Chapter 303: Chapter 302 Transcendent Power!

The situation was dire.

Wester’s face was somber as he watched the scene before him, his right hand clutching the longsword now beginning to tremble slightly. His once neat and tidy navy uniform was now ragged and torn. He had to admit, he had underestimated the young priestess of the Goddess before him.

Every Legendary Powerhouse possessed their Domain, and Wester was no exception. His Domain was “the sea,” which allowed him to freely manipulate the ocean water to engage in battle as long as he was above the sea’s surface. This was why Wester had been full of confidence in his mission. But now, to his surprise, he found that the girl before him seemed to have a power that was even higher-level than his!

The blazing, water-blue flames were not actual flames. Because Wester could clearly feel that when the Elemental Creatures he summoned were scorched by those flames, they were not actually being burnt to oblivion by the opponent’s fire. Instead, it felt more as if their existence was being “devoured.”

What power did this girl wield, exactly?

Truthfully, Wester no longer wanted to continue fighting Black Katie. Initially, he had thought of her as just a fledgling barely through her advancement, but as the battle wore on, he realized that the fighting awareness of this delicate-looking Shrine Maiden was on par with his own. Battles between Legendary Powerhouses weren’t always evenly matched. Each Legendary Powerhouse possessed their own Domain, which was determined by their Attribute Level.

Of course, since it’s a matter of Attribute, there would inevitably be a matter of mutual restraint. A phenomenon well acknowledged, even among Legendary Powerhouses. However, this also depended on the situation. If Wester were in a battle with a Legendary Powerhouse of the Fire Attribute, and the battlefield was set upon the sea, then he would certainly have the upper hand.

But conversely, if the battlefield were in a volcano or somewhere similar, even Wester would have to beat a hasty retreat.

Of course, that was the scenario when Attributes countered one another. Apart from that, if it was a battle with Legendary Powerhouses of the Wind or Earth Attributes, then it would be a matter of each relying on their own abilities, strength, combat awareness, and a little bit of luck to determine the victor.

Beyond that, another form of restraint was the higher-level Attributes dominating the lower-level ones. Wester’s Domain Attribute was “the sea,” but if he encountered a Legendary existence with the Attribute of “water,” he would have no choice but to kneel. After all, while the sea and water may appear similar, their powers are fundamentally different in reality.

Yet… up to this moment, Wester still hadn’t clarified what Black Katie’s “Attribute” exactly was.

Indeed, when he saw that Black Katie could manipulate the Power of the Stars, Wester became vigilant. The supreme power in the Main World was the Power of the Stars, and the power Black Katie wielded seemed to be of this caliber in Wester’s eyes, although initially, he didn’t take her too seriously. She seemed too harmless, and besides, her youth made Wester overlook her at first.

At first, Wester had thought he might defeat her, capture her, or if it came to it, kill her, since according to the analysis of those old men above, this girl was likely a secret trump card cultivated by the Sanctuary. As an old Empire, Fanriel had always had a strained relationship with the Kingdom of the Holy Church. Fanriel championed Free Will and viewed the Holy Church, which revered order, as a confining cage. The Holy Church, for its part, was particularly dissatisfied with Fanriel’s self-indulgent attitude of walking the line between Order and Chaos, believing they had forsaken the glory of the Order Race and had become nothing more than beasts indulging in their own desires.

And the citizens of the two countries also looked down on each other, with those from the Kingdom of the Holy Church considering the people of the Kingdom of Flame savage, vulgar, lacking in manners, overbearing, only focusing on their own petty gains without considering the bigger picture.

Conversely, the citizens of the Kingdom of Flame thought the people of the Kingdom of the Holy Church were brainwashed slaves, groveling and without Free Will, only submitting to authority.

In this respect, the current Main World was essentially divided into two camps—the Kingdom of the Holy Church and the Magitech Nation valued Order, while the Kingdom of Flame and the Land of Wealth leaned closer together. That made sense, as for the Kingdom of the Holy Church, Order was of paramount importance, and even money could not make them step back. Therefore, for a country like the Land of Wealth that was full of merchants and worshipped the almighty dollar, they were clearly not a suitable partner.

Conversely, the Magitech Nation prized Order and precision, steady magical research, and balance. They had a similar distaste for the freedom and casualness of the Kingdom of Flame, as well as the nouveau riche behavior of the Land of Wealth. In their eyes, knowledge was the most precious wealth, not those glittering Gold Coins.

Of course, the Dragon Race might have a different perspective, but those indolent species from beyond wouldn’t concern themselves with such minor disputes within the Main World.

It was precisely because of this complex situation that, although the Kingdom of Flame and the Kingdom of the Holy Church appeared to be stable on the surface, they were constantly engaged in overt conflict and covert struggles. For Fanriel, the ability to quietly dispose of a star of the future, whom the Sanctuary had spent a fortune to cultivate here, would certainly be quite cost-effective.

The problem was… as it stood, it seemed that the situation was very different from what he had anticipated.

“Boom!”

As Wester was hesitating, suddenly, he heard an explosion from a distance, and at that sound, he felt a surge of elation inside.

Had those guys succeeded?

Wester was now considering retreat. In his view, although he had been dispatched here with the intent of suppressing the Sanctuary, the girl opposite him had proven to be a tough nut to crack. Taking this as a sign to take what he could and pull out after completing the main mission seemed the sensible choice.

With that thought, Wester quickly glanced towards the direction of the sound, and when he saw the blazing, sinking warship, he was taken aback.

What was going on? Why had it turned out like this?

Wester could assure himself that there was no other powerful presence aboard the opposite ship, and a merchant vessel—how could it possibly destroy a warship?

What exactly had those bastards done?

Damn it!

Without a ship, how was he supposed to return?

Although Wester was a Legendary Powerhouse who possessed the sea domain, he was a warrior, not a mage! There was no way he could teleport thousands of kilometers away in a mere thought! Without his ship, was he expected to swim back?

“Stars above….”

And it was at this moment, suddenly, a crisp, low chant emerged by Wester’s ear.

Not good!

Upon hearing this sound, Wester’s body violently trembled as he remembered that he was still in the midst of battle, and his enemy was also a Legendary Powerhouse, no less formidable than himself!

Sure enough, when Wester turned around, dozens of starlight beams were whooshing toward him. There was no time left for Wester to dodge; he gritted his teeth and raised both hands. The next moment, bright, dazzling aqua blue radiance turned Wester’s body into a sieve. But immediately after, Wester’s punctured body transformed into a stream of water that fell into the sea, while he himself reappeared amidst the rolling waves not far away.

“You’ve succeeded in enraging me, little girl!!”

At this moment, Wester finally revealed immense rage. Beneath his feet, the sea began to roar, and the clouds in the sky started to swirl and tumble down. Then, Wester tightly gripped the crystal longsword in his hand, raising it high. As he did so, the roaring sea wind and lightning entwined and descended from the sky. At this moment, Wester seemed like a deity above the sea; here, he was omnipotent!

“Die!!”

With a roar, Wester forcefully slashed down with the crystal longsword in his hand!

Waves surged.

Hundred-meter-high giant waves roared out in front of the crystal longsword, directly aiming for Black Katie. At the same time, the tempest and lightning from the sky charged at that small figure. They were like the claws and teeth of a monster, roaring as they attempted to grasp the prey before them and thoroughly shred it to pieces.

And facing this scene, Black Katie’s expression remained unchanged.

“Is this the extent of it? Then… it’s over.”

Murmuring to herself, Black Katie raised the silver staff in her hand, gave it another shake, and then lightly tapped it downward.

“Tinkle.”

The triangle ring collided with each other, producing a crisp sound. This sound was nearly inaudible amidst the storm and thunder, but the power it contained was not to be underestimated.

At the very moment the sound rang out, the towering hundred-meter-high waves, as well as the frenzied storm and lightning, seemed to have been struck by some invisible behemoth as they were violently pushed back and quickly dissipated. At the same time, Wester felt a pain in his chest; he “puh” spat out a mouthful of blood and was suddenly blown backward like a cannonball, crashing heavily into the sea with a “bam”.

“How, how is this possible?”

Wester struggled to lift his head, his eyes wide with shock as he stared at the small figure suspended in the sky. His face was ashen, the corners of his mouth still smeared with blood, and even his hands were trembling slightly. But that was not what mattered; what mattered was that his crystal longsword now had several cracks in it!

That was the strongest weapon he had formed with the power of his domain, but what Wester never expected was that the opponent could simply, with a casual strike, shatter his domain? Not only that, but the unparalleled, unstoppable force Black Katie had displayed just now… was that…

“This is the power of the extraordinary! A power no mere mortal can possess! Could it be you…….”

Wester stared at the girl in horror, his body cold. How could it be possible? Without any major disaster in the Main World, why would a transcendent being make their appearance? It’s impossible!!

“Who are you———!!”

Facing Wester’s frantic shouts, Black Katie simply looked at him indifferently.

“Seat of Apex———Black Katie.”

Then, she raised the silver staff and pointed at Wester.

“No———!!”

Wester desperately lifted his hands, trying to say something, but before he could finish, an aqua blue light beam descended from the sky, enveloping him completely. The flames of existence began to burn, and within moments, Wester completely vanished into the vast ocean.

Without a trace.
