Chapter 334: Chapter 333: The Gradually Chaotic Forest (I)

The warrior in armor casting spells from the back,

The cleric swinging a meteor hammer in the front lines.

The astrologer with a longbow providing support,

And the thieves hidden, incessantly throwing magic artifacts.

Although this combination is bizarre enough to critique from every angle, one has to admit their strength is indeed formidable. It took them only about ten minutes to dispatch more than twenty goblins, although… the aftermath was rather severe.

“Still haven’t recovered?”

Looking at the pale-faced astrologer girl sprawled on a rock, Fang Zheng helplessly shrugged his shoulders. After the battle ended, Fina had removed the enhancement from “Aura of Courage,” and after that, both the astrologer girl and Katie turned pale at the sight of the bloody corpses, before running to the riverside to start vomiting intensely.

It was quite normal, after all, both of them were true young ladies raised in luxury, probably having never killed a chicken in their lives.

By comparison…

With this thought, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but glance at Fina, who was humming a tune while squatting by the river, cleaning her weapon. The young cleric still looked gentle and poised, no different from when he first met her.

Of course, if you overlooked the meteor hammer in her hands that she was washing the blood off of.

“I, I usually focus on supporting from the back!”

Noticing Fang Zheng’s gaze, Fina’s face reddened slightly as she stuttered a defense.

“But… well… you see, even the Goddess, as recorded in the scriptures, wields a blade to slaughter the evil dragon, so…”

“I was just curious.”

To be honest, Fang Zheng was initially surprised to see Fina so adept at close combat. But on second thought, he came to accept it. After all, Fina was a pilgrimage priest, and more importantly, a beautiful girl. Had she not some ability to defend herself, she’d have likely fallen prey to bandits or brigands long ago.

Nevertheless, seeing Miss Cleric swing her meteor hammer and smash those goblin heads to bits was something Fang Zheng still found hard to get used to…

“Speaking of which… what’s the situation over there?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng turned his gaze towards Hailien. The female warrior who had been illustrious in battle was now sprawled on the ground, fast asleep, looking as though she hadn’t had a wink of sleep in days.

“That’s a Wild Hunt sorcerer?”

“That is a Wild Hunt sorcerer,” replied Katie, who seemed to have recovered by now, her voice no longer as weak as before.

“In the Fanriel Kingdom, some are born with Dragon Blood in their veins. It is rumored that they are born with horns on their heads, which their parents cut off when these children reach a certain age and merge into their weapons. With that, the Dragon Blood inheritors can possess a weapon bonded to their bloodline for battle… but it seems this way of fighting imposes a tremendous mental strain…”

“I get all that… but why a sword?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes in resignation.

“Her combat style must involve condensing spiritual power into the Fire Element for possession and manipulation in her attacks, right? In that case, wouldn’t it be better to make it into a magic wand or something?”

“They say that Wild Hunt sorcerers are wholly focused in combat, their bodies unresponsive to external attacks. Moreover, if the weapon bonded to their bloodline is destroyed, they themselves suffer severe damage. So…”

“I see.”

With Katie’s explanation, Fang Zheng came to understand why, although she was a spellcaster, she appeared dressed like a warrior. Different from magicians with a variety of spells, these Wild Hunt sorcerers seemed to truly specialize in one element. Moreover, during their attacks, their consciousness attaches to the elemental form, neglecting defense of their corporeal bodies. Additionally, because the destruction of their bonded weapon could also cause them harm, the weapon used as a vessel must be as durable as possible.

He hadn’t expected such tactics.

With these thoughts, Fang Zheng stood up and stretched, then glanced around.

“All right, now that we’ve had a good rest, let’s move on.”

“Mr., Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng speak, the Astrologer also stood up, hesitated for a moment, and then still asked in a low voice.

“How shall we deal with the bodies of those Goblins…?”

“Just leave them here, there are plenty of scavengers in the forest that will take care of them. But… before that, there’s something I need to investigate.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng once again approached the Goblin corpses, crouched down, picked up a scimitar, and examined it closely.

“Is there a problem, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

“There’s something not right about this knife.”

“Not right?”

Hearing Fang Zheng speak, the other girls also came over, curious, regardless of the gruesome state of the Goblin corpses they had previously encountered.

“What’s the problem with this knife…?”

“Although races like Goblins and Goblins like to use spoils of war in battle, don’t you think this knife looks a bit too new?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng lifted the knife to observe it carefully against the sunlight.

“It’s been oiled, which doesn’t seem like something those creatures with the intelligence that can’t even add one plus one would do. And then there are the patterns on it…”

Fang Zheng reached out, wiped off the fresh blood and mud that had stained the blade, and immediately, a silver and dazzling pattern appeared before everyone’s eyes.

“If the Goblins had this kind of ability, they could have become artists directly, right?”

“This seems to be an Elf pattern!”

Observing the pattern on the blade, Fina suddenly exclaimed, her eyes widening in amazement, staring incredulously at the scimitar before her.

“How is this possible? Could it be that an Elf was defeated by Goblins? This… this is inconceivable!”

Fina’s astonishment was understandable, after all, the forest was Elf territory, and the Elves living in the forest not only had the magical archery to shoot through a hundred paces as if through layers of yarn, but they could also communicate with nature and animals and cast some unique Elf spells. While the Elves were not absolutely invincible in the forest, they were certainly not creatures that Goblins could defeat.

“In any case, we will know after an investigation, Nymph.”

“Yes, master.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Nymph, still holding the Little Fire Dragon, hurried over to his side.

“Search the surroundings and see if there are any clues.”

“Yes!”

As she spoke, Nymph reached out to touch her ear, and soon, layers of auras emerged in her eyes. After a moment of silence, Nymph suddenly raised her head.

“Found them, 500 meters to the northeast, there is a significant Goblin life signal response and several unknown lifeform signal feedbacks! The life signs are very weak!”

“Northeast direction?”

Hearing Nymph’s response, Fang Zheng raised his head to look in the direction of the Frozen Summit Range.

“Since it’s a rescue, there’s no need to worry about these troubles anymore… You rest here. After you have rested, come find me with Nymph. I’ll deal with these annoying creatures.”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than everyone saw the scenery blur before them, and with the flash of a Magic Aura, Fang Zheng just vanished into thin air, nowhere to be seen.
