Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Li Lan Tian saw Xiao Chen like that and went up, knowing Xiao Chen didn’t want anyone to disturb her now.

The carriage was particularly quiet, Xiao Chen closed her eyes, and no one knew the hatred in her heart.

Hatred for the family, for Dad’s indifference, letting her be bullied by outsiders, and when he found out she was violated by that outsider’s son, he actually asked her to leave.

Thinking of that man, Xiao Chen felt only hatred and fear.

At that time, when she was eight, her mother had a mental breakdown and left home.

When she was found, it was discovered in the river.

Eight-year-old Xiao Chen was taken to the city by Dad, thinking she could finally live a good life, not being bullied or enduring days without rest.

But half a year later, Dad found her a stepmother, who brought a pair of twelve-year-old twins.

At that time, she didn’t have any ideas, as long as she had enough to eat and drink.

But reality was never like that, her suffering began all over again. She became like a maid in the house, having to do everything herself, while the stepsister only needed to dress glamorously for school.

She wasn’t stupid, and insisted on going to school strongly until her wish was granted, but still had to do all the housework.

That was manageable, as she had always done all sorts of chores at home, and it was much easier than it was in the countryside.

Life went on like this for a year, she was already ten years old, and knowing the difficulty of learning, her grades were outstanding, always coming first, and Dad was proud.

But another half year passed and the stepmother gave birth to twin brothers.

The two children diverted all of Dad’s focus, and he listened to her stepmother submissively.

The stepmother was rather arrogant, she didn’t bother to harm Xiao Chen, but because of her excellent grades, Xiao Chen skipped grades, only a year behind the twins. This made her stepsister incredibly envious.

However, she wouldn’t be entirely passive; although she had minimal presence at home, Dad never forced her to drop out.

Two more years passed, she was twelve, and her good grades earned the teacher and classmates’ admiration.

The twins’ grades were average, and the boy often got into fights, even the hooligans didn’t want to associate with him.

He was already sixteen, tall and strong, looking rather handsome, but no one dared talk to him, and Xiao Chen avoided him out of fear.

When she was thirteen and got her period, she discreetly returned home, and seeing no one was around, she hurried to clean herself. But while washing, he returned and saw her, it scared her to death.

Although he didn’t do anything then, he continued to secretly watch her.

At fourteen, she entered eighth grade. She had grown much taller and attracted much attention. Her mind was focused solely on studies because Dad promised if she remained first, she would attend high school.

Xiao Chen really studied late into the night every day, spending every available moment reading and studying.

She truly managed to get into high school with top scores.

Xiao Chen knew that wasn’t enough; although Dad agreed, he wasn’t in control at home, but he was vain and easily swayed by compliments.

After the exams, she went to find the homeroom teacher, tearfully explaining her situation.

The thirty-year-old female teacher, who was very righteous and liked Xiao Chen dearly, approached Dad directly once the scores were released.

Ultimately, Dad agreed to let her attend high school. But those twins had graduated last year and lazed at home.

She could attend high school, which upset her stepsister, who cried and fussed until Dad gave her twenty yuan to calm her down.

During summer vacation, Xiao Chen wanted to visit her old home but was refused by her stepmother.

Xiao Chen clearly remembers when she said, ”Your Dad and I will take the children back to the old home for a month; you stay home and serve your brother.”

Enduring for so long, she didn’t resist.

Borrowing high school textbooks, she spent her days at home studying, while that person found a job at the enamel factory, though only as a temporary worker, it was still decent.

During the day, she focused on her studies at home, only needing to prepare meals and wash clothes for him. Not having endless chores and being away from the naughty brothers was nice.

Three days passed, and after dinner, he went out again. She cleaned up as before, washing his clothes.

Suddenly awoken in the middle of the night by fright, she saw him standing on the floor watching her.

Instinctively afraid, she stammered, ”Brother, are you hungry? I’ll make you supper.”

Without saying anything, he directly undressed and pressed her down.

She fought desperately, but how could she be a match for him?

Finally, he had his way. She would remember the devil’s voice for life, ”Be obedient, or you won’t have a way out...”

Thus, she couldn’t escape him for that month, even when she thought her period might keep him away, but he wouldn’t agree.

The family returned, and her stepsister noticed her changes, angrily breaking dishes, though Xiao Chen knew she had changed a lot, her body improved, and her face became prettier… He controlled himself more, but still came every few nights to her room.

Thinking school would offer relief, he exacerbated his behavior instead.

After starting high school, several classmates pursued her, which he found out. He severely beat one into hospitalization, threatening if anyone dared pursue her, they’d face consequences.

Her grades plummeted due to her troubled mind; she couldn’t focus to study.

The victim’s family wasn’t decent, directly approached hers, and Dad was forced to pay fifty yuan, spurred by the stepsister to withdraw Xiao Chen from school.

No matter how she pleaded, nothing worked, leading her to serve the family.

He paid for the construction of a wing room, marking her move into separate quarters from her stepsister, facilitating him, and giving her miserable days.

Three years later, last year, her stepsister married into a fairly well-off family, and the stepmother promptly arranged a match for him, leading rapidly to marriage discussions. Xiao Chen was upset, having endured him for four years; though she hated him for forcing her, how could she not have any feelings?
