Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 319: Chapter 316: Consciousness Hypothesis

After dinner.

Returned to the room.

Baimu began trying to make Zweilous understand the fact that it had grown two heads, and he also began to confirm whether this creature was truly ”two” Deino or ”one” Deino.

The reason is simple.

The movements of the two heads were extraordinarily synchronized.

From bowing down, chewing, swallowing, to making coquettish sounds, even burping happened simultaneously, making it hard not to draw certain associations.

Even if the new head was derived from splitting the old head in two, when becoming the same individual, it may not necessarily perform the same actions.

Unless a single consciousness provides identical instructions to different parts of the body simultaneously.

Based on the information Baimu obtained from Wu, no one really dwelled on this issue; whether it’s one head or two heads, Zweilous remains Zweilous, and its essence doesn’t change.

As long as it poses no harm to itself, most residents of Dragon Land don’t delve into overly profound matters.

The reason for mentioning most.

Because Wu introduced a scholar from Dragon Land to him, who didn’t become a Trainer but got into Yuhong University to research Pokémon ecology.

The two chatted extensively on the topic of Zweilous.

Among them.

Proudly included researchers in the Pokémon academic community studying multi-headed symbiotic Pokémon.

However, they often hold multiple opinions and argue with each other.

Some researchers believe that when Deino evolves, it causes it to switch from one self-awareness to two self-awarenesses, but they inherit the same memory at the time of division, so many styles will converge, yet essentially belong to different individuals.

He used Dugtrio, also evolving from one to many, as an example.

The second scholar used the death of one head of Zweilous, where the other head couldn’t continue to survive, countering by citing that Dugtrio doesn’t possess this characteristic. If it’s two consciousnesses, then why can’t it continue living after one head dies?

Moreover, a consensus is that different Pokémon are vastly different, so it shouldn’t be applied across the board.

The third scholar argued that it might be because a single head can’t withstand the body’s burden, and it’s a medical issue, opposing the second scholar’s viewpoint.

The fourth scholar believed that after Zweilous evolves again, although it has three heads, only the middle head has a brain, hence there’s only one consciousness, suggesting that the number of brains determines the number of consciousnesses.

The fifth scholar refuted using Exeggcute, stating that although it’s composed of six, if one scatters, it will naturally nurture a new sixth one, possessing previous memories and habits. The lost one will wither.

Thus, the brain doesn’t determine consciousness quantity.

The sixth scholar suggested Ditto transforming into Zweilous still remains a single consciousness, without mental division, supporting the standalone consciousness of Zweilous.

In the field of multi-headed Pokémon’s consciousness and body...

No conclusion has been reached to date.

Whether they possess the same consciousness, merely developing different personalities due to multiple heads processing issues, analogous to split personality; or belonging to different consciousnesses but trapped in one body, remains a mystery.

Even the people of the Pokémon World can’t unravel the domain pertaining to the mind.

The Dragon People scholar told Baimu.

If not interested in the debate of body versus consciousness, and only curious about how to deal with the Zweilous having two heads, then simply observing patiently will suffice.

The one truly making the decision is Zweilous itself.

If it perceives the other head as unrelated to ”itself,” then even if movements initially converge, differences will emerge later, like constructing another personality to influence the other brain.

If it realizes both brains are ”itself,” then there’s less likelihood of conflict between new and old personalities.

It will naturally perform different actions like humans controlling left and right hands, without any disputes.

——

A giant floor mirror.

Zweilous looked at its own reflection, then glanced at Baimu holding the phone beside it, the screen showing what the Trainer told it looked like originally.

”Hey woo!” ”Hey woo!”

No wonder it felt so strange, turns out it had another head!

Zweilous suddenly understood, then turned and locked eyes with the adjacent head, inexplicably feeling as if it was looking at itself, remarkably akin to looking into a mirror.

How strange!

Zweilous couldn’t help opening its mouths to bite forward, but when both mouths opened simultaneously to bite, it found it hard to bite down at the same time, as the teeth would always collide. Fortunately, the neck was long enough, finally resulting in a rather twisted posture of mutual hair gnawing.

Hmm, it’s definitely its own taste!

It often chomps on its own fur or paws when idle, precisely aware of its own flavor.

”Hey woo!” ”Hey woo!”

So that’s how it is!

Zweilous lifted its right paw, then its left paw, easily integrating the current situation—

Since it has two front paws, two back paws, two little wings, and two black stripes on its belly, and particularly sharp toes.

Then having two heads, what’s so strange about that? Even the little tuffs on its forehead are in pairs!

It’s meant to be that way!

Zweilous understood, happily ran to the Trainer’s side, biting his left hand and right hand. It thought these two heads were meant to bite down on all Trainer’s hands.

When it first realized there were two hands to bite, it felt quite regretful.

Now, it’s fulfilled!

”Hey woo...” ”Hey woo...”

Zweilous let out a satisfied call.

Baimu watched this tank-like creature, wondering where exactly it had thought to... or hadn’t thought at all?

Nevermind.

As long as he didn’t differentiate, learning to keep balance between the two is definitely right.

Moreover, the period from Zweilous to Hydreigon probably won’t be particularly long, as the transition from Level 50 to Level 60 for Mawile didn’t take long either.

”Okay, okay, you can let go now.”

He pulled both hands away, avoiding one head getting agitated for not having a hand to hold, then flipped onto Zweilous’s back, placing his head between its two heads and taking out his phone Illustrated Guide.

[Pokémon: Zweilous]

[Attributes: Evil + Dragon]

[Gender: Male]

[Height: 164cm / 61kg]

[Trait: Vitality]

[Level: Level 50]

[Moves: Attack / Dragon’s Fury / Bite / Headbutt]

[Dragon Breath / Double Strike / Evil Fluctuation / Power of the Earth]

[Flame Fang / Thunder Fang / Frozen Fang / Scary Face]

[Dragon’s Pulse / Dragon Dive / Giant Sound / Shattering Bite]

The last two are new skills brought by evolution, one is a normal attribute area attack move, the other is an evil attribute contact move...

Whether they’re good or not is another matter, but they definitely have occasions to be used.
