Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Glancing sideways, Yang Yu feigned a hint of regret and asked,

”Then General Dongmu, what are your plans for my troops?”

”Don’t worry about that. Since I’ve called upon your troops, naturally I have prepared a compensation plan for you.”

Dongmu extended his right hand’s index and middle finger, showing the number two.

”Currently, there are two plans for you to choose from.

The first, I would allocate some subordinates with potential under your command. Though it might be a bit tough, I hope you can train them well. They will also become the main force in your winter offensive.

The second, if you really don’t want to accept that, I will try to call back some of your original troops, but a complete return is clearly unrealistic. I will divide a large proportion of new recruits and hand them over to you for training.

Which one do you think is better?”

Pretending to contemplate for a moment, Yang Yu made his choice,

”In the battle to reclaim Qinghe Volcano, my soldiers exerted a lot of effort and gained quite a few merits.

Originally, they were all capable individuals, gathered under my command specifically for the swift recapture of Qinghe Volcano.”

He paused, then deliberately raised his voice a few notches,

”In fact, I share the same idea as General Dongmu.

This is an opportunity.

The threat of Qinghe Volcano has been lifted, and they should return to their original... no, rather, up to a higher level of duty, contributing their strength to reclaim the lost territories.

I have always been clear about rewards and punishments, and the merits of my subordinates are all recorded.

In a moment, I will hand over those records of merits to you, General. Please ensure that my former subordinates are appropriately assigned.”

Dongmu was initially startled, then lifted his furry paw to scratch his head, laughing,

”As expected of you, indeed you are an interesting guy. I will arrange everything properly. With those words, it also means that you...”

Yang Yu smiled slightly: ”Exactly.

Though it might be troublesome to train, make sure to arrange some subordinates for me according to my specifications.

You just said that the troops assigned will be taken to fight in the winter, but that will also be unnecessary.

If at that time, I am still under your command, please reassign some manpower to me, and I will start from scratch with them.”

Yang Yu did not know what feelings or purposes Dongmu had when he said those words.

But since the offer was made, why not just take it?

And not just take it, but take it with large strides.

Yang Yu’s goal was to further alleviate the concerns of the upper echelons of Wansheng Country.

Without a fixed army in hand, it meant that he had no way to develop a closer relationship with the troops.

Such a person, even if a little military power is placed in their hands, it can be easily retracted.

Yang Yu has always understood that to Wansheng Country, he was but an outsider.

If he wanted to advance quickly, he had either to earn more trust or to ease the minds of those in power completely.

Earning trust is not something that can be achieved overnight; choosing the latter is more effortless.

Soon after, Dongmu divided the remaining soldiers in half, letting Yang Yu form a brand-new unit.

Dongmu was also fairly conscientious; as Yang Yu scanned with his panel, there were no soldiers with particularly poor attributes.

A few soldiers had distinctive personalities but acted with their own bottom lines, adhering to the basic rules of military conduct.

After completing the basic duty assignments, Yang Yu began harvesting experience as usual, and greeted the new troops with a warm ”welcome,” which had them lying in bed for half a day.

Once their wounds healed, Yang Yu began to teach them various techniques.

Yang Yu had many things he wanted to teach, however, before he had the chance to train the soldiers for a few more days, urgent reports came from the Norma Defense Line.

The reason Dongmu had brought his troops to Liu Tie City was not only to escort accumulated prisoners but also had other purposes.

According to the scouts, the Luo Ze Empire recently had intentions of breaking through the Norma Defense Line, but where the attack would come from was not clear.

Dongmu had previously appeared on the Norma Defense Line under the guise of transporting prisoners and deploying troops, temporarily leaving the defense line, all to lure the enemy out.

Now the Big Snake Dongmu was waiting for had finally shown itself.

”General Potato, although I wanted to let you and your troops bond for a while, the situation is now urgent.

I have to lead the troops to the front, so come along!

After stabilizing this defense line, there are other battlefronts that need support.”

Facing Dongmu’s invitation, Yang Yu did not refuse,

”We still need countless small victories to further curb the Luo Ze Empire’s intrusion, let’s go.”

Temporarily not worrying about the level cap issue, Yang Yu’s eagerness for battle was naturally high. If he could make a name for himself in this battle, perhaps he could also change subsequent plans.

However, Yang Yu still underestimated the determination of the Luo Ze Empire.

Just looking at the number of snakes, even without deliberately luring them out, the Luo Ze Empire would openly roll over.

Even though there were some turmoils within the Luo Ze Empire due to the Holy Maiden’s death, they had not diminished their ambition in the slightest.

The Main War Faction of the Luo Ze Empire urgently needed a solid victory to stabilize the military’s spirit.

The battle on the Sailuomen Plain gradually intensified, and the Luo Ze Empire’s Army found their rhythm against the Centaurs, with a massive number of cities beginning to fall under the Empire’s onslaught.

But that was not a feat to boast of.

In the past at this time, the Luo Ze Empire’s Army would have already taken the Feng Mang Region of Sailuomen into their control.

Though they had left a door open for subsequent offensives at the end of winter, this year’s spring and summer campaign against Selovomen was embarrassingly difficult, causing much dissatisfaction among the higher-ups.

The current situation on the Sailuomen Plain is rightfully unfolding as it should, so the victories there cannot soothe the military spirit.

The Main War Faction needed an unprecedented, almost overwhelming victory to crush the high Morale of the Beastmen.

The Main War Faction of the Luo Ze Empire held a discussion that lasted a day and a night, eventually finalizing several combat routes, and experienced veterans led the charge.

”From here down, we can break through the lines established by the Beastmen.”

With the soldiers climbing the final hill, an old Luoze general riding a tiger looked out at the great landscapes of Wansheng Country, extending his withered hand to clench a fist towards a distant city, as if to grasp everything before him within his hand.

”Let me emphasize again, when encountering dispersed Beastman Army units, do not go pursuing them.

We have already confirmed our target beforehand, take advantage of our numerical superiority to ensure an overwhelming victory. On other fronts, there are countless soldiers like us, fighting for a common goal.

All of this is for the glory of the Empire!”

With his sword drawn, at the command of Grand General Filo Ack, the soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire unhesitatingly swept over the somewhat barren hills and roared down in a charge.
