Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”Do you think our Shi Jing will become very violent in the future?”

”Wife, you’re overthinking it. Master Shang will also teach Shi Jing knowledge, so don’t worry.”

With Wei Kaiyun’s reassurance, Jiang Xinyu put the matter aside. She’s quite relaxed, having no experience is one thing, but she was also raised quite freely as a child.

During this week, Jiang Xinyu witnessed her son’s act of rebellion. Now, the first person he runs to is Jiang Xinyu when he wakes up in the morning, but for the rest of the time, he only wants Master Shang. Wei Kaiyun is completely neglected.

Seeing the aggrieved expression on the child’s father, Jiang Xinyu felt especially pleased. It brightened her mood thoroughly.

On August 31st, Jiang Xinyu went back to school. At this time, all the students had to pull weeds and clean the playground themselves.

Jiang Xinyu, with her big belly, was asked by the counselor to sit on the side.

This treatment was quite good; Jiang Xinyu felt a bit embarrassed and voluntarily offered water to everyone.

The counselor walked over to Jiang Xinyu and noticed her wearing a long-sleeved dress down to her ankles, indicating she was well taken care of.

”Jiang Xinyu, when are you due?”

”End of September.”

”Your grades in your first year were pretty good. Now that you’re having a second child, I hope you don’t neglect your studies.”

”I won’t. I will work hard on my studies.” She still wanted to graduate smoothly. Although things were good here, it wasn’t her ultimate belonging.

At midday when school was out, Wei Kaiyun showed up at the gate.

The couple chatted and laughed as they walked back home. ”Wife, you shouldn’t have come today.”

”It’s okay, our counselor takes special care of me. I was just watching from the side.”

”School starts tomorrow, you must be really exhausted.”

”It’s alright, no worries. With you at home, my mind is at ease.”

Wei Kaiyun felt a bit sad hearing her words, as he wouldn’t be able to stay by his wife and child’s side for much longer.

Afterward, he wouldn’t be around to take care of them.

After saying that, Jiang Xinyu also felt something was off, ”It’s okay. Even without you, I can take good care of the children. I’m in my second year of college now. It’s nothing much, I just want to go home soon.”

”Yes, I’ll save up my vacation time to come and see you all.”

”Alright, but it would be best if you could come after I graduate to pick me up. There’s too much stuff and two little ones; I find it a bit challenging.”

”For sure, don’t worry. I’ll arrange everything well.”

Shi Jing was already eleven months old. The little guy was gaining skills recently; he could take steps, though unsteady, but he’s very determined. Even if he fell, he wouldn’t cry; he’d get up and continue.

Jiang Xinyu didn’t let Bai Hongying support the child, encouraging him to get up on his own.

Shang Zhenkun was quite satisfied with Jiang Xinyu’s attitude. At least she wasn’t a doting mother.

He privately observed the interactions between Wei Kaiyun and his family, finding them rather amusing. Unexpectedly, Wei Kaiyun was quite a gentle man, but his little wife was sensible.

The couple got along very well, appearing as a happy family.

Jiang Xinyu usually drank formula milk, but as her due date approached, she often experienced leg cramps, and Wei Kaiyun would always help massage them.

”Wife, you’re enduring too much hardship.”

”Yes, after this child is born, I won’t have another. It’s too uncomfortable.”

”Alright, two kids are quite enough for us.”

School days weren’t particularly tough. When the heart is calm, the body stays cool, and being fully engaged in studies, the heat becomes unnoticeable.

Huang Hongwei entered the house with a sullen face. He finally heard the gossip outside. He didn’t wait for Kong Mengjie today and rushed back to see this child.

The little guy was just two months old, but still very cute, especially the eyes and nose, resembling Kong Mengjie quite a lot. Although the overall resemblance to Kong Mengjie wasn’t very strong, only about forty percent.

Hearing people outside say the child looks just like Zhao Zhongshuo made Huang Hongwei anxious, as he hadn’t paid much attention before. Upon careful examination now, it indeed had some resemblance.

Huang Hongwei was wide-eyed, wondering if this really wasn’t his son, but he still didn’t want to believe it.

Kong Mengjie also arrived home, seeing Huang Hongwei staring at their son, she knew the worst had happened.

”Why didn’t you wait for me today?”

”Kong Mengjie, I heard people outside saying this child looks very much like Zhao Zhongshuo.”

”Huang Hongwei, don’t you trust me? The son looks like his second uncle, yet you believe others saying he resembles someone else?” Kong Mengjie spoke while tears streamed down her face.

Huang Hongwei scrutinized the child again, trying to recall what the brother-in-law looked like, and truth be told, the kid did resemble the brother-in-law.

Kong Mengjie was anxious inside, unsure if she could get through this. She can never admit to this, or else it’s all over.

”Mengjie, but looking at this child?”

”Huang Hongwei, let’s divorce. If you don’t trust me, what’s the point of staying together?”

”Mengjie, Mengjie, don’t say that. It’s my fault, I’m a jerk. I shouldn’t have listened to others. I’m a horrible person.” He moved to embrace Kong Mengjie.

”You’d rather listen to others’ nonsense but suspect me? What do you expect me to do? I followed you unwillingly, and this is how you treat me? I rush home every day to look after the child, making five or six trips a day, and this is what I get?”

Huang Hongwei felt even more guilty. Indeed, his wife was fifteen years younger than him. If he hadn’t coerced her back then, she probably wouldn’t have been in his life. Besides, he could see she genuinely cared for the child.

”Mengjie, Mengjie, don’t cry anymore. It’s all my fault. You can hit me. I’ll never do it again. Please don’t leave me. I love you, and can’t live without you.”

”Hmph! Why didn’t you think about your dependence on me when you doubted me?”

Kong Mengjie broke free from Huang Hongwei’s hold and turned to walk out.

Huang Hongwei was terrified, ”Wife, it’s not like that. Don’t be mad. I swear I’ll never believe others again.”

”Let go, I’m going to pick up Tiantian.”

”Mengjie, you rest. Our son will wake up soon. I’ll go pick up Tiantian.”

Watching Huang Hongwei leave, Kong Mengjie finally sat on the edge of the heated bed, letting out a long sigh. She wondered if she had managed to get through this ordeal.

Looking at the son lying on the heated bed, Kong Mengjie’s feelings were mixed with love and hate. She loves him since she bore him for ten months, but hates him due to his origins.

The only way was to leverage Huang Hongwei’s guilt towards her; otherwise, she really didn’t know what to do.

She couldn’t; she had to give Huang Hongwei another son. Otherwise, she always felt guilty towards him.

Although raising a child was extremely exhausting, there was no other choice. Even though Huang Hongwei already had two sons, they weren’t born by her. She had to give birth to a son for Huang Hongwei herself.
