Chapter 302: Chapter 301: You Fell Down As Soon As I Made a Move

Chapter 302: Chapter 301: You Fell Down As Soon As I Made a Move

“You’ve successfully infuriated me, damn little bug!”

The torrential rain howled down, and the figure of the Dragon Lich flickered in and out of visibility through the veil of rain.

“I’ll show you the true essence of death!!”

As the Dragon Lich’s words fell, Fang Zheng saw those tattered ghost ships suddenly shudder, and in the next instant, they burst apart. One after another, small Undead Bone Dragons crawled out from the wreckage, their appearance quite similar to that of the Chief Dragon Lich, only much smaller in stature.

Well, damn! All this time, those ghost ships were really made from “dragon bones.”

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng was at a loss for words. He had always been curious about the holes in those ghost ships, and now it looked like they were the transformed shapes of these Undead Bone Dragons folding their wings. He never imagined the Dragon Lich would be so creative — using his own disciples as ghost ships? That’s a feasible idea — oh, wait, his head is literally full of holes.

“You’re out of options now, vile vermin.”

Soaring above the skies, the Dragon Lich looked down at Fang Zheng standing atop the walls of the Chaos Fortress with a cold sneer. Around its body, hundreds of Undead Bone Dragons spread their wings, hovering below it. Fang Zheng had to admit that his situation looked grim. His Undead Army was pretty effective on the ground, but he didn’t have many units that could attack the air. More importantly — there were several hundred Bone Dragons on the enemy’s side!

Though they weren’t as large as Sindagosa, they were at least one-fifth her size, more than enough to deal with Fang Zheng’s undead troops. As for Fang Zheng himself? As a Dragon Lich stepping into the Legendary Domain, it could certainly sense that this young man was quite a distance away from reaching this level. Although his strength at his age was already extremely rare… but isn’t that what makes it interesting?

Thinking this, the Soulfire in the Dragon Lich’s eye sockets began to sway once again. A paladin on the verge of entering the Legendary Domain must be that woman’s cherished toy, so let me tarnish his soul, lead him into the realms of darkness and undeath. Given his talent, it might not be long, perhaps a few centuries, before another notorious Master of Lich emerges… At that time…

Ah, the anticipation is irresistible!

“Seize him!”

With this thought, the Dragon Lich no longer hesitated. It extended its claws and issued the command. Following its command, the surrounding Undead Bone Dragons roared and, spreading their wings, rushed towards Fang Zheng!

“Ah…”

Looking at the Undead Bone Dragons charging toward him, Fang Zheng sighed helplessly, forced to admit that the Dragon Lich indeed had a trick up its sleeve, and his own strategy had been somewhat lacking. The Chaos Fortress had some use against the Undead Army, but against these flying creatures… But now it was too late to switch over to High-Tier Heaven.

Moreover, even if he switched to High-Tier Heaven, Fang Zheng wasn’t sure he could really hold off the enemy. That Dragon Lich felt extremely dangerous to him, reminiscent of the time he and Great Knight Shi Dong had traveled to the White Bone Plains and encountered the Master of Lich below the quarry. But back then, Fang Zheng had no way to fight the enemy and had to choose to take a desperate chance.

“`

But now… hehe, there’s no Great Knight Shi Dong here, no Mart, and certainly no large crowd of Paladins spectating.

What’s more… he had changed from before.

With that thought, Fang Zheng slightly curled up the corners of his mouth, then he raised his right hand, and quickly, a pitch-black Soulstone appeared in Fang Zheng’s hand.

“Hm?”

Just as Fang Zheng took out the Soulstone, the Dragon Lich opposite suddenly felt its Soulfire tremble violently, and at the same time, the group of Undead Bone Dragons that were originally diving towards Fang Zheng also abruptly stopped in their tracks. Although they didn’t possess high intelligence, their beast-like instincts made these Bone Dragons sense the terrifying presence that was about to arrive!

What on earth was it!!

Logically speaking, the Undead should not feel fear, no, it’s not that they can’t fear, but rather there was nothing that could make them feel fear. This was even truer for a Lich, even if its body were destroyed, it didn’t mean death, on the contrary, its soul would return to its Soul Box and, after a long time, be reborn.

But now, it actually felt the threat of death?

A Dragon Lich, an Archmage who toyed with death and souls, who could bring such fear to it?

“Whoosh——!”

Suddenly, a chill wind blew through the air, the bone-chilling cold even made the Dragon Lich tremble involuntarily, but very quickly, it came to its senses with a shock.

What kind of power could make its soul feel cold?

The Dragon Lich, panic-stricken, looked up ahead, and then, it saw a scene that it would never forget for as long as it lived.

Upon the walls of the Chaos Fortress, boundless thin mist spread out, and then, a figure enveloped in a pitch-black robe quietly emerged from it, holding two scythes in its hands, without a single word, just quietly gliding forward. But anyone who saw that figure couldn’t help but inhale sharply — just as yellowing leaves signal the arrival of autumn, drifting snow signifies the onset of winter; its mere appearance meant the end of all things, a fate that not even deities could resist or escape from.

“Who, who is that? Why does it possess such pure Power of Death?!!”

The Dragon Lich stared wide-eyed in horror at the figure in the distance, even though it could release a mist filled with the power of death with just a thought, or cause a Great Flood by flapping its wings. But at this moment, it felt as if it were a prisoner on the execution platform, helpless except to watch as the sharp blade fell, ending its life.

“`

This is impossible! Why is there such a powerful entity, yet I have never heard of it? This is illogical!

“Eliminate them.”

Fang Zheng had no mood to explain anything to the Dragon Lich before him. After realizing that he couldn’t overcome it alone, he promptly and decisively released Malthael’s Soulstone again—and what he had to do next was only one thing.

And that was to end it all!

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s order, Malthael slightly tilted his head, then lifted it to look at the Undead Bone Dragons before him. Then, Malthael straightened up his body and, with the movement, six wings that resembled mist condensed behind the Angel of Death; he then suddenly fanned them forward!

“—————!!!”

The next moment, the endless Death Mist surged out from under Malthael’s feet like a tidal wave, rushing towards the hundreds of Undead Bone Dragons in front of him. Seeing the outburst of the Death Mist, those Undead Bone Dragons instantly turned around without hesitation, desperately flapping their wings, trying to escape from the engulfing mist. However, the speed of the Death Mist unleashed by Malthael was as fast as a flood pouring down. Just as the Undead Bone Dragons began to turn around, the surging mist covered them in the blink of an eye.

Soon, one could see in the midst of the mist the souls of the giant dragons being swept up and torn apart by the Death Mist like dust sucked out by a vacuum cleaner, then completely devoured. And without the support of the soulfire, the bodies of those Undead Bone Dragons immediately turned into piles of bones, scattering from the sky.

What kind of entity is this!

Seeing this scene, the Dragon Lich was finally shocked. It had spent hundreds of years creating these servants, all imprinted with its own soul, and for this reason, the Dragon Lich could acutely feel that after the mist devoured its Undead Bone Dragons, their souls were truly “dead”!

This is impossible! Damn it, why has such a powerful entity appeared!

At this moment, the Dragon Lich trembled all over, with no doubt in its mind that it couldn’t possibly be a match for that eerie figure. Therefore, it didn’t hesitate and flapped its wings hard, then the torrential rain suddenly intensified, forming a curtain around the Dragon Lich. Then it quickly turned to flee, but in the next instant, the Dragon Lich stopped in its tracks—not knowing when, the pitch-black figure had quietly appeared in front of it, blocking its path.

“Get out of the way!!”

The fear and rage in the depths of the Dragon Lich’s heart reached its limit at that moment. It roared, opening its mouth wide and fiercely spewing a dragon breath laced with the cold negative energy at the dark figure. The bone-chilling dark red dragon breath sprayed out from the mouth of the Dragon Lich, enveloping the dark figure in an instant.

The next moment, a flash of silver.

The roaring dragon breath, along with the Dragon Lich’s enormous head, was split in two by the scythe in Malthael’s hand. Then Malthael reached out with his right hand, the scythe stabbing into the Dragon Lich’s head, and with a fierce pull.

And with Malthael’s move, the huge Dragon Lich’s body suddenly shivered, and then its soul was forcibly dragged out of its body!

“No—————!!”

Realizing this, the Dragon Lich was even more terrified. Logically speaking, as a Dragon Lich, even if its body was destroyed, its soul should be able to immediately return to its Soul Box. But at this moment, the Dragon Lich was horrified to feel a terrifying, ice-cold Power of Death, like chains, tightly wrapping around its soul, rendering it completely unable to return to the Soul Box!

“No, spare me. I am willing to offer my soul to you, I am willing to become your most loyal servant, please, I beg of you, spare me!”

“Heh.”

Hearing the Dragon Lich’s plea, Fang Zheng sneered. Of course, he understood the Dragon Lich’s thoughts. The Lich tribe was almost undying and for them, waiting for hundreds of years wasn’t difficult, even to be a slave or a servant was acceptable. But Fang Zheng would never agree to such a tempting offer because he knew from the Sanctuary’s records that these Undead Creatures transformed by dark Necromancy were inherently evil beings. Fang Zheng certainly couldn’t allow such a thing to remain and harm his sister, even if the offer came with a vow of their soul… it would still be useless.

So, for the happiness and well-being of everyone, and for a moderately prosperous society, this unlucky Dragon Lich should just die.

“No—————!!”

Realizing that the other party had no intention of stopping, the Dragon Lich finally went mad. It began to struggle desperately, releasing one powerful Spell after another filled with the Power of Death, but these forceful attacks passed right through Malthael’s body, doing no harm to him. Instead, with a light lift from Malthael, he pulled the Dragon Lich’s soul out of its body as easily as picking up a chicken.

“You will pay for this! Myriad Deaths Society will not let you off… Ahhhhh!!”

The Dragon Lich glared at Fang Zheng with a furious roar, but its words were cut off by a violent scream; immediately after, the Dragon Lich’s soul was thoroughly absorbed into Malthael’s black robe, leaving no trace.

“Whew… Finally, it’s taken care of.”

Looking at the scene before him, Fang Zheng also sighed in relief, feeling a bit distressed—for the Goddess’s mission, he had to use the Soulstone again…

However… looking at the mission completion prompt before him, Fang Zheng nodded his head.

No matter what, what needed to be acquired had been obtained.
