Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

If Li Wanning and Shen Tingting had not been beautiful enough to satisfy his desires, Xiao Yi would never have rescued them either.

Besides, what if the people in the gym repaid him with betrayal?

He might be strong now, but there were five athletic men in that group.

If they plotted against him, he could not guarantee that they would not succeed in murdering him.

Then they would seize his city.

And take his women.

Even if the city’s power could force them to become his slaves once they entered, what if those tall, muscular, handsome men seduced his women behind his back while he was out hunting zombies?

Would he not end up being cuckolded?

With Xiao Yi as the only man in the city, the two women obeyed his every command. If several handsome and powerful men joined them, he could not guarantee how they would behave.

Women! Xiao Yi had already seen what infatuated women were capable of, and he had no intention of giving them the slightest opportunity.

“If you want to save them, I can open the gate and let you out,” Xiao Yi told Li Wanning with an icy glance.

Realizing she had said the wrong thing, Li Wanning immediately lowered her head and stepped back, her eyes glistening with tears.

After a brief silence, Xiao Yi suddenly smiled. “You must both be wondering whether I’m too selfish.”

Without waiting for an answer, he continued, “That’s right. I am selfish. Whether anyone else lives or dies has nothing to do with me. All I want is to survive this apocalypse comfortably. If either of you wants to play the saint or no longer wants to remain here, you’re free to leave. I will never stop you. You will always have that choice.”

As Xiao Yi spoke, the group in the gymnasium finally ran into trouble. A hulking Power-Type Zombie seized one of the young men and bit his head off.

The others screamed in terror and sprinted toward the roof.

Perhaps the massive zombie was ravenously hungry, because it remained behind to gorge itself rather than pursue them.

That gave the remaining survivors a chance to escape.

Soon, Xiao Yi saw them appear on the gymnasium roof carrying bulging bags of supplies.

The building stood only three stories tall, but that was enough to protect them from the zombies. The creatures could not climb walls. As long as the survivors barricaded the stairwell door, they would be safe for the time being.

The group seemed to realize this as well. After resting, the young man who had led them climbed onto the railing and raised his middle finger toward Xiao Yi.

Then he lifted a sign overhead and pointed at it challengingly.

It read: “JUST YOU WAIT!”

They were clearly furious that Xiao Yi had ignored their plea for help and intended to take revenge when they had the chance.

Xiao Yi’s face darkened, but he did not continue watching the young man. Instead, his gaze settled thoughtfully on the abnormally large zombie.

“Excellent. That’s exactly the kind of zombie I need! The people who turned inside the gymnasium must have been in better physical condition, making their zombie forms correspondingly stronger. It seems I’ll have to visit the gym after all. As for that rich pretty boy telling me to wait...” A wicked smile curved across Xiao Yi’s lips. “You’re the one who should wait.”

The zombie had clearly mutated. It was even stronger than the hulking zombie he had previously killed. Burying such a corpse would undoubtedly improve his attributes. It might even grant him a skill or talent!

That was exactly the kind of corpse he needed.

Before visiting the gymnasium, however, he had to pay a visit to the ungrateful bastards in the school storeroom.

Xiao Yi did not consider himself evil, but neither was he a good man.

He repaid kindness with kindness and vengeance with vengeance. That was his principle.

Swallow his anger?

Repay evil with virtue?

Not a chance!

This was the apocalypse. No one could restrain him now!

With Xiao Yi’s present strength, killing ordinary zombies was as easy as chopping vegetables. When several crowded together, one swing of the Blade of Sin could sever multiple heads.

Even so, by the time he fought his way to the storeroom, he was beginning to feel tired.

Xiao Yi pounded heavily on the door. A moment later, someone called cautiously from inside, his voice trembling faintly.

“Who is it?”

Xiao Yi recognized Du Zhiming’s voice.

“It’s me, Xiao Yi. I found food and water,” he replied calmly.

Silence followed. Then came the sounds of movement and what seemed like an argument. At last, the storeroom door slowly opened. A pair of wary eyes studied Xiao Yi through the narrow gap before widening in surprise.

“How are you still alive? You haven’t been bitten, have you?”
