Chapter 333: Chapter 332 This is Truly an Unparalleled Bizarre Team

Early the next morning, only after recovering from Fang Zheng’s “Fast and Furious” experience, did the girls muster their spirit to continue their journey deeper into the Forest of Life.

Fang Zheng was somewhat displeased, although the Forest of Life was rarely inhabited and thus lacked any proper roads for vehicles, he believed that with the capabilities of the Wanderer-class, creating a new path inside would be no problem at all. As the saying goes, “there would be no path in the world if not treaded by many…”

However, Fang Zheng’s idea met with strong opposition from the others.

“This forest is the home of the elves; if we recklessly destroy it like this, we will anger the elves!”

This was Hailien’s argument.

“Mr. Fang Zheng, please abandon this dangerous idea, or you will lose the Goddess’s blessing!”

This came from an earnestly persuading Fina.

“I, I think… it’s also joyful to hike in nature…”

This was a request from Katie, who barely regained consciousness after being out the whole night.

“Ah… what a pity…”

Only the Astrologer girl looked on with a face full of emotion and disappointment, making Fang Zheng feel he was not alone.

Unfortunately, the minority had to comply with the majority. This time, even Nymph and the Little Fire Dragon did not side with Fang Zheng, and when Fang Zheng tried to approach the Wanderer, the Little Fire Dragon even desperately bit his clothes and pulled him back…

With things having come to this point, Fang Zheng knew it was impossible to insist, so he reluctantly followed them.

As the core region of the Order realms, the Forest of Life naturally wouldn’t experience situations where Demon Beasts crawled all over the place and where a boss led a siege battle. But this didn’t mean that peace reigned supreme. Chaos and Order might be mortal enemies, yet the internal affairs of Order were not solidly united, and not all evil creatures were minions of Chaos. Some of Order’s own kin, such as… Katie, who was in charge of roaming and scouting ahead, brought news to everyone.

“Two hundred meters ahead, there are twenty Goblins!”

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

“Twenty Goblins?”

Upon hearing Katie’s report, Fina and the others all showed subtle changes in their expressions, then turned to look at Fang Zheng and Nymph with anxiety.

“Mr. Fang Zheng…”

“Go ahead, I’ll cover you,” Fang Zheng replied.

If Fang Zheng took action, not only twenty but even two hundred Goblins would be instantly slain. However, he was well aware that he was only there to assist this time, and the real “exam candidates” were Fina and the others. Therefore, Fang Zheng certainly wouldn’t outshine them and steal their limelight. This was also part of the assessment’s regulations. According to the Order Alliance’s examination standards, those who participated were set to rise to the rank of Professional, and “external candidates” like Fang Zheng, whose strength was far greater, would have given a skewed sense of achievement had there not been restrictions; it’d be like a max-leveled boss carrying newbies through an instance, winning with no effort.

“Yah yah yah!!”

Just then, the Little Fire Dragon perched on Fang Zheng’s shoulder also lifted its head and started to squawk towards the direction of the sound. Meanwhile, the girls held their breath with vigilance and watched ahead, then slowly moved forward. Fang Zheng naturally took Nymph to cover the rear while keenly observing the girls in front of him.

Clearly, the girls had discussed before Fang Zheng joined on what to do in case they encountered a battle, thus they quickly got into combat readiness.

But… in Fang Zheng’s eyes, this team was a bit odd, to say the least.

First up was Hailien, who in Fang Zheng’s eyes, should have been the main tank of the team considering her heavy armor and the giant sword on her back. To his surprise, she actually dashed to the back of the team carrying that sword, while Fina stowed her scepter, rummaged through her Spatial Bag, and then took out a shield and Meteor Hammer to lead the way…

As for the Astrologer girl… Fang Zheng saw her looking down at her Star Chart and then quietly began to chant Spell Texts.

“Oh, Archer shining in the Cosmos, lend me your power so that my arrows may vanquish all evil!”

With the Spell Texts being chanted, the next moment saw little bits of starlight emerging around the hands of the Astrologer girl, and then an apparition of a cloak-clad, bow-wielding shadow materialized out of thin air, merging into the Astrologer girl as if possessed by her. Soon after, the Astrologer girl raised her right hand, and a Longbow made of condensed starlight appeared in her hands.

………

Fang Zheng had to admit that he was completely baffled. The heavy-hitting, sword-wielding output dealer had shifted to the back, while the support-healing Cleric had taken up the shield and Meteor Hammer to play the role of MT, and the Astrologer girl, who clearly seemed like a caster type, was suddenly moonlighting as an archer…

It seemed that only Lady Katie was somewhat sticking to her job description.

“Wa-ya-ya-ya!!”

At that moment, the bushes in front of them rustled and the next thing they saw were several creatures, green all over and only half as tall as an adult, resembling bald monkeys without full Evolution, leaping out of the forest with spears and wooden shields in their grasp.

These were the Goblins, the widely cherished creatures adventurers love to hunt for leveling up.

“Sacred Armor! Gift of Courage!!”

Fina was quick to react. As the Goblins sprang out, she shouted, and beams of Holy Light descended from the sky, falling onto the girls and forming semi-transparent Radiance armors. Almost immediately after, the Astrologer girl, standing not far behind Fina, swiftly raised her Longbow, nocked an arrow, and in a fluid motion, just like a veteran archer, released an arrow that shot through the head of the leading suicidal Goblin.

“Waaah!!”

However, the death of their comrade didn’t stop the other Goblins in their tracks. On the contrary, the scent of blood in the air only further stirred their savage nature. Before the body of the leading Goblin hit the ground, the other creatures had already swarmed forward, lunging at their prey.

That’s when Hailien made her move. Fang Zheng watched as she pulled the giant sword from her back and thrust it firmly into the ground. Then, with her eyes closed, Hailien clasped the hilt with both hands.

“Heh… Aaaahhhhhhh!!!”

Accompanying Hailien’s roar, a burst of pure, crimson flames erupted from the giant sword, and immediately Fang Zheng saw the swirling, dancing flames coalesce and transform into a huge Fire Dragon, roaring as it charged at its enemies.

Facing the sudden appearance of the Fire Dragon, the Goblins were clearly befuddled. As a being entirely composed of elements, the Fire Dragon naturally did not fear the spears and swords in the Goblins’ hands. Every swing of their weapons seemed to slice through the air as it passed through the Fire Dragon’s body, but in return, whenever the Fire Dragon swiped its paw, it immediately enveloped a Goblin in flames, reducing it to Ash.

In contrast to the Fire Dragon’s savage combat, Fina’s fighting was methodical and routine, quite stylized. Perhaps because she had Fang Zheng in front as the dedicated vanguard previously, the Cleric had stuck to her primary duties. But now she finally showed off her melee capabilities, swinging her Meteor Hammer with the aid of “Brute Strength,” crushing any unfortunate, slow-moving Goblins’ heads. Even if the Goblins were lucky enough to block Fina’s attack, they were immediately flipped backward and ended up being slapped into Ash by the Fire Dragon.

As for the ever-elusive Lady Katie, her way of fighting also took Fang Zheng by surprise.

Generally, a Wanderer-class like hers would either go for backstabbing and sneaking or set traps, or shoot from a distance. However, this Young Lady’s method was remarkably unusual—she was actually casting Magic from the sidelines!

That’s right, a Wanderer was using her uncanny Stealth to cast a variety of Magic Artifacts as if they cost nothing.

Watching this chaotic battlefield and the Goblins being miserably defeated, Fang Zheng sighed helplessly.

With a team as peculiar as this, it seemed beyond redemption.
