Chapter 317: Chapter 316: I Travel Westward, to the Land of the Dragon

After encountering that woman, Fang Zheng found that his luck seemed to have improved a great deal. Accompanying his increasingly close approach to the United Kingdom, the number of Fire Dragon Hordes he encountered also grew. Not only that, Fang Zheng had also come across several humans, and the displays of these humans when facing Fang Zheng were all different.

Just like the woman had said, even though the rampaging Fire Dragons had forced humans to hide like sewer rats, they were still able to contact each other through some of the communication facilities that hadn’t been abandoned. And the people in these gatherings had clearly heard about “Earth Guardian Neltharion,” and since Fang Zheng did not deliberately conceal his tracks, on the contrary, he kept chasing after the Fire Dragon Hordes. Hence, many survivors had seen him.

And the attitudes of these humans towards Fang Zheng differed as well.

Some believed he was the Savior, weeping bitterly as they knelt before him, pleading for redemption.

Others thought he was actually the Chief Dragon within the Fire Dragon Horde, and that killing him would annihilate the whole horde.

There were even those who believed this was their opportunity, wielding what looked like scrap metal gathered from some godforsaken place, standing before Fang Zheng proclaiming themselves as Knight Predestined by Heaven… Fang Zheng didn’t swallow them whole simply because he didn’t want to eat humans.

However, what surprised Fang Zheng the most was that there were actually those who hoped for the destruction of humanity.

Yes, humans who hoped for the destruction of humanity.

Fang Zheng still remembered when he appeared before them, those people actually cried and knelt on the ground, beseeching Fang Zheng to grant all of humanity an equal destruction. Their logic was clear — humans had recklessly destroyed the land, leading to the emergence of the Fire Dragons, which were a Divine Punishment given to humanity. And as the “Earth Guardian,” he naturally had to take revenge for the Earth and destroy humanity!

Their reasoning was solid, no flaws!

Fang Zheng was dumbfounded himself.

Damn, could it really be interpreted that way? I haven’t even evolved into Wings of Death, have I? Are you pushing me towards a dead end?

Not only that, what astonished Fang Zheng even more was that these people actually volunteered to become Fang Zheng’s Enchanted, to aid him in the destruction of humanity?!

Fang Zheng was utterly speechless. He had not expected that upon his return to Earth, he would witness such an unscientific group of Cultists in such a scientific world, the members of the Doomsday Church must share a common language with these nuts.

In the end, with no other choice, Fang Zheng had to comply with their wishes, and directly “humanely eradicated” them with a single Dragon Breath, lest this bunch of brain-dead Cultists start some sort of world-ending catastrophe in his name… Damn it, these foreigners were really crazy, not living their days properly and constantly dreaming about world destruction and the disappearance of human beings. What kind of sickness was this! Had they gone daft from reading the Bible!

“It’s still not enough… What am I actually missing…”

Staring at the ruins of the city before him, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow. Along the way, he had plundered the time of hundreds and thousands of Fire Dragons, but for some unknown reason, Fang Zheng still felt it was not sufficient. If he had to make a comparison, Fang Zheng now felt like he was at a banquet sampling lavish dishes. He had tasted the spicy fish, sweet and sour pork ribs, and a host of other dishes, but he was yet to consume the most crucial staple food.

Indeed, he had feasted on a plethora of sumptuous “dishes,” but had not yet had the most crucial “staple food.”

This was also why Fang Zheng had always hated banquets; despite the plethora of meats and delicacies, the rice served was only a palmful of a bowl. Apart from birthday banquets where one could satisfy their hunger with longevity noodles, there was generally not much appetizing food.

And more often than not, banquets would serve dishes first and staple food last. Each course was spaced out, leaving Fang Zheng feeling full as he ate, only to be unable to eat the staple food by the end. As a result, when the banquet ended and he was on his way home, his stomach would be growling with hunger… Left with no choice, he had to rely on instant noodles to quell his appetite…

Fang Zheng couldn’t help but lament that this was his fate of poverty — not accustomed to rich food, he had to rely on the most basic sustenance to fill his stomach.

And now, he felt just like he did at those banquets, having eaten too many dishes, but still not having had the most important “staple food.”

That is to say, within the Fire Dragons of this world, there was still something Fang Zheng had not yet encountered.

Chief Dragon.

After such a long time in battle, Fang Zheng had noticed that the Fire Dragons fought in a very random manner, and despite being in groups, there were no leaders among them. Some humans he communicated with also confirmed that these Fire Dragons seemed to be gathering purely on instinct, without a Chief Dragon to lead them.

This was highly unusual. Many believed that there must be a Chief Dragon among these Fire Dragons because, without a coordinated leader, no matter how powerful and invincible the Fire Dragons were, they would never be able to annihilate humanity. Not only that, but Fang Zheng had received another piece of surprising news from these humans.

All these Fire Dragons were female!

Not a single male!

Was such a thing even possible?

To be honest, Fang Zheng had no idea how humans distinguished between male and female dragons, but on further thought, the thousands of Fire Dragons he had encountered all looked roughly the same. He wouldn’t find it strange if they were all males or all females. This raised a question, though. Fang Zheng had seen those female dragons laying eggs, so how were these female dragons laying them?

Could it be parthenogenesis?

But if there was only one male dragon…

Thinking about the overwhelming Dragon Horde he had encountered recently, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but silently make the sign of the cross in his heart.

Was its kidney still okay?

As the saying goes, an Emperor has three thousand beauties in his harem, but even that didn’t compare to this. He wondered if that male dragon was still alive… But then again, was this little fella he had brought along male or female?

But that wasn’t important.

“We’ve already entered United Kingdom territory, huh.”

Fang Zheng flew through the air, helplessly watching the ruins on the ground below. It was fortunate that Fire Dragons didn’t eat scraps of metal, so he could still manage to identify places from the road signs. The trouble with this darn place called the United Kingdom was the need to cross the Channel, and if he wasn’t careful, he might end up flying off to who knows where. Thus, Fang Zheng had expended a lot of energy before finally arriving at his destination. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

“Hm?”

At that moment, Fang Zheng suddenly caught a very familiar yet strange buzzing sound in his ears. Familiar because he had heard it many times in his own world, and strange because… this was the first time he had heard it in this world.

And it was a sound that should not have existed here.

It was the sound of an aircraft engine.

“Ya———! Ya———!”

The Little Fire Dragon seemed to have heard the sound as well and excitedly called out to the sky, then looked at Fang Zheng and fluttered its wings. Although it couldn’t speak yet, Fang Zheng understood that the little one was interested in the thing flying in the sky.

“Then, let’s go take a look.”
