Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Make Do With It

Upon seeing Kenro, Yang Yu had been continuously searching his mind for a strategy to defeat such an enemy.

Yang Yu had experienced countless games, and the number of enemies he had seen who manipulated spiritual entities in combat was not small.

For convenience, let’s refer to these individuals who manipulate spiritual entities in combat as Spirit Manipulators.

In most games, the Spirit Manipulators themselves don’t possess outstanding abilities, and they mainly rely on gathering powerful spiritual entities to enhance their strength.

In a certain game that Yang Yu had played, there was a Spirit Manipulator who, after collecting a powerful spiritual entity, rose from an inconspicuous character, vanquished all challenges, and acquired numerous Ancient Heroic Souls, transforming into the final boss.

A Spirit Manipulator’s strength depends on the power and number of spiritual entities they collect, which to Yang Yu was already common knowledge.

To quickly end the battle, attacking the main body was the best option.

But Yang Yu had just tried, and the Spirit Shield that Kenro conjured seemed indestructible, which was probably why Bai Jin and the others were in such a difficult fight.

Besides attacking the body, another method to deal with a Spirit Manipulator is to eliminate the spiritual entities they command, weakening their strength, for without spiritual entities, a Spirit Manipulator is just a blank slate.

However, Iyas, who possessed strong Holy Light, was the only one who could deal effective damage to these spiritual entities now.

Undead Race, Demons, Vampires, Ghosts, and the like were all quite troublesome adversaries, hard to dispose of quickly by just warriors and mages, while high-level Priests could handle them easily.

As far as Yang Yu knew, Priests were extremely rare in this world and those blessed by the goddess with a higher talent for Holy Light were even rarer.

Based on the data Yang Yu gathered, less than one in fifty Priests had a talent for Holy Light above Level 5.

The most powerful known practitioner of Holy Light in the Human World was the Goddess Sect Saintess, and abducting her might be more troublesome than correcting Iyas’s personality, carrying even greater risks.

Therefore, when Iyas started to become somewhat obsessive, Yang Yu did not choose to let her be but instead planned to give her a tough social beating.

However, abducting the Saintess seemed like an interesting side quest; if only Yang Yu could start the game over, he would actually like to try the side quest of abducting the Goddess Sect Saintess and shaping her into his ideal image.

Of course, by ”shape” here, Yang Yu referred to his ideal version of a Priest.

Now, as a Priest, Iyas clearly wasn’t up to par, but Yang Yu had no choice but to make do.

He commanded Iyas to draw the bow again, instructing her to unleash the combo of ”Light Arrow,” ”Deadly Shot,” and ”Hunter Mark,” as Yang Yu once more charged towards Kenro.

Kenro mobilized the black spiritual entity under his feet for defense, but Yang Yu would not let Kenro defend so easily.

While charging, Yang Yu plunged his sword blade into the ground, tracing a long line, from which countless thorns grew around Kenro. Kenro pulled a fine line from within the spiritual entity, like a cutter, instantly severing all the thorns.

Yet, having prepared one form of defense, it became difficult to prepare another. Kenro gathered spiritual entities to weave a shield and attempted to dodge, but still, Iyas’s arrows penetrated the layers of spiritual entities and pierced through one of Kenro’s arms.

Blood, a crimson red, gushed from Kenro’s wound, spurting out. Kenro extended his other hand to touch the scalding liquid, his body coming to an abrupt halt, and then, like a child, Kenro cried again.

”You dare, you dare injure the body my mother gave me—I will never forgive you!”

Kenro’s sudden weeping did not slow Yang Yu down in the slightest. A flash of crimson crossed his eyes as ”Sudden Killing Intent” was activated. Seizing the brief pause of the dark hand, he whipped up black winds on his sword blade and continued to hack at Kenro’s injured arm, wishing to rub salt into Kenro’s wound.

Kenro immediately stopped crying, twitched his black spiritual body into defense, but just before Yang Yu’s attack landed on the shield, he feinted, withdrew his sword, and with a sweeping leg, he struck Kenro’s unguarded knee, instantly toppling him.

At this rare opportunity, Bai Jin released several Frost Ice Arrows.

Just as the Frost Ice Arrows were about to pierce Kenro’s body, suddenly, countless black spirits burst forth from the Black Group beneath Kenro’s feet like a volcanic eruption, blotting out the sky, and forming a black hemisphere around him, among which were fragments of spirits tinged with a light golden glow.

”This time, you’ve really angered me.”

A chunk of the mask imprinted with black Otherworldly flowers shattered, revealing Kenro’s face, which had been clawed at countless times by something. His already fierce face, coupled with his angry eyes, became extraordinarily hideous.

He covered his bleeding wound and exhaled all the spirits he carried in one breath.

Countless spirits howled as they spun around Kenro, venting their dissatisfaction from their previous lives. Kenro utilized the obsessions of these spirits from their lifes to manipulate them. He let the spirits suck in the surrounding Magic Power for their materialization, turning them into his weapons.

Every spirit that erupted out under Kenro’s command devoured the surrounding Magic Power, their features growing more and more hideous, becoming tangible spirits that could be seen and touched.

Kenro rarely used this move—it not only drained the surrounding Magic Power but also significantly reduced his stamina and mental strength, causing a certain decline in his willpower.

Manipulating spirits was risky, especially high-level ones. After materialization, those spirits actually gained a certain level of self-awareness. If the manipulator’s will was not strong enough, they risked being overtaken by the powerful spirits.

Knowing these risks, Kenro avoided using this move as much as possible. In his life that spanned over fifty years, he had used it only a handful of times.

If it were not for Yang Yu and his companions repeatedly crossing his boundaries, injuring his body again and again, he would not have resorted to this move.

But this time, his ”Night Parade of Hundred Demons,” the substantial souls he conjured were much fewer than before. Even though he had depleted three-quarters of the Magic Power inside his body, the materialized spirits did not exceed seventy.

It was a very strange phenomenon. It was as if someone else was here, devouring the Magic Power in large gulps, preparing a Super Large Magic.

Kenro looked up, his gaze directed above him.

A shadow about the size of a bean floated in the air. Upon closer inspection, it was not a bird but a very young-looking boy. Judging from his height, he would not even be twelve or thirteen years old.

Yet it was him, attracting countless Magic Power converging towards him, spreading a deep blue Magic Array in the sky that blended with the blue of the heavens.

Without any warning, the vast Magic Array suddenly shrank, becoming only the size of a parasol, and the inscription on the Magic Array became exquisitely detailed.

Gordon flicked the Magic Array downward, a cold blue beam of light striking directly at the half-round black Domain formed by Kenro. Countless newly materialized spirits, before they had acted for long, were completely engulfed by the cold blue light.

”Why not make a move back then, why choose now to intervene!”

The light smashed to the ground, triggering a powerful shockwave. Yang Yu raised his Shield, activating ”Interception,” and an Illusion Shield unfolded in front of him, protecting Bai Jin and Iyas. At the same time, he called out to Iyas behind him,

”Iyas, Healing!”
