Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

Although Xiao Yi was some distance away, his enhanced hearing allowed him to catch the women’s entire conversation. Hearing Tang Ningning make such a solemn vow left him completely speechless.

The strange changes in Li Wanning and Shen Tingting surprised him as well.

Shen Tingting might have been partly joking, but Li Wanning had genuinely become completely enslaved.

She regarded serving and pleasing Xiao Yi as an honor—and seemed to believe it from the bottom of her heart.

The change gave Xiao Yi a deeper understanding of human nature.

Perhaps a part of every person secretly longed to be enslaved.

Xiao Yi stopped listening to their conversation and emptied the zombie corpses he had collected from his Spatial Pouch.

He had not brought back many this time. He had not even bothered collecting the zombies that appeared especially weak.

Even so, the ground was densely covered in corpses.

There were still far too many bodies. It seemed he needed to construct several more Tombs!

“System, display my attributes!”

【City of Sin (Beginner)】

【City Lord: Xiao Yi】

【Sex: Male】

【Constitution: 80】

【Spirit: 66】

【Strength: 80】

【Stamina: 80】

【Agility: 80】

【Average adult male attribute: 60】

【Skills: None】

【Items: Blade of Sin (Beginner), Spatial Pouch (Beginner)】

【Apocalypse Coins: 469】

His Spirit had increased by another point, but all his other attributes remained unchanged.

It seemed his deduction had been correct. An attribute score of 80 was the limit of what ordinary zombie corpses could provide.

Xiao Yi glanced at his Apocalypse Coins. After accumulating them for so long, he now possessed 479.

Constructing one Tomb cost only 20 Apocalypse Coins, so he had more than enough. Xiao Yi decided to build several at once. The empty ground inside the City of Sin was serving no purpose anyway. Ordinary corpses might no longer grant attribute points, but they could still produce Apocalypse Coins, and upgrading the city would inevitably require enormous quantities of them.

Xiao Yi understood the importance of preparing for future needs.

“System, can I construct more Tombs?”

【Affirmative. Construction Requirements—City Area: 5 square meters; Apocalypse Coins: 20; Construction Time: 3 hours. Would you like to construct another Tomb?】

【Build Now】【Build Later】

“Build it now!”

Xiao Yi repeated the same process several times and constructed three Tombs in succession.

Five Tombs were the maximum that the Beginner City of Sin could currently support.

All the zombies he possessed were still the lowest rank. Upgrading the Tombs would provide little benefit when processing such weak corpses, so Xiao Yi had not upgraded the previous two.

Once everything was arranged, Xiao Yi began to feel tired. While protecting Tang Ningning on the journey back to the City of Sin, a zombie had bitten his arm. He needed to rest inside the cabin.

After recovering, his next objective would be the gymnasium, where he would hunt more powerful mutated zombies!

Xiao Yi entered the Rest Cabin and lay down on the cozy bed Li Wanning and Shen Tingting had prepared. He soon fell asleep.

The sun descended toward the horizon. As time passed, Xiao Yi’s wound slowly closed until fresh new skin had completely formed over it.

...

On the gymnasium roof, four tall young men in basketball uniforms and three women dressed in yoga outfits or dance skirts sat together, discussing their next move.

“You all saw that guy yesterday! That loser with the blade kept crossing the athletic field, and the zombies couldn’t do anything to him!”

The most handsome of the four men rose excitedly, brimming with confidence.

“If a short, stupid loser like him can kill zombies so easily, then guys as strong as us can definitely do it too! As long as we work together, we can fight our way out!”

His name was Shen Jiabin. He was the president of the university basketball association and captain of the school team.

Whether in academics or basketball, he ranked among the university’s very best.

Whenever he played a game in the gymnasium, countless young women came to watch and scream his name. More girls than he could count regarded him as their dream man, and a group of devoted followers had gradually gathered around him.

Almost everyone at the university recognized the school basketball team’s handsome star.

Many students in the physical education department habitually called him “Big Brother.”

If Xiao Yi had been there, he would immediately have recognized Shen Jiabin.

The man had left a lasting impression on him.

Before the apocalypse, Xiao Yi had also loved basketball. He once dreamed of dominating the court like Shen Jiabin. But Xiao Yi was only 170 centimeters tall. When he tried to register for the team, Shen Jiabin not only rejected him but mocked him as a “level-ten cripple” because of his height.
