Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

The burly student was about to argue when a commanding voice cut him off.

“Enough! Stop arguing! What you’re saying is completely wrong. What do you mean, Xiao Yi saved us? This storeroom belongs to our school. Xiao Yi was merely lucky enough to hide here before the rest of us! The storeroom is school property, not his private property, so every one of us has the right to take shelter here. All he did was open the door for us. How can you call that saving our lives?”

Du Zhiming rose to his feet and rebuked the burly student with an air of righteous indignation.

Such utterly shameless words—and somehow, Du Zhiming delivered them as if he were unquestionably in the right!

Did Du Zhiming truly not understand what had happened that day?

Of course he did!

Everyone present knew that if Xiao Yi had not opened the door and let them inside, the zombies swarming after them would have torn them apart alive.

But did that matter?

No.

It was all in the past. They were safe now.

The only thing that mattered was surviving for as long as possible!

It did not matter who had to die. What mattered was that they themselves got to live!

Xiao Yi’s heart turned colder by the second. Just so he could throw Xiao Yi out with a clear conscience, Du Zhiming had twisted the truth and said something so vile and shameless that it made him sick.

If all of you hate me that much, then fine. I’ll leave!

But why go to such lengths to justify it?

He did not want to argue, nor did he want to explain himself.

He knew that no matter how much he said, it would all be pointless.

“Fine! I’ll go!”

Xiao Yi stood and swept an icy gaze across everyone in the room. Without another word, he walked toward the door.

What would staying here accomplish anyway?

Would it let him live for one more month?

What was the point of dragging out such a miserable, humiliating existence?

Xiao Yi would rather take his chances outside. Even being torn limb from limb by zombies would be better than looking at these disgusting people.

There were no zombies in sight outside the storeroom. Xiao Yi checked both directions. Once he was certain the area was clear, he slipped through the door and cautiously stepped into the corridor.

But all his caution was useless.

Bang!

The reinforced door slammed shut behind him. The thunderous noise immediately caught the attention of several zombies wandering aimlessly farther down the corridor.

The two closest zombies reacted as if they had just spotted the most delicious meal in the world. They shrieked and charged at Xiao Yi in a frenzy.

“Damn it!”

Xiao Yi cursed inwardly and immediately ran in the opposite direction.

He had barely taken a few steps when another massive horde appeared ahead of him.

Zombies were everywhere!

What was he supposed to do?

Xiao Yi tightened his grip on the steel pipe in his hand. With a low growl, he charged straight at the horde of grasping, snarling zombies before him.

If I’m going to die, then I’ll go down fighting!

After smashing down more than a dozen zombies, Xiao Yi finally collapsed from exhaustion. His body was covered in wounds. As more and more zombies gathered nearby, a faint smile of relief appeared on his lips.

I took more than a dozen of you down with me. That’s a good enough trade!

Just then, a voice sounded inside his mind.

【Apocalypse City System successfully bound to Host. Would Host like to establish the city now?】

A system?!

Establish a city?!

Xiao Yi froze. Was he hallucinating after being bitten by a zombie?

Words resembling a holographic projection appeared before his eyes. In the end, Xiao Yi selected 【Build Now】.

Rumble—!

A deafening crash erupted. Xiao Yi vaguely heard something impossibly heavy slam into the ground before he completely lost consciousness.

When Xiao Yi woke again, he found himself inside a wooden cabin.

It was not large—only a little over twenty square meters.

Apart from the bed beneath him, the only furniture inside was a desk and a chair.

“Huh? What happened? Wasn’t I surrounded by zombies? And I was bitten!”

Xiao Yi hurriedly examined his arm. The bite wound had completely healed, leaving only tender new skin behind.

To his astonishment, the zombie bite had not infected him. Even his injuries had healed with incredible speed.

“What is this place? How did I get here?” Xiao Yi asked with a frown.
