Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 545: Chapter 495: I’m Leaving! (Previous Chapter Unblocked)

Northern Prison.

Water Tower.

Ten days later, the remaining food was only enough for them to eat for two more days.

Under the water tower, the piled up bodies of zombies had reached several tens of thousands, forming a mountain of zombie corpses over ten meters high.

Inside the prison, within the walls, zombies were everywhere. They climbed over the walls and surged towards the water tower after reaching the inside of the prison.

According to preliminary estimates by Third Uncle and the others, the number of zombies had increased to around three hundred thousand during this period.

The magnitude of zombies was horrifying.

Atop the water tower.

Li Tie wearily said to his father: ”Dad, we don’t have much food left.” His eyes were filled with exhaustion, and although everyone had taken turns, the intense physical activity was too much for them.

Third Uncle looked at the sky without saying a word.

Humans can only do their part and leave the rest to fate.

What had to be done and what shouldn’t have been done were all done; if they still couldn’t grasp a glimmer of hope, it meant it was destined to be.

Suddenly, a ray of light broke through the dark clouds, resembling the light emitted when a UFO lands.

The golden light, in the vast dark sky, made Li Tie and others extremely excited.

Light, the sun!

The time was 1 p.m.

Then came two rays of light, three rays of light...

More and more light pierced through the clouds, completely tearing them apart.

The rain gradually became sparser, and the most direct effect was that the zombies climbing up the water tower slowed down considerably.

As the sunlight changed, more and more sun rays showered down on earth, and people came out from their small rooms, spreading their arms as if to embrace the sun.

No one could understand their feelings; being in a cramped space, seemingly on the verge of collapse, surrounded by zombies.

Moreover, under clouds that blotted out the sun constantly with heavy rain, everyone was nearly driven mad in such a cramped environment!

Now, looking up, they could feel the radiance of the sun, even feel its warmth on their skin.

A sense of bliss surged, a feeling hard to describe in words, like drinking chilled watermelon juice in the summer heat or trekking outside for dozens of kilometers in thirty degrees below zero in winter, not sleeping for three days, then coming back to a heated kang (traditional heated bed).

...

After experiencing days without a trace of sunlight, they felt that basking in the sun was a happiness.

At this moment, that was exactly how Li Tie and the others felt.

The rain gradually decreased, and half an hour later, it stopped.

A rainbow hung across the sky.

Following this, the zombies stopped climbing up the water tower; some zombies outside the walls were dazed but began to leave subconsciously under the sun which enhanced the evaporation of moisture more than one in the afternoon.

Zombies outside the walls began to move toward nearby forests, some inside the prison sought refuge in buildings.

Some on the walls stepped down from there, leaving the prison area towards the woods.

As if retreat tides accompanied the incoming fierce waves when they arrived.

These zombies, while howling, departed with a certain unsettling quietness.

Third Uncle stood beside the Water Tower, silently smoking a cigarette that he had held onto for a long time, contemplating if he wouldn’t survive, he’d smoke it.

Now, it seemed it wouldn’t have to wait until the end.

The rain had stopped, and they had a chance again.

Looking down, Third Uncle saw that thanks to their setting up the cars before ascending the tower below the Water Tower, they weren’t buried under zombie bodies; yet, from atop the Water Tower, there were still some zombies around.

But that wasn’t the most important part; the crucial thing now was how to get down.

Underneath the Water Tower, the bodies of the zombies had piled up into a mountain.

If some zombies weren’t dead, what to do if bitten while descending?

Observe first.

Third Uncle arranged some people to stay alert and observe the dead zombies below. If any live zombies were found, they were to be dealt with bullets.

These days, they hadn’t used much ammunition, but their spears brought along were worn out, and many were unusable.

Old Lü and some others started clearing zombies below since the afternoon sun made the atmosphere rather warm, and the zombies within the prison, if able, mostly moved into the buildings.

However, there were still some zombies, perhaps without limbs or pushed down in their previous climb, stuck and unable to move.

They could only roar helplessly.

Bang bang bang~

Qin joined in, firing at visible live zombies from above and resolving them one by one.

Their position was directly above the high ground, and the view of the slope below was relatively clear; they could see all the zombies—except those buried underneath.

A few minutes later, there was gradually no noise from below; the roaring of zombies had stopped.

However, Third Uncle looked at the things everyone had brought up, feeling that it would be difficult to climb out over the zombie bodies with all that weight.

He then said: ”Pack everything other than our bullets and weapons, throw it out, and slide it down this slope.
