Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

The brother and sister heard their dad’s words from outside the door and were very shocked. It turns out their aunt was always like this.

They were third graders, so they could understand what adults were saying.

Dad’s implication was that their mom died because of their aunt.

The sister pulled her brother away, stopping him from rushing in.

”Why are you pulling me?”

”What good would it do to go in now? We still have to live together later. Aren’t you afraid she’ll treat you badly?”

”But I can’t help it.”

”Just hold it in. It’s all my fault for believing what she said.”

”It’s not your fault. I agreed too.”

”Brother, we must not let her have a child. That boy in our class, Xiao Lin, is ignored and not allowed to go to school because his stepmother had a brother.”

”So what do we do?”

”Tell Dad, let Dad know. Dad is so good to us, he will definitely listen to us.”

”Okay, I understand. Tomorrow morning when Dad takes us to school, we must tell him.”

”Yeah, we’ll both say it together.”

If Jiang Xinyu had heard this conversation, she would have been very astonished. How can kids just over ten think so maturely?

Lv Beiguang came out of the room and went back to his own room, which was just a side room. Since getting married, he had been living here all the time.

It was stuffy and hot here, but he didn’t want to live with someone who had bad intentions.

He lay on the bed, chuckled to himself in self-ridicule, feeling that his life had truly failed.

He even had suicidal thoughts now. Life was particularly failing, and his mood was very depressed.

Suddenly, he sat up, found his bag, took out paper and pen, and wrote a letter to Jiang Xinyu.

He decided to pour out his woes to this young girl who was much younger than him. If she was here, she would definitely have a way to help him out of this predicament.

He wrote on two full sheets of letter paper before putting them away and lying down, feeling much better after venting.

The next day, Lv Beiguang got up at five, bathed, did the laundry, and cooked for the kids.

After all, Jing Chu was a girl, and when she got up and tried to help, she was refused.

”Dad, my brother and I were wrong.”

Lv Beiguang paused, ”Did you two make trouble? What happened? Tell Dad.”

Jing Chu looked at her dad speechlessly. If not for his good looks, he wouldn’t have been able to find a wife.

Hu Xuefeng got up and saw the father and daughter cooking. She didn’t say anything and went to wash up by herself.

She was a bit self-destructive now. From the first time she saw Lv Beiguang, she fell for him. But at that time, she was only fourteen, and he was having a marriage interview with her sixteen-year-old sister. Back then, she hated her sister for being able to marry Lv Beiguang and hated herself for being so young in age.

When they got married, she often stayed at her sister’s house, not because she was particularly close to her sister but because she wanted to see Lv Beiguang every day.

Seeing her sister happy every day and pregnant, she was simply consumed with hatred. She thought her sister had stolen her husband.

Lv Beiguang was good-looking, and in her eyes, he was a god.

She kept telling her sister that a man too handsome would be pursued by others.

Hu Xueling, due to her pregnancy and her husband not being around, was prone to wild thoughts. When her pregnancy was almost eight months, she saw her husband laughing and talking with a female colleague and lost her temper, accidentally falling.

This led to a premature birth of a set of twins, but she didn’t live to see them reach a year old.

She urged and successfully fostered the children, but when the old folks at home passed away, she couldn’t manage the kids alone, often using the kids to play cat-and-mouse and make them resent Lv Beiguang.

Finally, this year, she married the man she had liked for so many years, but he wouldn’t even touch her.

Hu Xuefeng was now regretful at almost twenty-six years old. Should she continue wasting her life like this? Yesterday, she confronted him and argued, but he remained indifferent.

Forget it, she no longer had the strength to love him. The two kids weren’t hers; they would not treat her well in the future. It was better to leave and find a man who would treat her well.

The four of them silently ate breakfast, and Hu Xuefeng put down her chopsticks, ”Lv Beiguang, let’s divorce.”

”Is this what you want?”

”You don’t treat me as your wife, why should I persist? Divorce, let’s get divorced today.” Hu Xuefeng was a bit hysterical.

Because she saw that neither of the kids looked at her, it seemed they heard their conversation last night. Such ungrateful wretches. After taking care of them for so many years, they treated her like this.

”Fine, I’ll be at the civil affairs bureau at ten.”

”Guodong, Jing Chu, you two get your backpacks. I’ll take you to school.” Lv Beiguang was really indifferent. He might not be very sharp in social matters, but he wasn’t stupid. Breaking away from her was naturally welcome.

On the way, the three of them didn’t say a word. Guodong felt sorry for his dad.

At the school gate, ”You two behave yourselves.”

”Mm, Dad, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t pressured you to marry her in the first place, you wouldn’t be like this.”

”It’s okay. Now that you understand, Dad feels it’s worth it. Study hard.”

Lv Beiguang rode his bike to the brewery, asked for leave, and went directly to the civil affairs bureau.

He waited at the door for an hour, and it was almost ten-thirty when Hu Xuefeng finally showed up, and he frowned. Just as he was about to leave, he saw her arriving late.

They didn’t interact, handling the divorce procedures under the disdainful eyes of the staff.

Hu Xuefeng felt particularly miserable inside. How did it turn out like this? She had hoped he might have second thoughts and keep her, but seeing his expressionless face, she broke down in tears.

Without saying a word, she pushed her bike and left.

Lv Beiguang also headed home since the house still had so many of her belongings.

When they got home, the door was open. He pushed it open and went in.

Seeing the mess that the house was in, he didn’t say anything. Although he disliked and resented her, his two kids were raised by her. No matter her motives, the fact was she raised them until they were eight.

For this reason, he showed much tolerance to her.

He handed Hu Xuefeng an envelope. ”This is a hundred yuan. Take it. I hope in the future you won’t disturb our three-person life. We owe you nothing.”

”A hundred yuan? Lv Beiguang, you’re really generous.” Though she said this, Hu Xuefeng still pocketed the money.

Lv Beiguang didn’t respond to her and instead picked up the clothes on the floor, folding them again.

Hu Xuefeng felt utterly wronged, having been so blind all these years.
