Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Coming Out in Full Force

Yang Yu pulled out a new shield from the system, looking toward the Mother Spider.

If that Mother Spider had used more webs just now, he might not have let go in time and been dragged away.

It seemed that its web reserves were running low.

Qing Shi had once told Yang Yu that the webs of the Mother Spider were extremely precious, so to save magic power and energy, they would often eat the useless spider webs for recycling.

Recycling also needed time.

Just now, it used so many threads just to immobilize me, this reckless decision will eventually bring it dire consequences.

To ingest these threads back into its stomach and turn them into new spider silk would take quite some time.

It had also sprayed so much poison, it seemed that its poison reserves might also be low.

It was time to sound the horn of counterattack.

Unfortunately...

The chessboard was filled with threads, poison liquid streamed unchecked, and stepping carelessly or attacking rashly would only give the Mother Spider an opportunity.

Yang Yu was not in a hurry, he was waiting for He Meng to emerge from the cocoon.

The Slime’s body had strong dissolving properties, and after growing for so long, even if He Meng was unwilling, its devouring ability had also improved.

He Meng tasted the threads and found them distasteful, so she stayed inside the cocoon waiting for Yang Yu to rescue her.

But who knew, Yang Yu did not prioritize her liberation.

Clearly facing a poisonous Mother Spider, she was the main force of the attack, yet Yang Yu completely sidelined her, wanting her to break out of the cocoon by herself.

”Maybe, he just couldn’t find time to save me...”

Unable to do otherwise, He Meng had to use her own body to devour and dissolve the threads wrapped around her.

But just as she had torn through the cocoon, not long after, she heard Yang Yu’s voice,

”He Meng, clear the path, this spider can no longer use its threads and poison freely like before. I’m starting the counterattack.”

Having just escaped, she had to work right away, He Meng pursed her lips unhappily, if she actually had lips.

Yet seeing the mess all around, He Meng still efficiently cleared the main attack route for Yang Yu like a giant mop.

Just as He Meng cleared the path to the Mother Spider, the Mother Spider angrily swung its legs, stabbing at He Meng,

”It’s ridiculous, a demon pledging loyalty to humans. If you pledged allegiance to that master with me, a powerful demon like you would definitely be appreciated by him!”

Upon hearing this from the Mother Spider, anger flared up in He Meng, it’s not like I enjoy being loyal to humans.

As for pledging loyalty to someone else, He Meng had even less interest in that; she only wanted to accompany Yang Yu through this journey and then return to Newbie Village with him, where he would plant fields of Clover, quietly enjoying fine food.

Although He Meng had no idea what kind of person that ’master’ mentioned by the Mother Spider was in reality, but after a promise of power, to leave others behind in such a perilous Underground Maze, He Meng had no liking for that master at all.

He Meng stood up, gathering all the poison in her body towards the upper end, then sprayed the collected Poison Liquid on the Mother Spider’s face.

The Mother Spider, furious, exclaimed, ”I should have known, a demon that fraternizes with humans could never be a decent demon! Just let humans use you as a tool and drive you to death!”

He Meng, upon hearing that, became even more enraged.

”I won’t be treated as a tool by humans and be driven to death! I’m only adventuring with him because he can produce Clover, so I reluctantly made a contract. If he couldn’t produce Clover, I would have gone back to sleep a long time ago.”

”People criticize without understanding the reasons; the lord you serve isn’t necessarily any nobler. I’m going to teach you a lesson right now.”

Countless azure water droplets separated from He Meng’s body as he prepared to use the once-per-day skill ”Slime King’s Spear” to instantly finish off the spider in front of him.

Unexpectedly, Yang Yu performed a ”Support Charge” and moved in front of He Meng.

He executed ”Shield Block” to block the stab from the Mother Spider’s leg.

”Don’t use that skill now; let’s save it until we meet the real boss of this maze.”

As he spoke, Yang Yu’s sword blade emitted an orange glow, striking at the incoming Poison Teeth of the spider.

The Poison Teeth were the hardest part of the Mother Spider, but Yang Yu’s strike still managed to shatter them with cracks.

The Mother Spider shrieked in pain, He Meng withdrew the water droplets, took the opportunity to leap up, and dealt a powerful ”Slime Charge” at the Poison Teeth of the Mother Spider, instantly shattering it, and bright green blood gushed from the broken teeth.

”You dare, you actually dare...”

With silk spraying from its abdomen, the Mother Spider moved its front legs, sending silk onto the intact parts of Poison Teeth. Unknown to it, Yang Yu gestured towards the back.

The dazzling light suddenly dimmed then brightened again; an arrow streaked across the sky, hitting the Mother Spider’s Poison Teeth, and the unpoisoned silk instantaneously fell from its teeth.

”Didn’t expect that, did you? This is the power of a team. You, a spider fighting alone, were mistaken from the start! Quickly call out your children; it will make it easier to deal with all of you at once.”

”No, I can still fight! I realized the danger from you.

My instinct was right; when I heard that you had avoided my children’s attacks, I knew that fighting with you was very dangerous!

That’s why I never wanted my children involved.”

”What a touching mother you are,” Yang Yu said with a smile, ”but your children don’t think so.

You are their mainstay; they can’t just stand by and watch you in danger.

It’s not so much their love for you as it is instinct.

They are one of your many children; you can always raise new ones if any of them dies.

But if you were to die, then they would have no one to serve, and the young ones wouldn’t be able to grow up under the guidance of the older individuals.

So, when you face danger, your children will definitely sacrifice themselves for you.”

As soon as the words fell, the sound of silk being torn was heard from behind the Mother Spider. Numerous Mother Spiders of all sizes suddenly ran out and formed a formation in front of their mother.

But Yang Yu just smiled, now Bai Jin could finally use powerful magic to clear the field a bit.

With the boost from Ice and Snow Magic, he would definitely be able to handle the Mother Spider more easily.

He wouldn’t show mercy; kindness to an enemy was ultimately cruelty to oneself.
