Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

“Thank you, handsome. You’re really our hero!” A young wife of about thirty looked at Xiao Yi with gratitude.

“Great hero! Thank you!” A young woman stared at Xiao Yi, her face burning. Her eyes were full of the light of admiration.

“Great hero! Long live our great hero!” The rest of the women joined the cheer as well.

Escaping death had made them feel how precious life was.

Although the way Xiao Yi killed people was a little frightening, it did not affect their worship and respect for him in the slightest!

The way Xiao Yi had dropped from the sky like a war god just now and driven the zombies back was already carved deep into these people’s hearts.

Especially those two twin sisters. They already worshipped Xiao Yi past the point of holding it.

For young women their age, Xiao Yi was an idol who existed like a god.

“Big brother! You must be a great hero God sent to save us!” That little girl of only seven or eight blinked her simple big eyes, wiped the tear tracks from her face, looked up at Xiao Yi, and said it, her face full of worship. “Big brother, can you protect us?”

“This handsome young man has to be a great hero Heaven sent to save the world! As long as we follow him, we can definitely live well!” A middle-aged young wife said it, excited and certain. “Hero! We’re willing to follow you!”

“Yes! Big brother has to be a great hero Heaven sent to save humanity! We’re all going with big brother!” A young woman shouted, excited.

Everyone looked at Xiao Yi full of worship. Hope and heat shone in their eyes.

Si Ruoqing looked at the scene in front of her with complicated eyes. In the end she still let out a breath, walked up to Xiao Yi with a measure of release, and said, grateful, “Thank you! Thank you for saving everyone! And thank you for helping us wipe out this pack of bad men!”

Xiao Yi smiled faintly and nodded to the crowd. For people who still had some spine and some conscience, Xiao Yi did not feel dislike.

At least in his eyes, these people were worth helping and saving.

But his rules still would not break for anyone.

“I’m sorry. Everyone may have gotten it wrong. I am not the great hero you imagine. I am not some good man either. I am not noble at all.” Xiao Yi opened his mouth and cut through the cheering. “I am even less of a savior.”

“I am only a passerby who happened to come through here. I have not thought about saving all of humanity. I have not thought about helping anyone unconditionally either.”

When Xiao Yi finished speaking, everyone stared at him, dumbfounded. Their eyes were full of pleading.

Those two twin sisters even shed tears and started crying quietly.

“Big brother, you won’t protect us? We’ll be very good. We’ll listen very well!” The little girl blinked tearful big eyes and looked at Xiao Yi, pleading.

“Big brother, please stay! We’ll listen to whatever you say. I’m willing to be your woman!” A young wife with some looks stepped up, caught Xiao Yi, and begged.

Si Ruoqing watched Xiao Yi, tense. There was actually a thread of pleading in her eyes as well. She wanted to say something, but she did not know how to say it.

Yes.

Xiao Yi had no obligation to save anyone here.

He not only owed none of them anything. He had even saved their lives.

They were the ones who owed Xiao Yi.

And they could give him nothing.

He had no need at all to risk himself saving this many burdens.

She could understand Xiao Yi.

She did not blame Xiao Yi.

But she still hoped Xiao Yi would save these pitiful people.

“I have a shelter of my own. I can find a way to get you to our shelter. I will give you food and water, help you survive, and protect your safety.” Xiao Yi went on, calm as before.

“But you have to follow my rules. In my shelter, what I say is the law. What I say is the rule! Anyone who dares resist me, anyone who does not listen to what I say, will receive the harshest punishment! You may even end up wishing you were dead.”

“Everyone who enters my shelter is my private property. You will all be my slaves. Whatever I want to do to you, you cannot resist in the slightest.”

Xiao Yi looked hard at Si Ruoqing. “I want all of your loyalty, mind and body. It is not only that your hearts obey me. Your bodies have to obey as well.”

Everyone present understood what Xiao Yi’s sentence meant. Even those two twin sisters knew.

“Those are the rules if you want to enter my shelter. Rules no one can break. I have never forced anyone, though. The power to choose is in your own hands. You can choose to come back with me. You can also choose to stay here. I will absolutely not force you to do anything.”

“Even if you choose to stay, if you run into trouble later, I will still help you some, as appropriate.”

When Xiao Yi finished, he smiled faintly at the crowd, as if everything he had said were the most natural thing in the world.

Si Ruoqing lowered her flushed face and bit her lip hard.
