Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”This power shouldn’t be here. Who exactly are they?”

Before Pingru could think further, a golden arrow suddenly disappeared in mid-air, only to reappear without warning right in front of her.

Pingru quickly deployed her Magic Shield, but the Light Arrow didn’t bounce off the shield as she had imagined.

The arrow, gleaming with Holy Light, turned into countless specks of light when it neared the shield, infiltrating her Magic Shield.

These specks of light passed through her Equipment and eventually, like numerous sharp knives, stabbed into Pingru’s body, causing her to clench the fabric over her chest tightly.

Iyas, clenching her fist slightly, couldn’t help but smile as her imagined attack succeeded.

Holy Light has two states, as a mist it can enhance and heal others, while in solid form, it acts like sharp knives.

The mist form of Holy Light can bypass a person’s Defense and directly affect their body.

Back in Elf Village, Iyas had already contemplated attacks that could ignore others’ defenses.

But controlling Holy Light to one’s will was extremely difficult, transforming healing Holy Light into an arrow and then dispersing it for healing had taken Iyas a long time to practice.

Solidifying, misting, and solidifying again – it was noticeably harder than solidifying then misting.

This demanded the user to have an extremely high precision in controlling Holy Light, a moment too soon or too late would lead to failure.

After getting involved in the war between two countries, Iyas, accompanying the team, had participated in countless battles, and her arrows were often defended against by others’ Magic Shields.

”Magic Shield is also a Defense, I want attacks that can penetrate personal defenses and should be able to pierce through Magic Shields too.”

Thinking this, Iyas constantly manipulated Holy Light, practicing over and over and gradually getting the hang of it.

To verify the feasibility of this Shield-piercing attack, Iyas asked Bai Jin to jointly validate this Skill.

Unfortunately, perhaps worried that her arrows might hurt Bai Jin, Iyas never used her full strength; she only knew that Bai Jin indeed felt some stinging palpitations, and the attack she envisioned might be correct.

Seeing Pingru’s painful expression, Iyas knew she had succeeded but quickly suppressed her joy.

Being able to attack by ignoring others’ defenses was certainly worth celebrating, yet this kind of attack required intense concentration.

Unlike those Skills where you simply throw the Holy Light and forget, to pierce through Shields, Iyas had to ensure that the arrows made of Holy Light changed as per her intentions.

If the target moved suddenly, this Skill might fail, limiting its use only against slow-moving enemies who deploy shields while static.

The enemy was not far from here, and Yang Yu was gradually able to see Pingru’s specific attributes.

Her Level had surpassed one hundred and she had nearly four thousand Intelligence, only not much higher than that of Bai Jin who equipped the Magic Wand Sigh Seed.

Seeing Pingru’s title, Yang Yu confirmed his thoughts, although he didn’t believe that Bai Jin and Iyas together would lose to this ”Sky-breaking Stone” vice-captain.

But indiscriminate firing would certainly harm his own troops.

Having achieved so much, a promotion and raise were just around the corner. If some troublemaker cropped up in his troops here and losses exceeded one-third, those opposing his promotion to General would certainly seize this issue, arguing he was not yet mature enough to hold the position.

Although he wasn’t sure if such people truly existed, it always paid to be cautious.

So even though the other side had made the first move, Yang Yu decided to talk first.

After all, he had now noted down her actions in his little notebook, and when time came to harvest Experience later, he was determined to teach her a lesson.

If Bai Jin hadn’t become strong enough, it’s likely Yang Yu and his troops would have been engulfed by those raging flames.

Without another word, Yang Yu also stood up from the back of Lotcar and stopped Iyas and Bai Jin from continuing their attacks, pulled out a megaphone, and turned it to maximum volume.

”Hey up there, listen to me.

”We didn’t come here for the reasons you think.

We are here to find a group of beastmen who have gone rogue from the main army.

The sudden attack you launched—we have an idea of what happened.

I understand your anger, but please calm down and talk to us.

If you insist on fighting with us, we will not hold back.”

Because Yang Yu’s loudspeaker was extremely loud, many beastmen subconsciously covered their ears.

Pingru watched from the air for a while, confirming that Iyas and Bai Jin did not continue their attacks, then slowly descended to the ground and spoke emotionlessly:

”Do you have any proof to back up your claims?”

”Unfortunately, I am just following orders and do not have any physical evidence with me. However, you can directly contact my superiors, and if you cooperate in a staged act, you should be able to discern the truth.”

Yang Yu put away the loudspeaker, dismounted from Lotcar, and walked toward Pingru, defenselessly.

”We genuinely want to win this war, and we are aware of the consequences of attacking civilians. Hence, we hastily crossed the border, hoping to stop them.

But it seems we were still too late, and I sincerely apologize for their actions.

I will suggest to my army that we strengthen our control. Now, I ask that you let me and my troops return.”

Pingru removed her eyepatch, revealing her red and blue eyes.

”This sort of incident has happened many times.

Just the ones I’ve heard of vary in scale, but are numerous. I do not believe that this is an issue that can be resolved by your supervision alone.

I came here because I heard that beastmen reached the border and might endanger the nearby villages.”

”What do you think we beastmen should do then?

Have there been previous incidents where beastmen suddenly crossed the border and attacked humans?

Such attacks on villages near the border by beastmen have started happening only in the past few years.”

Pingru didn’t respond to Yang Yu’s questions.

Yang Yu withdrew his hand, ”I’m slightly upset.

If it wasn’t for my troops, that magic spell you just cast could have obliterated that entire unit.

To clarify the situation, I had my men cease fire first, yet your attitude remains as such.

You say this isn’t something that can be resolved under our supervision alone, and I agree, it isn’t just about supervising our troops.

Ten years ago, both countries were at peace, living together without issues, but it was shattered by the greed of the Luo Ze Empire.

We had no choice but to go to war.

I understand your anger and am willing to pause and talk, but how about you? Can you understand why beastmen would cross the border to attack unarmed civilians?

Is it barbarism or something vile?”
