauty Pill x1]

She was woken up by her father, Shikaku. She was late for class and couldn’t be woken up no matter what. Now, she had received a beating, couldn’t even eat breakfast, and hurried toward the Ninja Academy.

Although Shikamaru knew about this, he feared trouble, so he had slipped away long ago. This resulted in her being hungry, relying only on a sugar pill from her pocket at some unknown time to alleviate her hunger.

Kano touched the bump on her head and didn’t care much. She had been carefree since childhood. Although she hadn’t been beaten much, the hardships she suffered during training were much more painful than a beating.

She never cared about the fact that she had become a girl; it was just a change from peeing standing up to peeing squatting down. All she cared about was whether she could live a peaceful life.

She looked at the ninjutsu fusion scroll in her palm; this should be the item given by the novice mission.

As everyone knows, the things given by novice missions are either basic items or growth-type items and skills.

But no matter how she looked at it, this thing seemed like a one-time-use item?

System, what is this for?

[Let me see... the ninjutsu fusion scroll can fuse two Ninjutsu mastered by the host. The two Ninjutsu used as fusion materials will become unusable and cannot be relearned. The more familiar you are with the fused Ninjutsu, the stronger the resulting Ninjutsu will be. That’s how it’s described (^～^)]

Kano rubbed her chin and thought for a while. If you called it weak, fusing two Ninjutsu would certainly be much stronger than the original Ninjutsu. As long as some high-level Ninjutsu were used for fusion, who knows what kind of mind-blowing Forbidden Jutsu could be created.

If you called it strong, Kano currently only mastered the Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Substitution Technique, plus the family secret techniques, Shadow Imitation Technique and Shadow Binding Technique. The grade of the fusion materials couldn’t go up. Who knows what kind of trash would be fused out.

Moreover, if she fused the basic Ninjutsu, wouldn’t it be difficult to learn other Ninjutsu in the future? Besides, the Three Basic Jutsu are all basic Ninjutsu and would be the lowest grade as materials; at least the Three Jutsus couldn’t be fused. The family secret techniques weren’t very strong, so picking one to fuse would be fine.

She still lacked powerful Ninjutsu. System, give me a more powerful Ninjutsu!

[It just so happens that one of the rewards exchanged last time was a Ninjutsu. Issuing mission: As an Idol, one must not only have excellent talent but also a seductive appearance. The first step to becoming beautiful is learning to dress yourself up; you must not fail your beautiful youth. Dress up beautifully, become the most dazzling girl in the class, and maintain it for one year (*?︶?*).?.:*? Reward: Random A-Rank Ninjutsu Bundle.]

”Can this mission be changed? One year is a bit long.”

In another year, she would be almost graduating from the Ninja Academy, so what use would it be then? Besides, for an A-Rank Ninjutsu, she could ask her father Shikaku for a few; in one year, she could learn several on her own.

And she was unwilling to dress up so conspicuously from the bottom of her heart. If it were some other mission, even if it were to assassinate a Jonin, she would be willing to try.

[I’m sorry (＞﹏＜), the missions generated for each reward are fixed. If the mission is modified, the reward will also disappear. But you don’t like the other rewards I have here, and the better the reward, the more difficult the mission. This kind of cross-system reward has always been the most precious grade... (?•?︿•??)]

Goodbye, I’m going to do my own secret training.

A mere A-Rank Ninjutsu wanted her to cross-dress for a whole year? How could that be possible! Trash system, wasting my time.

[Wait, wait, wait! Don’t call me a trash system anymore. I’ll find a way for you, okay? (T ^ T)]

After a while, the system’s voice rang out again.

[I’ll change it to an S-Rank Ninjutsu for you! How about an S-Rank Ninjutsu (?•? ? •??)?]

Not interested. An S-Rank Ninjutsu isn’t necessarily that strong. And if I train hard for a year, could I not even match an S-Rank Ninjutsu?

[A Forbidden Jutsu! A Forbidden Jutsu! As long as you cross-dress for a year, you can obtain a Forbidden Jutsu! No matter how you think about it, it’s not a loss. And it’s the kind where mastery is guaranteed, full of practicality! Even if host... what is this, Chakra? Er, even if Chakra is insufficient, you can still use it; the system will reduce the Chakra consumption for you (＞＜)]

The Newbie Idol System was clearly not yet familiar with the rules of this ninja world.

Kano recalled the Forbidden Jutsu from the original work: Multi-Shadow Clone, Flying Thunder God... if Chakra wasn’t an issue, they all seemed like very useful Ninjutsu.

Kano’s small face turned red; she was a bit tempted.
