Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Yang Yu didn’t fuss about what kind of fish he could catch in the pond; as long as there were fish, it was fine by him.

It didn’t matter whether they were loaches or golden dragons; it was all the same to him.

Yang Yu just wanted to see if the rising luck value while fishing could influence the lottery results.

Yang Yu’s troops didn’t know what he was up to; they could only honestly report the nearby fishing spots.

The nearest place was north of the boundary marker, within the territory of the Luo Ze Empire.

Just follow the mountain range where this boundary marker is located, walk about ten or so kilometers, and you’ll reach a stream rich in resources.

Though Yang Yu wasn’t picky, he was currently fighting for Wansheng Country, and crossing the border at will seemed somewhat inappropriate.

In the end, Yang Yu chose to leave the boundary marker and patrol to the east.

Finally, Yang Yu found a small pond located at the foot of a mountain.

He moved a stool over, and under the watchful eye of his troops, with chants of ”General, what are you doing?!”, Yang Yu cast his fishing line and sat down to fish.

The moment the fishhook sank into the pond, Yang Yu’s luck value on the panel jumped from one to eleven, and he felt he had reached an unprecedented peak in his life.

Without hesitation, Yang Yu first used his ten chances of drawing rare loot gained from [Making Antidote] to the skies.

Glitters of gold flashed by as treasures were revealed from each box:

Ba Wang Shampoo (Rare), Calculator (Rare), Black and White Maid Swimsuit (Rare), Dragon Pattern Qipao (Rare), Three Kilograms of Magnetic Iron Ore (Rare), Exquisitely Crafted Cloth Armor (Rare), Stylish Motorcycle (Epic), Delicious Caviar (Rare), Treadmill (Rare), ”Programming from Beginner to Burial” (Rare).

There wasn’t even a guaranteed drop, yet he had drawn rare equipment that he could hardly ever get before...

Yang Yu smelled the scent of defying fate, his mouth curved into an uncontrollable, manic grin as he used up all his accumulated lottery chances in one go.

The results were beyond his imagination.

Apart from various snacks, toys, and books, Yang Yu drew various materials, five pieces of Rare Quality Equipment, a Skill, and two Epic items.

Let’s talk about the Active Skill [Reinforcement] first, which could increase his Defense by 20%.

Plain and simple, without any pretense, the straightforward skill effect; Yang Yu thought to himself, I like it.

Although he had allocated all his free attribute points to Endurance and Speed, not Defense, his Defense naturally increased with his Level, and an addition of 20% was quite significant.

This Skill, at least, was stronger than [Sharp Blade], which only increased sword damage by 10%.

Moving onto the two Epic items Yang Yu obtained, one was a yacht, and the other was a piece of jewelry equipment.

[Thunder God Bracelet]: +10% Intelligence, +10% maximum MP, +100 basic Attack, and a 10% chance to inflict the Electric Shock State upon hitting with an electric attribute attack, increasing follow-up damage by 20%.

All in all, even if he hadn’t made it from Africa to Europe, he had at least reluctantly reached the standard from Africa to Asia.

The increased Luck while fishing indeed influenced the drop rate.

It seems that he will have to save up some lottery chances and find a quiet place to fish and draw loot in the future.

Yang Yu wondered if there would be other Skills or tools that could increase his Luck value in the future. If so, he would unquestionably choose them without any hesitation.

Moreover, since fishing could improve the chances of winning, could he also land critical hits while sitting and fishing?

Yang Yu was filled with surging emotions and full of anticipation for the future. If he drew just one more Epic item, he reckoned he wouldn’t be able to sleep at all that night from excitement.

Before Yang Yu had reeled in his fishing rod, suddenly, Bai Jin rushed over to his side and said:

”General Potato, General Dongmu sent a communication.”

Bai Jin handed over the Crystal Ball in her hand, and Dongmu’s face soon appeared on the other end.

Dongmu, as always, maintained a very optimistic smile and greeted Yang Yu enthusiastically:

”Yo, long time no see, General Potato. Your performance has been nothing short of amazing. How’s the border patrol Task going?”

Yang Yu didn’t hide anything and reported truthfully, ”The Task is going very smoothly.

In fact, it’s almost going too smoothly; I can feel that the Luo Ze Empire’s Army is deliberately avoiding me.

All I can do is teach the Beastman Army I come across, hoping they can handle unexpected situations with ease.”

”Ha ha ha ha ha, I remember you mentioned before.

With a whole troop easily resolved by you, anyone would be scared stiff by your reputation.

However, teaching... teaching, huh?

There’s indeed a need for that; though the Luo Ze Empire’s troops deliberately avoid you, they don’t avoid us.

We sometimes hear about disputes between Beastman Soldiers and Human troops near the defense lines.

Thanks to your patrols, only a few spots are left needing defenses...

Afterward, we’ll still have to trouble you.

I just so happen to have a very important Task here that I want you to handle.”

After a few brief pleasantries, Dongmu got back on topic, and Yang Yu politely continued the conversation,

”General, what do you need me for?”

Before Dongmu could speak, a new Task popped up on Yang Yu’s Task panel.

[Camp Task: [The Beastman Soldiers Crossing the Border]

Task Description: In war, it’s a common tactic to deliberately smear opponents to grasp the ”moral high ground.”

Just as the Luo Ze Empire claims that Beastmen, or even all Subhumans, are barbaric and dirty, the Beastmen also demonize Humans.

One’s opinion of something depends on what they see, hear, think, and ponder.

In this era, most people have very limited access to information; if someone monopolizes what they see and hear from the beginning, then they’re easily misled and take whatever they’re fed for truth.

Not all Subhumans have seen Humans; not all Subhumans take the time to observe and understand the human race carefully.

Most Subhumans have already formed stereotypes about Humans amidst Wansheng Country’s increasing propaganda and are not satisfied with just driving Humans away.

Task Requirements: You have received a report that a troop, after repelling Human forces, marched forward and entered Luo Ze Empire. Find them and bring them back.

Task Rewards: Experience ???, Gold Coin ???, lottery chances +10

Essentially, Dongmu just repeated what was written on the Task panel and added a little bit more, while Yang Yu pretended to be oblivious to all of it and listened to Dongmu explain everything.

”That’s the situation; they seem to have gone to extremes.

If we let things continue, they might attack a large number of Human Civilians in a village undisputedly.

If that happens, the giant dragon’s rules won’t protect them.

In the end, they might be killed by powerful Humans or burnt to ashes directly by the giant dragon.”

Yang Yu placed his hand on his chin and pondered for a moment, then expressed his skepticism about the task, ”Didn’t we already emphasize during the new recruit education that they shouldn’t attack Civilians?”
