Chapter 336: Chapter 335: The Gradually Chaotic Forest (III)

At that moment, time had stopped.

Perhaps due to the threat of death, Molly felt her mind clearer than ever before, everything in front of her had been halted. The goblins maintained their postures, frozen like statues, even the dust and soil they had stirred up hung suspended in the air. All around, silence reigned, unbroken by any sound.

What shattered the darkness was a dazzling flash of sword light.

Then, time resumed its flow.

“Pfft———!”

Blood splattered.

The goblins still held their prior expressions, their disgusting smiles unchanged, but their bodies had been completely sliced open, turned into piles of mangled flesh, while splattered blood scattered and dripped onto the ground.

Had she been saved… ?

Just as this thought flickered through Molly’s mind, she saw a dark figure appear before her.

“Oh, my god!”

Although Nymph had warned him, Fang Zheng still jumped in shock when he actually witnessed the scene.

“Did I just run into some sort of restricted-level horror game?”

He had to admit; the scene before him was indeed a tremendous shock.

He had traveled through several worlds, but perhaps because those worlds were all “all-ages” friendly, Fang Zheng had never truly witnessed a “restricted-level” scene of this extent. Talking about monstrous creatures, zombies, or invincible beings like the King of Salary, he simply drew his sword and attacked.

But a scene like the one before him, he had only seen in game CGs before being reborn. But those were just games, and when such scenes became reality, the feeling was completely different.

“…this is truly…”

Looking at those elves hanging in the air like slaughtered pigs, their bodies naked, Fang Zheng’s expression darkened; he always considered himself battle-hardened. After all, he had survived worlds of annihilation like the Black Soul and the dark world filled with death and devils, and he had even fought with aliens. In Fang Zheng’s view, having experienced the calamity of “world destruction,” what else should he worry about?

But now, he had to change his mind.

Indeed, if speaking purely from the perspective of “quality,” the scene before him could only be considered “minor evil.” When compared with events like “the extinguishing remnants of the world plunging into eternal darkness,” “killing living people to summon the Devil Legion,” or “alien armies invading Earth,” it hardly even merited mention.

“Compared to you all, even a big pineapple would seem like a classy and noble boss…”

Looking at the scars left by the goblins on the originally delicate bodies of the elves, Fang Zheng’s expression darkened even more. These goblins were indeed weak; they could not crush their enemies into flesh like those legendary powerful Demon Kings. But precisely because they were weak, the cruelty they exhibited was even more spine-chilling.

It was undeniable, the descriptions of elves from the outside world were indeed apt—at least in Fang Zheng’s eyes, their pale delicate skin and finely yet maturely developed limbs were quite enticing, no wonder there was always talk of finding an “elf girlfriend”… of course, assuming you don’t mind that she’s older and lives longer than you.

But now, these beautiful bodies were covered in traces of malice left by the goblins.

They had not inflicted fatal wounds on the elves, but they had cruelly mutilated their bodies. Some of the elves’ breasts had been halved, while others had wounds all over their bodies as if torn by claws. As for their lower bodies… they were simply too horrific to look at.

“Let’s not dwell on this for now; there seems to be one still alive.”

Fang Zheng quickly diverted his gaze, then crouched down looking at the dagger stuck in the abdomen of the elf maiden, his brow furrowed.

“Hey, are you still alive?”

“Uhh… who are… you?”

“Being alive is good.”

Seeing the elf maiden’s reaction, Fang Zheng finally breathed a sigh of relief, and then he reached out his hand to grasp the dagger.

“Wait a second, I’m going to pull this dagger out of your body; it might hurt a lot, you need to endure.”

“I, I understand!”

Perhaps because she was being rescued, Molly, who felt weak all over, now felt as if she had regained her strength and nodded vigorously.

“Before that, I have a question for you, when were you attacked?” ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

“… It was in the morning…”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Molly was somewhat surprised; she had thought he would immediately pull out the dagger and treat her, but instead, he asked a question she could never have anticipated. Even so, Molly honestly replied.

“What time exactly?”

“When the Praying Star was rising…”

“So, seven o’clock then?”

Hearing Molly’s response, Fang Zheng muttered to himself, then he took out a pocket watch from his chest and glanced at the time on it.

“One more question, are all your companions here?”

“Yes, they are all here…”

“Very well, you must endure!”

“Hiss!”

Before his words had even finished echoing, Fang Zheng reached out, and yanked the dagger embedded in the elf maiden’s abdomen out. Right after that…

“Aahhh!!”

Although mentally prepared, the moment the dagger was pulled out, Molly couldn’t help but scream in agony. Fang Zheng just glanced at her, then immediately spoke.

“Wendy! Initiate Time Rewind, target, all elves within range, time, seven hours ago!”

“Yah-!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s command, the Little Fire Dragon perched on Fang Zheng’s shoulder also cried out. It then spread its wings, and as the Little Fire Dragon moved, a golden, gargantuan magic circle appeared inside the dungeon, enveloping everything like a clock dial.

“Click, click, click—”

Soon, the clock dial’s hands began to rotate counterclockwise. Throughout this process, the wounds on Molly and the other elves’ bodies healed with visible speed—not healing, per se, rather, their bodies were being reverted to a time before their injuries occurred.

And this was the power of time.

Specifically, the power of the “Time Rewind” that Wendy possessed.

Although the “Time” skill had three varieties, each could only be used once a day, totaling three times, when used correctly, they proved to be exceptionally useful tools.

Just like now.

“Swoosh!”

With a single swing of his sword, Fang Zheng caused the ropes binding the elves’ bodies to snap and shatter. Immediately, the elves fell to the ground. Even so, they remained lifeless, like soulless puppets. They lay on the ground, exposed without resistance to a never-before-seen human male, showing no reaction whatsoever.

“Ah…”

Observing the scene before him, Fang Zheng shook his head. While he felt excitement when encountering such scenes in adult-rated games before his rebirth, those were just games. The present scenario was reality, not avatars in a game that could be manipulated without consequences—they were living beings.

Sighing resignedly, Fang Zheng pulled out a cloak from his space and tossed it casually over the elves. Just then, Molly had unlocked the dungeon and was exiting with the remaining two little fairy survivors.

“I truly appreciate your help, kind human sir,”

Approaching Fang Zheng, Molly placed her hands on her chest and bowed in the most solemn gesture known to the Elf Race when facing a life-saving benefactor. This was not only because Fang Zheng had saved her life but also because he had prevented their desecration by those wicked creatures. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if those creatures had succeeded.

“Don’t mention it, I also have some questions for you… You live here, how did you end up captured by a bunch of Goblins?”

This was something Fang Zheng couldn’t understand. With Nymph’s guidance, he had cleared out all the Goblins in the cave, which normally served only as fodder for adventurers and were of no significant threat. Therefore, Fang Zheng couldn’t comprehend how these elves had fallen prey to them.

By their numbers, there were easily more than a dozen—surely if attacked or ambushed, at least some could have escaped to raise the alarm, but it seemed like they had been annihilated?

“No, it’s not just these Goblins!”

At this point, color drained from Molly’s face as she seemed to recall something.

“There was another, very powerful, terribly fearsome presence! I don’t know what it was, but it was incredibly formidable!”

According to Molly, their patrol had set out at dawn, intending to follow a prearranged route to patrol the entire Elf Forest. But at the outer perimeter of the forest, they spotted a large army of nearly a hundred Goblins preparing to enter the Forest of Life.

The elves could not tolerate these vile creatures desecrating their forest, so they launched an attack on the Goblins. Surprisingly, these typically cowardly creatures, who would normally collapse at the first sign of an attack, displayed an unprecedented bravery and fiercely attacked the elves. Realizing the abnormality of the situation, the elves decided to retreat to their village to notify others, but suddenly, a mysterious shadow appeared.

Molly could not clearly describe what the shadow was. She had only glimpsed it out of the corner of her eye before a profound fear burst from deep within her heart, causing her to faint.

When the elves awoke, they found themselves captured by the Goblins and taken here.

“Is that so?”

Hearing Molly’s description, Fang Zheng frowned. He indeed didn’t believe these Goblins posed any threat to the elves, but a shadow…

“By the way, Miss Elf, there is something else I need to ask you.”

Collecting his thoughts, Fang Zheng once again faced the elf before him.

“Actually, we are here for the Order Alliance’s graduation assessment. We received a task claiming that every night recently, a strong light appears at the summit of Peak of Ice and Snow. Do you know anything about this?”

This was another reason why Fang Zheng had rescued the elves. As natives to the area, if anything was happening at Peak of Ice and Snow, the elves and dwarves were most likely to be aware of it.

“A light?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s query, Molly paused, shaking her head afterward.

“We haven’t seen any light.”

“…”

It seemed this task was becoming increasingly interesting.
