Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Uncle and others took the children out of the base.

At this moment, it was just past two in the afternoon, the hottest time of the day, but since it was spring, the temperature was not very high, about 27 or 28 degrees Celsius.

The Southern region is full of hills and karst caves, and there are also rivers.

Not far from where they were, there was a cave that had been developed into a tourist site before the end of the world. However, it was located far from the County and was not very well-known.

Their destination today was not this cave; instead, they set out from the back gate towards High Mountain Corner.

Behind the base’s back gate was a dense forest, and after climbing over this mountain, the continuous high mountain that lay beyond was High Mountain Corner.

High Mountain Corner was the highest mountain in the area, quite primitive, and it was common to encounter wild boars and pheasants.

Each time the children went out, they would be extremely cautious; aside from the five people openly guarding them, there were always two or three more scouting the surrounding area secretly.

He Chao’s daughter, Xiao Ya, was also there, dressed in a full set of protective gear which was originally designed according to adult sizes.

But the crucial joints could still be accommodated, and in the base, Song Min and others thought of using some hard cardboard panels to make simple protective gear after processing.

It couldn’t resist bullets, but it could resist the bites of zombies.

Everyone carried helmets, and among the children, those who were slightly older carried crossbows, while the younger ones carried daggers and medium-length spears.

Among these people, the oldest was Second Uncle’s son, Liu Chi, 14 years old, and the youngest was Li Suxin, 6 years old.

Over a year had passed since the apocalypse erupted, and Li Suxin had grown from 4 to 6 years old.

But for Li Yu, she was still the little cousin who would yell ”Big Bro” whenever she saw him.

This time seeing Li Yu come out with them, Li Suxin was very happy. Although Li Yu often stayed in the base, he was too busy to play with her.

Now seeing that Li Yu was coming out with them, Li Suxin was the happiest. Meanwhile, Xuanxuan, the little girl Li Yu had rescued over a year ago, was now already ten years old and had undergone significant changes in demeanor.

From the original weak and gentle lamb-like demeanor, she now appeared confident and forthright.

Third Uncle and Lai Xiyue and others said that Xuanxuan was very hardworking and had excellent grades.

Even in the Martial Arts classes taught by Third Uncle, Xuanxuan’s performance made Third Uncle nod in approval.

Xuanxuan stood there, quietly watching Li Yu holding Li Suxin’s hand, she was delighted, and a smile spread across her lips.

Then she walked behind Li Yu, following him like a shadow.

When Li Yu had rescued her initially, she had secretly vowed to become strong to protect this man in the future.

...

The wind in spring was always gentle.

Li Yu held Li Suxin with one hand and pressed down on his automatic rifle with the other.

This was no picnic; for them, it was an outdoor class. Sometimes, they even left some zombies deliberately for them to deal with.

Only by facing zombies could they resist zombies; Li Yu did not want these individuals to be so well protected that they didn’t know how to fight back.

If it were like that, then rather than helping these children, it would harm them; having shielded them from hardships at the beginning, but once their strength was needed, they simply couldn’t grow quickly enough.

It might be better to let them realize the harsh reality of the world from the start, slowly accept it, and then they could develop a strong heart to face everything.

This mountain path was not easy to navigate, and for the younger Li Suxin, it was a great challenge; climbing this slope made her little face turn red and flushed.

Her apple-like cheeks glistened with beads of sweat, and when she looked up and saw Li Yu watching her, her little apple face instantly brightened with a smile, visible under the sunlight on her forehead’s soft fuzzy hair.

Li Yu didn’t say anything but his face showed a look of relief.

Seeing even the youngest Li Suxin being so resilient instantly made him feel that under such training, the children would not be weak.

This group of children were like little wolf cubs, tough and tenacious.

Roar~

When they walked down the mountain, they heard the roar of zombies coming from the foot of the mountain.

Li Yu carefully observed the children’s expressions; none showed fear, suggesting that taking them out frequently for training had been somewhat effective.

Learning from books feels shallow, deep understanding requires personal experience; if you don’t practice but rely solely on theoretical explanations, when it’s time to apply, there will be a significant gap.

For the children’s education, it always combined theory and practice, with even greater emphasis on practice.

Hearing the growl of the zombies, the children showed no fear; some even pricked up their ears to listen, trying to estimate the number.

Others looked around for strategic hiding spots and advantageous attacking positions.

Li Yu found their actions quite interesting; much of what Third Uncle taught was derived from his own combat experiences.

The surveillance and psychology topics taught by Uncle, although not applicable to zombies now, would be useful if they encountered people from outside in the future.

The zombie roars came only a few times, seemingly just a few zombies.

Thus, they calmly continued walking down the mountain, which was the base of High Mountain Corner.

Before he even reached the foot of the mountain, Li Yu saw four zombies approaching them.

Uncle and others stood to one side with their hands behind their backs, seemingly uninterested in dealing with these zombies.

Four zombies – Li Yu wanted to see how these children would handle them.

As the zombies approached, the oldest, Liu Chi, stepped forward, raised his compound crossbow, and aimed at one of the zombies on the right.

This type of compound crossbow, even if wielded by children with less strength, could still unleash powerful force.

Whoosh~

The crossbow flew, shooting directly into the zombie’s chest. The zombie, having not been hit in the head, was still rushing this way.

Liu Chi shouted to the people behind him: ”People under ten years old, retreat; those over ten, join me in dealing with these zombies.”

After saying that, he didn’t panic, instead, he drew another arrow, strung it, and shot it at the same zombie he targeted before.

Puff – the arrow accurately hit the head, and the zombie fell to the ground.

At the same time, people like Li Suxin and Zhang Zhixing, the Little Booger, all obediently moved back. They knew going forward would only add to the chaos, better to step back and leave space for the older ones to handle things.

Swoosh –

Another sound of a crossbow arrow, just to see Xuanxuan, who was standing next to Li Yu just a moment ago, had raised the crossbow and shot a zombie.

The arrow flew swiftly, piercing directly through the zombie’s head.

Following that, the remaining two zombies also came forward.

Li Peizhen and Wang Cheng’s daughter, Wang Xiaoguo, one on each side, aimed their spears when the zombies drew near.

Looking at their technique, it seems they have practiced quite a bit in the base.

In these short two minutes, they had taken down four zombies. There was no panic, no flee; Li Yu saw their coordination and teamwork.

This is crucial.

After the zombies fell, Li Yu saw Liu Chi and others behind them using spears to ensure the zombies were finished off.

Seeing this, Li Yu nodded his head. Worthily the people from Big Camphor Tree Base, always make sure to finish off.

By the foothill, there was a stream, flowing down from High Mountain Corner.

In this valley, Liu Chi also walked into a dense jungle.

Li Yu was puzzled and looked at Uncle, who only smiled and said nothing.

Soon, they heard Liu Chi excitedly shouting: ”Got it, got it.”

Saying so, he emerged from the bushes, carrying two pheasants.

Li Suxin widened her eyes, her mouth forming an ’O’, ”Liu Chi is so amazing!”

As the oldest among them, Liu Chi should be more composed, but no matter how composed, he was still a child, especially with everyone present.

Feeling proud, especially hearing Li Suxin’s flattery, his face beamed with pride, as if saying, ’quietly, it was my trap.’

Li Yu also smiled, saying: ”Nicely done, Little Chi.”

On the mountainside and foothill, Liu Chi and others had set up some traps and mechanisms.

These mechanisms were very ingeniously made; mostly, the trapped animals were hung in the air.

”Ah, what a pity,” Uncle said upon seeing this. ThiscontentishostedatNovelFire.

On the foothill, the stream gathered at a pit on the right, where a trap had been dug.

This trap was initially dug by the children together, hoping to catch a large animal.

Unfortunately, though they did catch something large, it was inedible now.

Inside the large pit, there were two zombies eating a wild boar, half of the boar’s body was already gone.

Pity!

Now, if setting traps, one must consider not to be grabbed by zombies; otherwise, it would be a wasted effort, benefitting the zombies.

Pulling out the spears, they impaled the two zombies. These zombies, perhaps preoccupied with eating, had no reaction at all and were immediately downed.

Li Yu also saw the wild boar; it looked to be over three hundred pounds, a significant loss indeed.

Uncle then cleaned up the pit and led the children to reset the traps.

The traps had to be enticing enough for the animals and avoid attracting zombies.

Li Yu listened to their teaching, finding some of the techniques rather interesting.

They spent about two hours teaching, laying down more traps in good spots nearby.

That wrapped up today’s lesson.

Climbing High Mountain Corner was definitely not feasible today; the long and steep mountain path would take a whole day to traverse, so today, they could only learn the basics at its foothill.

The time reached four o’clock.

As evening approached, they just needed to cross the small thicket behind them to return to the base.

With Li Yu’s speed, it would take only about six or seven minutes to get back to the base.

Uncle said to everyone, ”Let’s head back first. What were the safety points I mentioned last time? Does everyone remember?”

”I do.

Zombies, don’t panic, aim for the head,

If unsure about traps, poke with a stick,

Count the zombies, look and listen,

After killing, don’t just leave, make sure they’re dead,

...”

Li Yu heard this rhyme, his face showing a shocked expression.

This... will this really work?
