Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

“But where did all the zombies he killed go? Why have their bodies disappeared?” The tall girl watched Xiao Yi in confusion, a faint crease appearing on her smooth, pale forehead.

As the two discussed it, Xiao Yi vanished from sight.

Their window was on the side of the dormitory, so they could not see the building’s main entrance.

The two girls sat back down on the bed, torn between hope and fear. They prayed that the brave young man would fight his way upstairs and save them.

“He must be our Prince Charming! No—he’s the Monkey King, riding a rainbow cloud to rescue us!”

“He’s so strong. He’ll definitely make it up here!”

As they prayed, a burst of urgent knocking came from the door.

Knock, knock, knock!

“Who is it?” the petite girl asked nervously.

“You two called me over. Open the door. I’ve killed all the zombies outside,” Xiao Yi replied coldly.

The zombie virus had erupted during daytime classes, so there had not been many people in the dormitory. When Xiao Yi hacked through the building’s iron entrance and rushed inside, he encountered only five or six female zombies in the corridor, all of them the weakest kind.

It did not take him long to reach the girls’ room.

The door slowly opened. When the two girls saw Xiao Yi, they hurriedly pulled him inside and shut the door again.

Xiao Yi looked around. It was a perfectly ordinary girls’ dorm room—cozy, clean, and carrying the distinctive fragrance of young women.

Several pairs of pink panties and large-cup black bras hung from the side of a bed, immediately drawing his attention.

The petite girl noticed where he was looking and blushed furiously. “Why are you staring at everything? We’re dying of thirst! Hurry up and give us some water and food. Um... sausages are my favorite!”

Xiao Yi smiled faintly and turned to study her with interest. “I do have plenty of food and water. There’s also more left in the convenience store, and I can collect it whenever I want. But why should I give any of it to you?”

His voice was cold. It was not because he lacked all compassion, but because he refused to let anyone repay his kindness with betrayal ever again.

These two needed to understand that he was under no obligation to save them. If they wanted something, they would have to pay an equivalent price.

He could rescue them. He could give them food.

But that would be charity—not his duty!

And if they wanted more, they would have to pay a greater price.

The tall girl heard the chill in Xiao Yi’s voice and smiled awkwardly. “Thank you for coming to save us. My name is Li Wanning, and this is Shen Tingting. We’re both sophomores. We’ve been trapped here for days, and we’re terribly hungry and thirsty. Could you please spare us a little food and water?”

Xiao Yi looked at Li Wanning and nodded with satisfaction. He pulled two ham sausages and two bottles of water from his Spatial Pouch and tossed them to the girls.

“Take them.”

“Thank you! Thank you so much!” Li Wanning said gratefully, bowing to him.

Shen Tingting merely flashed her little canine teeth and huffed. She snatched up a bottle and began gulping down the water.

Both girls were desperately hungry and thirsty. They finished the sausages and water in no time.

Rubbing her stomach, which now felt even hungrier, Li Wanning asked with embarrassment, “Could you give us a little more food? We really haven’t eaten in a long time...”

“You’re so stingy! That’s all you’re giving us? How is one little sausage supposed to fill anyone up?” Shen Tingting complained with a pout. After drinking some water, her lips looked even softer and more inviting.

“You want more food and water? Fine.” Xiao Yi’s gaze traveled over Li Wanning’s full lips and tall, shapely body. His expression remained indifferent. “What I gave you just now was charity. I’m not running a relief organization. I can help you for free once, but there won’t be a second time. If you want anything more, you’ll have to trade me something I consider valuable.”

Li Wanning shuddered, and her face turned deathly pale.

Of course she understood what he meant!

Given their present situation, what could they possibly have that Xiao Yi would value?

Other than themselves, they had nothing worthwhile to offer!

But...

Did she truly have to do that in order to survive?

“I can give you money!” Shen Tingting pulled more than a dozen hundred-yuan bills from her pocket and held them out. “This used to be enough to buy hundreds of sausages! I only want ten from you!”

Shen Tingting had been the pampered daughter of a wealthy family. Before the apocalypse, she would never have spared someone like Xiao Yi a second glance.

Xiao Yi smiled and shook his head. “This is the apocalypse. Paper money has lost every last bit of its value. Save it and try bargaining with the zombies. I don’t need it.”

“Then... what do you want?” Shen Tingting asked, staring at him with large, watery eyes.

Xiao Yi glanced at Li Wanning and replied with a teasing smile, “She should know what to do.”
