Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

Even as he died, he could not understand it. Something a loser he looked down on could do—how could they, elite male gods this outstanding, possibly fail to do it!

“AH!!!” The remaining three boys let out a scream of terror and turned to run back the way they had come.

But it was already too late. A huge pack of zombies charged madly up from the stairwell and swallowed the remaining three in an instant.

Xiao Yi, who was watching through the Three-Eyed Raven, changed expression.

“C-rank zombies!”

The zombies that had just burst out were clearly already evolved.

And they were different from the burly zombie from before.

These were agility-type evolved zombies.

They did not have tall, hulking bodies or overwhelming strength.

But those thin, undersized frames were extremely agile.

This kind of zombie was even more terrifying than the burly ones.

This agility-type C-rank zombie—Xiao Yi was determined to have it!

“AH!!!” A scream of terror came from the roof of the gymnasium.

Tang Jingyan and another girl in yoga clothes let out a shriek of fright.

Watching four companions get torn into pieces alive by zombies, the two girls went white with fear and collapsed onto the ground, their souls gone from their faces.

The two girls’ screams immediately caught the attention of two agility-type C-rank zombies. The two C-rank agility-types, nimble as monkeys, rolled their deathly pale eyes, shoved the horde aside, and charged up toward the roof.

Xiao Yi pulled his gaze back. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.

He actually still needed to thank those idiots from the basketball team. Not only had they drawn the C-rank zombies out for him, they had also left him two little beauties.

“Yoga goddess Tang Jingyan, ready to unlock all kinds of positions with me?”

Finished speaking, Xiao Yi sprang up, shifted into swallow form, skimmed through the air, and dropped straight off the city wall.

After he landed he quickly shifted into tiger-leopard form, cut through the zombie pack at extreme speed, and raced toward the gymnasium.

Meanwhile, at the iron door on the gymnasium roof.

Two C-rank agility-type zombies were attacking the iron door like mad with their sharp claws.

These two zombies were already enormously different from the other ordinary zombies.

That difference was not only in the huge changes to their bodies and their agility.

This type of zombie also seemed to have begun to develop low-grade intelligence.

Urgent sounds of metal striking metal kept coming from the doorway, scaring Tang Jingyan and the other girl into curling up in the corner, shivering.

By this moment, they had already sunk completely into fear.

They did not even know what they were supposed to do.

“Wuuu—” The girl trembling behind Tang Jingyan suddenly started sobbing in fear. She whimpered, “If I’d known, I would have gone with Lin Mancha and that man yesterday too! Now look. Those four are all dead. Even if those few zombies can’t get in, we’re going to starve to death up here!”

“Wuuu—I don’t want to die! Wuuu—”

Tang Jingyan was a lot calmer than this girl. Her face was bloodless and her whole body kept shaking, but she did not cry or complain.

Instead she started working to move some abandoned pieces of sports equipment, pushing them to the doorway, hoping she could use the ruined machines to reinforce how solid the iron door was.

“Jing Qiao! What are you doing over there? Get over here and help! These two zombies’ claws are vicious. They’ve already dug a hole in the iron door!”

Tang Jingyan was a girl, after all. Some of the iron machines were too heavy. Even with wheels, she still could not push them.

“So we block these zombies. Then what? Don’t we still starve to death up here?” said the girl called Jing Qiao, giving up on herself.

Tang Jingyan had no choice. She could only keep putting her strength into pushing one abandoned exercise machine toward the door.

Tang Jingyan’s effort did, in fact, work.

Under the successive attacks of the two C-rank agility-types’ sharp claws, a hole was finally torn in the iron door. One zombie shoved its head through—but it happened to get smashed back out by the exercise machine Tang Jingyan had just pushed into place.

The hole was blocked again.

An enraged roar came from outside the iron door. The two C-rank agility-type zombies began attacking the door even more frenziedly.

The hole that had just been plugged started widening again under the claws.

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG. The sound of metal striking metal did not stop.

“AH!!!” Seeing a zombie’s savage head push through again, the girl who had been hiding in the corner finally could not take the string of shocks. She scrambled up as if she had gone mad, copied what Xiao Yi had done, climbed onto the drainpipe, and tried to escape by the pipe.

Only she was too tense, and she did not have enough strength. She climbed twice, her hands slipped, and her whole body dropped toward the ground.

The height of six or seven meters did not take her life on the spot. But the zombies that closed in at once tore her into four pieces in an instant.

She did not even get the chance to scream.

Tang Jingyan hung on the railing and watched her classmate get dismembered by zombies. At last she collapsed onto the ground, spent. Tears slid from the corners of her eyes without her meaning them to.

The hole in the iron door was getting bigger and bigger. Before long, the zombies would be able to squeeze through that hole and get inside.
