Chapter 309: Chapter 308: What is the Correct Way to Use This Ghostly Thing?

The following time was remarkably leisurely.

Everyone in the café named “Rabbit Home” thoroughly enjoyed the delicious coffee and sweets. Even Nanali and Kuliya, who were tasting coffee for the first time, couldn’t stop praising it. Nanali even wanted to ask Satono for the “recipe” for the coffee and hoped to come back in the evening to enjoy it again. However, Satono bashfully mentioned that the café only operated until six o’clock and turned into a bar in the evening, which left both Nanali and Fang Zheng somewhat disappointed. As night owls, they would have relished the chance to savor such delicious coffee while staying up late; but now, they couldn’t have coffee at night… If there was no delicious coffee, staying up late would lose its charm.

Fortunately, just as Fang Zheng had thought, the money they carried automatically “converted” into equivalent currency in this world, which spared them the worry of dining and dashing.

Afterward, the group visited another restaurant Fang Zheng exchanged for nearby. Unlike the elegant style of “Rabbit Home,” this restaurant’s décor was very rough and filled with a primitive flavor. Most surprisingly, the chefs here were not human but a group of cats half the height of a human!

Honestly, when they first saw these cats, everyone was quite shocked. But they quickly adapted, even Nanali and Kuliya adjusted faster than they had to the coffee. After all, in the Main World, a world where magic thrived, many mages used cats as their Familiar Spirits. For Tilia and Black Katie, as the Kings of the Crimson Realm, they could create such creatures like Phosphorus if they wished. As for Nymph… she had been looking after a kitten lately, naturally feeling a closeness to any feline, so she didn’t mind much either.

Of course, what really amazed them was the culinary skills of these cats and the frighteningly large chunks of meat that seemed to come from nowhere. More importantly, even though the menu stated the meals were individual portions, and they indeed tasted delicious enough to make one want to swallow their tongue, there was one serious problem—the portions were huge!

One person’s meal included a serving of fried rice bigger than a human head, along with pineapple and three large skewers of steaming kebabs, and a bowl of delicious seafood soup, plus a tasty grilled steak… Finishing all of that might just burst a person!

Fortunately, the young ladies Fang Zheng brought with him were not ordinary people. Tilia, Black Katie, and Nymph almost nonchalantly finished their meals, and Fang Zheng’s body, modified by the Zerg, certainly didn’t refuse additional nutrients. Only Kuliya and Nanali were unlucky. The two of them together tackled one meal and struggled mightily to finish it…

Though somewhat concerned about their weight, after enjoying a rich and delicious dinner, and admiring the quiet and beautiful prairie as well as the night sky and full moon, the young ladies happily went back to rest. Of course, if there was anything to complain about…

“It would be nicer if there were some small animals around.”

The always dreamy Nanali made a small request to Fang Zheng, to which he nodded in agreement. The scenery here was indeed beautiful, but it lacked signs of life. Whether humans or other animals, having some small animals would definitely bring more vitality to the place.

Unfortunately, at the moment, the exchange function in Fang Zheng’s personal space hadn’t opened this option yet, so they just had to patiently wait.

After enjoying the night scenery for a while longer, the young ladies all went back to their rooms to sleep. They had been quite busy throughout the day and were also responsible for tidying up their rooms, already utterly exhausted. It was time to rest early, and Fang Zheng also returned to his room. However, he didn’t immediately go to bed to sleep; instead, Fang Zheng sat in the study chair, carefully examining the item in his hand, and let out a long sigh.

“How on earth do I use this thing?”

Indeed, what Fang Zheng was holding was the “Eye of All Phenomena” he had obtained from Soul Bay, but after acquiring it, he realized a problem.

He didn’t know how to use it.

Fang Zheng had thought it would work like a Noble Phantasm, activated simply by infusing power, but… it didn’t.

He had studied it for several days, but so far, Fang Zheng still couldn’t find any clues.

Let’s try again, maybe there’s some secret activation password?

Fang Zheng was starting to regret killing the Dragon Lich so swiftly; perhaps he should have learned how to activate it from him before killing him?

Then again, whether that innately evil creature would have told the truth was also a question.

So now, he could only rely on himself.

With that thought, Fang Zheng took a deep breath, stood up, and raised the Eye of All Phenomena high.

“Grant me power… I! AM! HE-MAN!”

……………

“Okay, it seems that’s not the password, let’s try another one.”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders and then raised his hand again.

“Come out, Red Hawk———!!”

…………

“Still not right? Then I’ll have to use my trump card!”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng stared resolutely at the Eye of All Phenomena in his hand, and as if making up his mind, clenched his teeth, closed his eyes, and raised the orb again.

“Moon Prism, power, transform!”

…………

“Still not it? That’s strange, isn’t this how it’s supposed to be used?”

Fang Zheng scratched his head and began fiddling with the orb in his hand.

“I’ll form the head!”

“Human Cannon, Level One ready!”

“Six Gods Unite!”

……….

“It’s all useless.”

Fang Zheng once again sat down in his chair, helplessly sighed and fiddled with the Eye of All Phenomena in his hands.

“It seems the foreign methods won’t work, let’s try the methods of our ancestors then.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng reached out and cut a slit on his finger, then pressed it against the top of the scepter.

“Come on, the blood recognition!”

This was a tried and true method in numerous games, movies, and novels; if even this didn’t work, Fang Zheng truly would be out of options.

Luckily, the wisdom of his ancestors over thousands of years still proved useful.

“Ding.”

As Fang Zheng’s finger touched the scepter, the system prompt sound rang out again, and what appeared before Fang Zheng was the quest prompt he was all too familiar with.

[Hidden Quest Activated: Bloodline Absorption]

[You have sensed the knowledge and power contained within that ancient bloodline, but your current body is not yet qualified to attain this hidden treasure. Enhance your power, unlock the hidden bloodline, and obtain the true hidden treasure (“Gene Absorption” must be upgraded to B rank or higher to activate the Eye of All Phenomena. PS: Please complete the quest in an open area.)]

So that’s how it is.

Looking at the quest prompt, Fang Zheng finally understood; after all this fuss, was his power not sufficient? But that’s not right; according to the quest prompt, it seems that his body isn’t yet qualified to activate the “Eye of All Phenomena.” Wouldn’t it be the “Perfect Body” that he needed to enhance, then? Why would it be “Gene Absorption”?

And what’s with that PS at the end?

What do I do now?

Looking at the prompt, Fang Zheng felt hesitant. If it were about the “Perfect Body,” then Fang Zheng could only put it aside for now, as his “Perfect Body” was only at D rank. According to the upgrade rules, it needed to be at least B rank to drive the Eye of All Phenomena, meaning Fang Zheng would have to spend 5500 Dimensional Points. Currently, Fang Zheng had less than two thousand Dimensional Points, far from enough to enhance the “Perfect Body.”

But if it were about “Gene Absorption,” that would be different, as this ability inherited from the Zerg didn’t have high requirements for enhancement. Upgrading to B rank only needed 1100 points, which was within what Fang Zheng could afford.

But… something about this quest prompt still felt off.

Although still somewhat perplexed by the quest prompt, Fang Zheng still followed the instructions and left his study, heading towards the distant grasslands. This was the house he had just exchanged with Furniture Coins. If something went wrong, it would be rather frustrating.

“Alright, let’s begin.”

Glancing at the moon in the sky, Fang Zheng took a deep breath and then opened the Dimensional Codex.

“Upgrade ‘Gene Absorption’.”

As Fang Zheng’s fingers slid across, soon enough, another line of information emerged.

[Gene Absorption upgrade to B rank will cost 1100 Dimensional Points, do you confirm?]

“Confirm.”

No sooner had Fang Zheng spoken than he felt a searing heat surge through his body, as if all the blood and cells throughout his body began to congeal and transform, flowing rapidly while his heart simultaneously began to beat quickly. As his body temperature rose, Fang Zheng even felt his vision blur; the power inside his body seemed about to break through some critical point.

And just at that moment, suddenly, another line of information appeared.

[Gene Absorption upgraded to B rank]

[Detecting racial bloodline essence, starting absorption]

Wait, what does this mean?

Bewildered and dizzy, Fang Zheng was taken aback by this prompt, but in the next moment, he suddenly felt an intense and painful burning sensation coming from his right hand holding the Eye of All Phenomena.

Suddenly, everything before Fang Zheng plunged into darkness.
