Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”What’s wrong?”

”Pregnancy will cause breast milk to disappear, so the baby will need to be weaned before six months and switched to formula.”

Wei Kaiyun’s hand reached up, only to be swatted away by Jiang Xinyu, ”Behave yourself, I haven’t reached three months yet.”

Upon hearing his wife’s words, Wei Kaiyun understood instantly — does that mean it’s okay after three months? What a pleasant surprise.

But he couldn’t show it now, ”Honey, I can only stay with you until next February.”

”That’s already wonderful, a delightful surprise for me.”

Hearing his wife’s words, Wei Kaiyun felt a bittersweet pain in his heart.

”I’m sorry for not being there for you.”

”Don’t say that. I am already very happy that you are here with me. I’m tired.” With that, she yawned, found a comfortable position, and closed her eyes to sleep.

Wei Kaiyun wasn’t sleepy. His wife fell asleep in less than five minutes — was she too tired during the day?

In the middle of the night, their son woke up, and Wei Kaiyun gently patted his wife, ”You sleep, I’ve got this.”

Jiang Xinyu was too exhausted, and besides, he is Shi Jing’s dad; this is good for strengthening their father-son bond.

After taking care of his son, Wei Kaiyun made some formula. Watching his son eat hungrily and happily, he couldn’t stop smiling.

The little guy didn’t sleep after eating, so Wei Kaiyun had no choice but to play with him. He finally realized how tough it was for his wife to care for the baby at night and still attend school during the day.

On Saturday, Jiang Xinyu’s biological clock was already set, and she woke up at the usual time. Seeing the person holding her, she felt a bit content.

As soon as she moved, Wei Kaiyun opened his eyes, ”Honey, good morning.” He leaned in for a deep kiss.

The little guy beside them also woke up. The family of three got up together.

Bai Hongying watched them and felt happy for them. She didn’t know the full story; she just thought the man worked away and returned upon hearing his wife was pregnant.

After breakfast, Jiang Xinyu decided to go to the store to buy a stroller. The weather was getting warmer by the day, and it was time they brought the baby outside.

Both wore trench coats and stood in front of the mirror together. No matter how Wei Kaiyun looked at it, he felt they were a perfect match.

Walking down the street together, they attracted everyone’s attention.

Jiang Xinyu was only 1.62 meters tall, while Wei Kaiyun was 1.83 meters. There was a significant height difference between them, but from behind, they looked harmonious.

Arriving at the building, they went straight to the third floor to buy a stroller.

It had four wheels and was assembled with bamboo pieces. It could lie flat for the baby or be adjusted upright in the middle, with seats on both sides for a child.

Kaiyun carried it downstairs, and then they wandered on the first floor.

Upon arriving here, the coupons were distributed monthly, but they weren’t very wealthy. They never had to use their sugar coupons, though.

They bought some seasonings and two packages of candles. Despite having electricity, it was unstable and often blacked out.

Afterwards, they pushed the stroller to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought some tofu, a pound of bean sprouts, and a bunch of garlic sprouts.

The butcher shop was selling both lamb and pork today.

Jiang Xinyu bought some pig blood, ribs, and bone marrow.

With the stroller, it was convenient to carry everything.

Opportunities for the two to shop together were rare, so Wei Kaiyun cherished this moment.

”Honey, are you tired? How about we shop a bit more?”

”What’s out there? Let’s just go home.”

”Okay, can you accompany me to the post office first? I need to call Old Yang.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded; that was no problem.

Walking down the street, they suddenly heard someone calling Jiang Xinyu’s name from behind.

”Wu, classmate?”

”Jiang, what are you up to?”

”I’m buying a stroller for my child so we can go out and catch some sun. Wu, what are you doing?”

”Just strolling around.” This young lady kept sneaking glances at Wei Kaiyun. What’s up with that?

She glared fiercely at the man beside her; he shouldn’t be attracting so much attention.

Wei Kaiyun felt innocent. What did this have to do with him? He was innocent, okay? And, in his eyes, he didn’t see any difference between men and women.

After exchanging a few more words, they parted ways.

”Hmph!”

”Honey, you’re wrong to accuse me. I didn’t do anything.”

”In the future, you’re not allowed to dress up.”

Wei Kaiyun thought: This is really unfair.

Arriving at the post office, they attracted many curious glances.

Wei Kaiyun dialed Old Yang’s number.

”Everything is arranged on my side.”

”You got it done quickly; becoming a dad really changes things. You used to be so hesitant.”

”I’ll be back next February. They only allowed me that much time.”

”That’s quite good. I’ve sent someone over there, so you can take over when you return.”

”Okay, that’s it for now. I’ll hang up.”

”By the way, ask Xiao Jiang if she needs anything. I’ll send it over.”

”No need, supplies here are quite sufficient.”

They left the post office and leisurely walked home.

On Monday, Wei Kaiyun took his wife to school. Jiang Xinyu really didn’t want him to, but he insisted.

Getting close to him, ”Do you feel like you’re taking your daughter to school?”

Wei Kaiyun smirked mischievously and whispered in Jiang Xinyu’s ear, ”If you want to call me that, wait until tonight.”

”Ugh, shameless.”

Wei Kaiyun didn’t feel embarrassed at all, but Jiang Xinyu blushed bright red.

Reaching the school gate, Wei Kaiyun handed her the backpack, ”I’ll pick you up at noon.”

”No need. You stay at home with the child; I’ll come back myself.”

Standing together, all the students going in and out took a glance at them.

”We’ll decide later. If the child is awake, I won’t come. If he’s asleep, I’ll pick you up.”

”We can see home from here; no need for pickup.”

”Go on,” Wei Kaiyun said with a smile.

Watching his wife with her backpack disappear into the crowd until she was out of sight, he headed home.

”Ms. Jiang, who was that?” Several girls surrounded her, curious.

”That’s the father of my child.”

With the disappointed expressions on their faces, Jiang Xinyu found it amusing.

She sat down in the classroom, and Zhang Shuping walked in, ”Xinyu, I heard there was a handsome man who brought you to school?”

”Wei Kaiyun.”

”Is his situation resolved?”

”Yes, he came back on Friday.”

”Is he staying?”

”Just until I give birth.”

”That’s good enough.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded, ”Yes, it’s already pretty good.” One must learn to be content. When giving birth to Shi Jing, it was just her.

”But he sure attracts attention. Many are discussing him downstairs.”

”Yes, he does have a way of inciting attention,” Jiang Xinyu sighed.

”Hahaha, you better keep an eye on him.”

”Sis, you’re mistaken. I won’t keep watch. What’s mine is mine; what’s not I’ll never force to stay.”

”You say it so easily; you already have two kids together.”
